No disrespect to current or past lineups, but for me TBS lost so much when Fred left the band. This video proves it. Such a creative SOB and a solid teacher too. Thanks Fred!

agreed. New Again was decent to me. but all the following albums... terrible. i'll give a pass to maybe 2 songs on the self titled album, but the rest are honestly unlistenable.

If you have seen one of his videos before, ya'll will know Ed is pretty much the main riff composer of the band. I think they lost the "brain" for kicking him out lol.

@@johnnyhanel yup. Taking Back Sunday was my favorite band in middle school (around 05-07). Basically after louder now they just went down and down more. New Again had a couple good songs, but definitely an obvious step down from Louder Now. Louder Now is one of those albums where you would want to listen to every song from start to finish, and all of them will be enjoyable. New Again has many songs you’d want to skip through.
I was really hyped for the original line up reunion self-titled album, but the truth is that album only had a few good songs as well, and had a different vibe that obviously wasn’t the same as original 2002 TBS, like some people might’ve hoped it would be.
That was the last album I bought of TBS. After that album they started to sound less and less like TBS, a lot of the songs just seemed uninspired, Adam’s vocals got weaker and weaker where it feels like he’s not even trying to sound good when he sings, or it’s like he’s trying to adopt the vocal style of some old-style country singer or something.
It’s kind of sad, but they’re just totally different from how they originally were, their music no longer interests me. I thought that Tidal Wave song was boring and just seemed like them trying to sound like some old-school punk band or something.

In high school playing this song impressed so many people. I remember one of the first times I met the singer of my old band and we were trading an acoustic around showing each other different songs we’d written. He mentioned that he loved that song and wished he could learn how to play it. I immediately started playing it and it blew his mind. Lol I taught him the whole song that night. I wish I would have learned more songs off louder now. I guess I could start now.

Yo Fred! I'm an asian kid that grew up in small town Iowa. WHERE YOU WANT TO BE changed my life when I was 14 years old. Back in 2004 - it made me feel all the things I never knew how to convey. Now as an adult, it takes me right back to the feelings I wish I could experience for the first time again. I'm a legit working screenwriter / comedian now and I got into the prestigious Sundance Labs with a TV pilot I wrote about a 14 year old Asian kid growing up in 2004 who is confused about where he fits in the world. He hears New American Classic off of a burnt CD his friend gives him and his life is forever changed. That's where the show starts. Just wanted to share. Thanks for everything. Never stop making stuff!

You need to keep at it. If a 16 year old dumbass (me 14 years ago)can teach himself guitar, pretty sure a functional adult can do it. There's so many tutorials and teachers in RUclips nowadays. Just learn how to form chord fingerings and learn the notes at first. No need to be in a hurry. Good luck.

And usually underrated songs don’t have a lot of great tutorials (if at all - i.e. Good Charlotte’s Standing Ovation) so I stupidly never thought to look for this, but to stumble on it and the guy teaching be the og composer of the song is un-freakin-real.
