Is he having a laugh ? That summer they signed Van Nistelrooy, Juan S Verón and Roy Carroll for a combined £50m which was a big sack of money at that time for player spending. Hardly short of dough were they and if they had intended to sell Stam then surely he would have been involved in a swap deal with Lazio for Juan S Verón. 🤔

30:00 Stam was 100% right with every thing he said there. Fergie was a great man Manager, a good motivator and he could set up a Team to win, yes, but in order to dominate in Europe, you need more than this. That’s why United, despite the good Teams they had, never managed to dominate in europe like Real, Bayern, Milan or Ajax did. And that’s also why Fergie got schooled TWICE by Pep in two UCL finals. The tactical thinking was always for others to handle. Even in 99‘ it was due to two lucky individual moments why they won and Bayern simply throwing it away after demolishing United for almost 90 monutes desspite also missing two major players.Nothing more.

What he said about Ferguson wasn't even bad. Sometimes you have to let great players do their thing. Of course tactics at times come into it

fergie need control and total belief was his players to work. thats why i believe he would have sold rooney if he had stayed. if you think your big enough to criticize the boss, you're gone.

Probably the most intimidating United defender in memory, I have seen Pallister play, Bruce and the others, even Robson (midfielder), but Stam was easily the most fear invoking player/defender I've seen for United. Even more than Vidic. Even more intimidating than Mark Hughes...

I know why Simon wants to challenge and pick through Jaap’s answers BUT he constantly cut him off and interrupted his responses without letting Jaap finish! Simon hasn’t done this to the same extent in his interviews with other guests. I felt for Jaap. He stayed really calm and answered as best he could but I’m amazed he didn’t chin Jordan or just walk out! I enjoy these pods but SJ far too full of himself in this one!

Maguire stayed because we wouldn’t pay him off, he took the risk of being a bench player for money btw, don’t get it mixed up that he fought for his place, he only got back in because of injury’s and it will be the same this season. He won’t play.

It's pretty obvious now that Fergie's players, especially in that period, really were not friends at all. Schmeichel, Keane, Sheringham, Cole, Stam....they don't really have kind words for each other these days but put it all aside to be ruthless winners on the pitch.

His book wasn’t a criticism of SAF like Simon Jordan pushed. It was accurately just saying Ferguson trusted the players but in Europe a different approach could have been effective. That’s not a big criticism

Jaap Stam is a class act not calling out SAF for selling him because of the book. It's clear why he and Keane were sold (and Beckham). No person is bigger than the club or SAF so soon as things like thiis crop up there's only one outcome.
