I love that you can see their original idea and then as they were writing their brain just lost the plot, they started throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. Honestly that's my writing process in a summary.
I havent read that first book but the Prince's arrangement with his brother not only sounds like twincest but noncon. The women think they're going to be sleeping with his brother not him. I was gonna read it for shits and giggles but after that...yeah no
Based on the very few details of those encounters, I think the author was trying to make it sound consensual- but it's such an icky situation. Then you add them both being in positions of power too... Yeah, I'm not buying that every girl the twin brought home was 100% on board.
I love that the author of the first book thought the only way to convey a kind person is to make her extremely meek and unwilling to leave an abusive situation because she donates her entire paycheck to charity. 💀 mama, what on earth was she thinking!? EDIT: IT GOT SO MUCH WORSE OH LORD
Never thought I'd have reason to defend the dubious depiction of substances in one of these books lol... But I do know a girl who has spontaneous orgasms on MDMA. I've seen it in person when partying with her. I don't think it's common, but it does happen!
@@sadgirl2.0 Yup... Curled up on the floor in the foetal position and everything. I actually thought she was having a bad reaction and got pretty concerned at first, then the rest of the group we were with told me "oh she's fine, she just gets spontaneous orgasms on MDMA".
Just found this, and as a huge fairy tale fan, I am HERE for trash retelling (as in breaking them down). Bring the despair! I do love the Cinderella story, but think it's been done to death.
@victoriadirereads oh for sure! I think so many of them have just seemed so copy + paste. I enjoyed Ella Enchanted quite a lot, for example, but it seems every time I turn around SOMEONE has made another live action movie. I went on quite a rant about it one day. I'm now turning this over as a more adult themed retelling, if only as a writing exercise.
retellings losing the plot is my least favorite thing ever😭😭

I love how the furry book seemed as the most bizarre and ended up being the only good one of the list lmao
Right?? Did not see that one coming.

Picturing Brock as the guy from Pokémon. With blonde hair.

I think a good writer could do Cinderella in a fresh new way but uh... these authors weren't even trying 😭

Ah yes a retelling that has nothing to do with the source material 😂
AKA when the book has nothing going for it and you slap a 'retelling' stamp on it :D
I love watching your videos 😭 I wish I found you sooner bae
