I saw them many many times back in the day. What a trip. Perfection. I wish those days were back. Can't wait for the Mama Cass / Store one..I just wanted to add this..your very much appreciated for these shows.❣️❣️
Oh, The Doors! I grew up listening to them because of my father as well and there is just something magical about hiking the canyons while listening to any of their albums. A true influence on me as a person and I do feel I lived a past life in that time. Truely miss the ghosts and vibes that reside in the whole of LA and Southern California. Thank you for this video. 🥂🖤❤🌸🌼🏵🌺
There is a street name Love here in Albuquerque just a couple miles away from where Jim Morrison’s childhood home was for a few years. I walked the street on my way to kindergarten in the early 80’s, I always sing this song when I pass the street, at least once a week.
Years ago, I was hired by Jim’s mom and father to do a landscape renovation at their home in Chula Vista. After that, they hired me again to renovate the garden at their weekend home in Coronado. I have a lot of stories from working with them so closely. Jim’s father was a real man’s man, super nice and very sincere. As for Jim’s mom, that’s another story LOL…
He was way, way retired already when I worked for them. They both were senior citizens at the time. His father was well respected in Coronado. Small island off San Diego. There is a naval base their as well. Probably why they had a home there from years back…. The homes were nothing special, small one story homes. I always wondered why they would live in Chula Vista during the week and Coronado during the weekends. Since it was a 10-15 minute drive from one home to another. I know his father had a lot of retired friends on the island and they would have brunch, dinners at the club as well as gulf during the weekends…
His mom was always grouchy and she defined wore the pants in the family. She was always attempting to haggle me on prices. She would add items and pretend as if they were already included in the original agreement. She wasn’t nice to work with. When we first met, she was lovely. As soon as I started the claws came out lol. But I was used that clients like that. His dad really would not get involved, but it was a real pleasure speaking with him - when he did. Just a real nice person. A couple years later, I saw him eating at the bar table alone having breakfast at Denny’s on Harbor Drive (demolished now), I went up to him and asked how he was… Always a nice man :)
I remember the Doors, they were a great band and I crank up the volume when one of their songs come on the radio. Thank You Michael for another great video.
I Love The Doors, in 1998 I visited Paris, Père Lachaise Cemetery, and found Jim Morrison's grave and there is always two Gendarmes guarding Jim's grave (the original bust from headstone was stolen), I went to visit Jim's apartment where he lived and died. Opposite the apartment is a bar Jim frequented, and they have Jim's leather coat etc on the wall, love Paris and Jim Morrison
Argh The Doors so good also what a time to be alive back when. I wasn’t but I would imagine it was an unique time. 👏🏽🙏🏽 especially seeing The Doors live.
I said it loads of times before and will say it again "Micheal you are amazing" you truely have the most amazing channel ever, im so glad that you have moved to LA, it feels for me that the city was made for you to live in, the way you express yourself in these videos and the way you tell the stories is second to none, you were made for this youtube channel and you covered alot of my favorite movies etc.
Totally agree. The way he tells these stories is beyond mesmerizing. He lets you feel and absorb the atmosphere, words, images. He is so different from all the others you tubers. He is very much like Jim Morrison, which I love.
As a 16 year old kid I was exploring back stage at the Spectrum in Philadelphia during the intermission of a Doors concert. I went through a second double door in the back and as soon as I opened it Jim Morrison was standing right there. I think I said excuse me and he smiled . Next thing security asked me why I was back there. I told them I was lost . They escorted me back to my side stage ticket seat. I will never forget that . Note: I remember we were just about even , the same height . I am 6’1”.
Absolutely loved this video Michael! I appreciate the historical perspective you include, such as the July 1959 Laurel Canyon fire. Although its hard to make out, I think the newsreel announcer is saying a mother and child died in the fire, in addition to a family dog. I'm a great fan of the Doors and remember Jim's shocking death. Did you know The Doors last concert took place here in New Orleans on December 12, 1970? The performance was at the old Warehouse music venue on Tchoupitoulas Street. The second, and fatefully last performance of Riders on the Storm took place that night. Jim was in very bad shape which resulted in the tour being cancelled. Sadly, The Warehouse was demolished in 1989 but there is a historic marker at the site. The Warehouse opened in January 1970 and closed after a Talking Heads concert in 1982.
The garage door is actually not a door. Nor is there a garage behind it. It was meant to keep the space clear of cars. I lived in Laurel Canyon in the 90’s and knew the owner at the time. Nice video!
Your videos are always amazing! I took my son to see Robby Krieger in concert a couple weeks ago and now he is a fan of The Doors too. Jim was such a unique spirit.
