I was so nervous about my C&P exam but the Dr was very nice, supportive and understanding. She went in to everything and gave me time to explain things. She asked questions that helped me remember things I could not in which made my case stronger. Then she recommended I go to the VA to register for therapy and provided me with contact information. As well explaining different treatment methods for PTSD. Awaiting my rating. Wish everyone else had the same experience

The day I went to my C&P exam, I arrived 30 min early to the parking lot. Stayed inside the car looking at pics of some of my buddies who committed "suicide" (according to CID, I think that they got murdered due to whistleblowing but can't prove it) while listening to a specific song which was played during their memorial service. It killed me but I had to do it. I cried inside my car like a maniac and just at that moment got out of my car and went into the examiner's office. The staff noticed I wasn't doing good at all, they offered me water (which I declined) and tissues. It hurt me but I wanted them to see me how I am in my worst day. I went in shorts, old t-shirt and old tennis shoes and my black tactical backpack. I didn't shave for about a week. I talked to the examiner about the event while tearing up, the symptoms and all that. She asked me about my childhood and I said "it was great" and went back to topic which was my symptoms and the non combat related event. I checked 3 weeks ago with my VSO who showed me the examiner's report who concluded PTSD was "more than likely related to military service." The 3 negatives that the VSO noticed were:
      1. talked about the event fluently (wanted to make sure she understood)
      2. good eye contact while talking (wanted to make sure I wasn't avoiding eye contact like hiding something)
      3. properly groomed and dressed (I don't think I was but to each their own)
I haven't received a decision letter yet since it has only been month and a half since the C&P exam. The VSO told me not to hold my breath on this (and that any surprise can happen) but there may be a chance I would get 30% or 50% at the most, which I would gladly take and work on secondaries. We'll see.

Went and did my C&P exam last week. Forgot to tell them my mother in law died in a car accident. Me and my wife were in when a Nurse was drunk and high hit us. She died a few hours later in the ER. Didn't give them any reason to deny my claim. I didn't have a diagnosis of PTSD and never sought out any help. I wish I had submitted my Buddy Letters first before I submitted a claim. I was harassed and threatened by my NCOs and Xo. They denied my request for cross-training after I scored higher on the ASVAB in the top 10% and they denied my request to transfer to another base and swap with someone. They tried to humiliate me by trying to get the First Shirt to make me pick up trash on base in my Dress Blues. I have been out of the Air Force since 2006. Im awaiting my status from the VA. I had to do a HLR because they didn't at first do a C&P exam for PTSD, only for the tinnitus.

Hey devil dog, I have my CNP exam coming up two weeks from today. Secondary related for chronic pain for back and feet. Had an IMO diagnosed me with major depressive disorder and anxiety in April. I have been going to the VA for the last year and a half for my back and my feet as it’s getting progressively worse, MRIs, x-rays, the whole gambit. I have my own medical record as I’ve been out for 21 years, or retired for 21 years, and I brought a copy of it with me. I’m not sure what the VA is sending with my claim other than my claim and the IMO DBQ, that they filled out. Should I take my medical record with me that pertains to injuries on my back and feet only?as the only diagnosis I’ve had for depression is with the IMO in April. Your thoughts?

I was diagnosed with severe depression when I was 30 and prescribed lexapro. I got a current diagnosis and nexus for depression. I am active duty at the moment with only a few months left. I have been diagnosed by a civilian physician with PTSD/depression and OCD all linked to the same stressor that is military related. I sent my VSO all of the necessary documents stating all of this. However, in the intake notes, it annotates my troubled childhood and an altercation I had with my dad while still on active duty. My question is, will this impact my C&P exam somehow and what to say if they ask about my childhood. I'd hate to screw it up because of this. Also, the stressor for my PTSD and OCD is non combat related. It might sound silly, but it's due to rendering Military Funeral Honors. I have completed 612 funeral honors to date with sometimes designated as the coordinator, others just as my next turn to go. I appreciate any insight. Thank you.

I was in the Military from 86 to mid 91 , I served in Desert Storm with the patriot battalions in Israel. I had pretty bad insomnia , depression and anxiety from mutilating injuries I witnessed during duties before going on deployment, I starting drinking to sleep and started calling in sick because of headaches and depression, stomach problems. I got harrassed by my chain of command for "riding sick call. All they ever did was give me motrin and peptobismal. After awhile i just suffered through it. During deployment I saw a lot of the aftermath of missile strikes, experienced multiple bombings, things got bad again with insomnia and I started getting written up for job performance and appearance...topped off with almost assaulting an nco that was continuously riding me and calling me a p5ssy and the like because i was always complaining of not sleeping and being sick. I was threatened with a field-grade article 15 that would have had me dishonorably discharged and might have included jail time according to them. They said it was the article 15 or accept an early-out with a bar to reenlistment and i just had 3 months left on my enlistment. When I ETS'd I was told they had lost all my records and that they didnt even have a DD214 for me, no medical records. So I spent a month and a half in the barracks at Fort Dix on emergency pay. When i finally was dischargered , all i had was my dd214 and no medical records to look at or copy, not ets breifing , no V.A interviews...nothing. I still no medical records and I have my first PTSD cp interview tomorrow. I worked as a federal LEO for the past 21 years and could not risk a psych problem disqualifying me for armed service. Now i have no medical records. Is there anyway my claim will be approved?

Why would she try to do such a thing when none of them made sense it was like she was trying to get me to talk about my childhood instead of the PTSD stuff when I never had problems during my childhood I see that is a thing for them to do so when you get done with your exam. They deny you on the spot because they’re going to say oh his PTSD is not really PTSD is just a trigger from his childhood that I haven’t addressed. This is very sick.way to confused vets

So…this is a great questions and is something that’ll be hard to explain over comments, but I’ll try. ASK ME IN MY LIVE!!!
Does a Fully Developed Claim require a C&P Exam? The answer is, no. If a C&P Exam is required, it’s because the VA needs more information.
Now this is where it gets weird…If you truly do have a fully developed claim, so the in-service event, service-connection/Nexus is there, and you have a current diagnosis AND you’ve submitted a private DBQ, then…you could literally not attend the C&P Exam and be awarded.
It’s weird because…there are a TON of factors that play into that decision and you’ll have to evaluate that yourself. Factors like; did the Nexus come from a medical doctor or a physician assistant? Psychologist or Psychiatrist; this matters. Is it a ‘complete’ nexus meaning, does it have all the aspects the VA needs?

Do you need an in service event for a BDD claim?

    • @TheCivDiv
      @TheCivDiv  Год назад

In the case of a BDD claim it’s a bit easier to prove something is related to service while diagnosed in-service. That’s not a pass to not get a diagnosis prior to your 180 day mark from ETS/EAS. Best if you get the diagnosis, or at least have a complaint in your records.

I 2nd what Tony Smith said. Depending on your evidence, and your exam, the VA will examine the severity of your symptoms. If denied, and you believe that decision is wrong. You can always appeal with a private DBQ.

I’m cautious at first glance of creating an IMO without any evidence from service. Was there ‘evidence other than medical’ that was reviewed and included within the IMO? To answer your question, as long as this IMO is a ‘good’ IMO, then the answer is always yes.
