- When raising orphaned possums, it's important to have a secure cage with plenty of room, and to be able to separate them if they fight. This video shows the cage I made just for this purpose.

I need a part 5 of the opossum diet! What exactly are the measurements for the adults?
how do you determine age of possum i have one that was brought me to try to save i have save bunnies and squirrels before so though it is not allowed here i am giving it my best go
Okay your possums looks about the age my 4 are now so guess my little ones are ready to go outside
Don't you mean opossums?
nice :) they so sweet :)
Do they dig?....are they small enough to fit through the bottom if they DO dig? 😅
I ended up adding finer mesh to the bottom, not for the possums, but to keep snakes or mice out.
Do u have a pic of your plans?
i'm definitely not a predator as well!
That seemed like such an out of place comment till I saw the part with Molly
To small. There going to get alot bigger.
I think he's gonna release them before they get real big. So I'm pretty sure it's fine for a temporary stay.
@@emmaanthony9967 No, even at such a small size. They need the space for exercise.
@@heropaws7515 perhaps so. I wasn't 100% sure when I typed that 😅
@@emmaanthony9967 Its fine, I have owned Opussums as pets for 12 years. Sadly they commonly end up with stunted growth, obesity & extra due to being kept in small cages. If they don't get enough exercise. They will get obese extremely fast. The one I have know is a rescue. The people how owned him, had him on a poor extremely diet, kept him in a small cage like this but also with wire bottoms. He has sores and cuts on his feet. That I'm treating plus even though he is about the size of these guys. He's extremely over weight, has laberd breathing and other problems from not being able to exercise. I just made the comment hoping. If anyone wanting one as a pet will think twice about this size of a habitat.
Why not find two that get along so they have company. You’re not gonna let them live their life in a cage are you? They need to climb trees and explore, they only live 2 or 3 years, give them some freedom
Opossums are nocturnal and solitary animals. They may resort to canibalism if one is larger. This one shown here is still a baby and might get released when matured.