Love the Song, "the End"--- there's no getting around that dark deep meaning of that tune, and how beautifully executed in a ominous way... I think Nico was the only one I have heard that did the best cover of that song ---- no one else comes close... Jim was a very talented, and a troubled man (he was both famous and infamous, at the same time)... LOVE the Morrison street art, and location shots, as well.... Thanks, for the 'Lost Boys' hang, last night.... Happy Halloween, GriMMs...... :^)""""""""
I recently discovered The Doors earlier this year, being in my early 20s. They’re very good. I heard a few songs by them in Forrest Gump a few years ago but I didn’t know it was them yet.
I’m a “younger” fan of the doors. I was able to see The doors of the 21st century. Well ray and Robbie, but it was sooo cool. Never thought I would EVER see that!
Great video Micheal 💯 huge fan of the doors, Songs like, "come on baby light my fire", "break on through" (to the other side) and Last, but not least, "People are strange" Jim Morrison, was absolutely right, about that lol, his cause of death, was congestive heart failure, ,and it was in his bathtub, where he passed away, RIP Jim Morrison 🙏🏼
Hi Michael, I just visited Love Street a few weeks ago, but you've just provided a lot of history I didn't know about Jim's home. Great information as usual, love your channel. All the best from the UK.
Wow i seen that store many times driving through laurel canyon and I never knew the famous history of that store or that the love street house was there. Another great video! Thanks!
I absolutely love the doors coverage you guys do on this channel. You give us priceless details and info we wouldn't get anywhere else, you treat the subject matter with the utmost respect and reverence it deserves.@grimmlifecollective is, bar none, one of thee best exploring channels on RUclips period. Thank you so much for taking the time out to bring these to us. We know you both work extremely hard and have to get where you're both at and we love you for it. Thank you, thankyou, thank you!
Great video! I'm 53 now my brother introduced me to the doors they had a lot of great music! I think this was a great time in America so much going on at the time it would have been very interesting growing up back then I missed it by 20 years!
Wow those murals are amazing better than the crap we get in the u.k which consists of childish scrawl. The doors are legendary I can almost imagine walking around there back in the day I bet it was awesome. Great video yet again and so good to see those places
Hey, I dunno if you remember me, but I'm Haley; I stopped by your booth at Midsummer Scream last weekend to tell you my dad turned me onto your channel and how I appreciate the way you and your girlfriend handle all the true crime cases you cover. I'm so glad to see you touch on such a great historical place for music! The Doors are one of my favourite bands, and growing up in LA, I've met so many people that have stories of Jim and seeing The Doors before they became such a musical icon. There's another great Jim mural over in Venice Beach if you ever get the chance! Definitely get your dad out to visit, I'm sure he'd really appreciate all the great Doors history that's still scattered around LA -- not to mention the Mojave Desert!
I've been watching your videos for a few years now and never comment, but today i am inspired to,i just want to say,you have such a gift,i admire your ability how you present historical accounts with old footage, you really do your homework and always give interesting information, your presentation is always first class ,you and Jessica are awesome!
This was a really cool video. I heard that Jim Morrison lived on Laurel canyon boulevard but I never knew where. That's awesome that the store is still there and some other things. That's so sad that is original house burned down. But it's good that you know the house was rebuilt even though it doesn't look exactly the same. It's still his house. I really enjoyed this. Thanks for doing this
Would be nice if you toured the various sites regarding the real Jim and Pamela, as a couple, outside of the Doors, outside of whatever myths and legends regarding the two (sure it’s been done before, but you two add a realistic perspective). They were in a real relationship, similar as other real couples, which includes the good, the bad and the mundane. Visit Pamela’s boutique, the house where we lost her, her forever home in Santa Ana (since Jim’s final home is pretty inaccessible to most of us), etc.. The two help make each other, and eventually destroyed each other.
Love the canyons in Los Angeles. Laurel, Topanga and Malibu. Anytime I needed to break on through to the valley I would always use the canyons and avoid the freeway. Cool video!
I adore “Love Street” - also Pamela was an absolutely beautiful redhead (and I love redheads - I sound like Wooderson from Dazed and Confused). That mural is gorgeous!
Oh loved this, thank you. Been a fan of Jim and Pam's story and the Doors music since I was about 13. Very nostalgic for me even though they have remained in my playlists thru all of my Iterations.
