- Episode 1.Henry takes on three cases at once in order to close his financial shortfall, including an immigrant rug dealer accused of false advertising, an alleged fence dealing in stolen property, and a former mental patient accused of drowning her boyfriend's two children.
The Brief follows the work of defence barrister Henry Farmer (Alan Davies), whose complicated personal life manages to overlap into his work. With an overbearing workload, debt and alimony payments to meet, as well as being in love with the wife of a prominent politician who won't leave her husband for him, Henry is forced to set his own demons to one side to tackle cases that only he can win. The show was described by the Radio Times as an "engaging blend of courtroom drama, suspense, intrigue and humour".

There are many Lawyers that are good, as Lawyers, BUT there are few good Lawyers.
like Columbo, Mr farmer wins again, and again...and again but he does gamble, the girlfriend doesn't seem to mind.....(we never see any angry scenes...) and always seems to make enough to stay afloat....... (so we forgive him?) and is very likable.......and rides a bike!
This is ne of the best shows!

I'm not a big fan of Alan Davies as a comedian but as a serious actor as in this and Jonathan Creek he's not too bad.
Is this other series, Jonathan Creek that you mentioned, on you tube ?
I'm guessing that you've seen "Bob and Rose," but I'm mentioning it in case you haven't. Very good series, and Lesley Sharp (the co-star) is very good, too.
@@mumtazamiri6409 Any show or movie that is still running and/or is a moneymaker (as was the case with "Jonathan Creek") will never be on YT.
YT has sophisticated software that scans every upload before the uploader is allowed to publish it. The purpose of the scan is to ensure that copyrighted material is either prevented from coming on the site or, if the copyright holder will allow it to be shared, to add adverts that benefit the copyright holder. (I know this bc I've had several YT channels over the years -- American movies from the 1930s and 1940s -- and I couldn't publish any movie that was still profitable.)

Have you seen the series "Silk"? Now *that* one is savage. More dramatic then this, not at all a feel-good -- but a very, very good series.

Good thing about Tube is you can fast-forward thru the boring bits, like everything about the woman who's charged with drowning her kids. Or his stupid triangle of a relationship. Or his drag of a son who lives in a little speaker box on his phone.
Btw. I can tell you right now that that over-educated, overly ambitious son set his dad up with the stolen computers. Prove me wrong.

I can't stand watching these English movies.
They make every little thing seem to be a big deal.
I have tried watching and liking then, but only found one I liked: : "About a Boy", with Hue Grant. All the rest seem to be a disappointment. To me!

One, this is a TV show, not a movie. Two, there is tremendous variation in the shows (or movies) produced by any nation -- they don't all rely on the same approach, tropes, plots, etc. Three, you can't spell. Four, get your head out of your azz and join the real world, with rational people who don't believe in the imaginary man in the sky and who therefore understand the importance of living an ethical life here on Earth -- bc this is all there is.