Thank you for sharing this video. It is awesome thinking about how Jim and Pam lived there and would watch the creatures going in and out of the store. The Doors are my favorite band and have been for over 25 years! Jim had a voice like no other and looks like no other. I've been to the Whiskey and actually saw a cover band of The Doors there and I would absolutely love to visit Love St someday. My parents raised us on the sounds of the 60s and I personally think no Era compares to the music of the magical 60s. I would have loved to have seen Jim Morrison perform with The Doors but I wasn't close to being born yet. My dad actually saw The Doors at the Whiskey before they were famous. So thank you dad for liking The Doors 😊 and The Stones and my mom The Beatles ❤️
Great video on Jim Morrison loved all his music grew up listening to Jim Morrison on my little transistor radio what a shame the original house Jim was in got burned great history very much appreciated :-)
Such a cool place. We went to this store to meet up and have some photos signed. I had no idea that the Morrison house was there until I took a short walk and saw the sign. Then others told me about it. I was blown away. While I was there I bought a drink and right in front of me was Tatum O'Neal which blew my mind. I had such a crush on her back in the day. Anyway, what a cool little place tucked away
I just rewatched The Doors movie on a whim the other day. How strange is that? Was thinking about Jim and his time on Earth. The movie, however, is mostly fiction. I grew up listening to The Doors thanks to my older brother, who loved the organ sound of Ray Manzarek. He became a professional musician and later worked as Ray's keyboard tech for almost a year when The Doors reunited with The Cult's Ian Astbury on vocals back in the early 2000s. I always have wanted to visit this place and I think I've found another trip destination inspired by The Grimm Life Collective. Happy Halloween, guys!
Jim's really ambition was to be a poet, he once said "I hate being a rock star" , his poetry set to music with the band made incredible songs, we were lucky to have him if only for a time
Jim was very unique in his own way. His music was unique as well. He will ever be forgotten. Thank you Grimmlife for posting this about a LEDGEND JIM MORRISON!!!!!
Great vid! Love the LA history stuff and especially Doors related subjects. Very cool you guys have a wealth of material right in your backyard. Thanks for doing this stuff!!
Right behind the opening mural used to be Ocean Studios where the first Evanescence record was recorded and Fall Out Boy's Sugar, We're Goin Down along with countless others.
Nice video u should get your dad out there we are only on this earth In till are Journey is over my dad just passed away use your time while you can because it will be over in a blink of a eye.. outstanding video....
Hey guys thanks for doing this video, big Doors fan here. This video is right up there with the video you did about Robert Johnson which was equally great !! Enjoyed the background music as well.
A little late to the party but really enjoyed this one. Been a fan of the Doors for over twenty, if not pushing 30 years. I had never seen this before, but very familiar with the lyric. Thanks for tying it together!
Did your dad ever see the Doors in concert ? This is just a suggestion, invite your dad to stay with you and Jessica for his birthday, and take him to all the spots he wants to see. If I could go back in time, I'd do that for my folks . I really regret I didn't do that . They both have passed on .
Love the channel and Love the Doors, watching this as I peek at the framed OG Jim Morrison Wanted poster on my wall that my late father got back in 1968.
I totally agree I love Hollywood as well love living there and I love all the art everywhere as well as all the nice nature I agree with you on all counts great video
They came to my house in Westfield, MA after their last Hartford concert. My dad's favorite cousin Vince Treanor was their road manager. He is 87 now and a completely self absorbed narcissist, just came back from South Korea after repairing Church organs for decades, has nothing to his name and Social Security doesn't give him crap. They way he talks about the "Korean boys" I'm sure they liked his stories. I only got one story out of him about the Doors, how Jim ate a hunk of hash in Amsterdam and had to be taken to the hospital. Jim didn't do cannabis generally.
he was going to be their manager after he proved to be so valuable in keeping their gear running but they decided his temper was a little too much so they gave him a raise instead and made Bill Siddons manager.
i dont think the world will hear a voice like Jim Morrison again
except for the old songs hey wrote Jim Morrison wrote
incredible voice for an untrained singer, Morrison had incredible vocal gift
For sure .One of a kind ❤️

Timeless music. Intelligent music. Enriched music. All the things that today's music can't reach. One of the absolute best rock bands - ever.

One of my favourite bands ! Love Jim Morrison
One of my favorite Doors songs!
Love The Doors since I was 11! I still have the 45 with Hello I Love You/Love Street!
that hellish bird noise might be a peacock.

Right behind the opening mural used to be Ocean Studios where the first Evanescence record was recorded and Fall Out Boy's Sugar, We're Goin Down along with countless others.

I am still a.big Doors fan too !!! Mama Cass lived there too !!! 🙏 💘
Beautiful mural of Jim and Pam the artist made it so good like their frozen in time. Good vlog
Love that you love the Doors. I'm currently editing his bodyguard's autobiography (he was the Stones' bodyguard as well).
I wish I could of seen Him live. He died when I was 5. I think I have most of their CDs. This was cool to watch. Ty🖤
Awesome, as always! Love your content and appreciate the work that you do.
Love the channel and Love the Doors, watching this as I peek at the framed OG Jim Morrison Wanted poster on my wall that my late father got back in 1968.
This was a great video and could tell you had fun making it. Thanks for taking us to all these iconic places.
