gregpryorhomestead Couldn’t remember what my comment was about.... so I ended up watching again. I’m gonna go find me a possum to rescue... they’re so damn cute! I ❤️ OCD
What type of flea meds? I have a little one I rescued and he appears to be about 4 months old. I have given him 3 baths and still can’t get them all off.
@@jennahmelton just regular advantage for cats. But i use a flea comb when i was bathing it. I used flea soap...dont remember the brand...and use the comb. I made sure to get his head wet and lathered first since the fleas all rush to the head when they're going in water. After that i put on the flea meds.
I rescued a baby opossum that I was shocked to turn around in my office and see a baby weak little guy laying on my steps in my house. I had no idea what to do. After searching and reading on the Internet, I learned to get them slowly warmed up and hydrated. The little guy wasn't reacting. I notice the same situation with fleas on him. So I gave him a warm bath and removed as many as I could. Once I placed him in the water, he really became super active. I didn't have the comb. I honestly had no idea what I was doing. I wish I had found this channel. I can't believe that youtube did not show me this channel in my searches. My only guess is that the spelling of possums verse oppssum. I really wish I saw this channel way earlier. The amount of information is everything I was looking for. Anyways, after I removed as many fleas as I could, and the bath warmed him up, he finally started to eat after having him for 2 days. Needless to say I was so thrilled that he turned into his little opossum ways and became active. I ended up finding a Wildlife Rehab Center in Goleta California and took him there a couple weeks ago. We are taking up some of the puppy formula I had ordered from Amazon, that arrived after we dropped him off later this week. I don't know if I will see him when I go up there, because I don't think anybody keeps track of which opossum that was brought in. Thank you so much for this channel and the info. Wish I had seen it sooner. Wanted to share my experience. This is by far the best resource out there. Please consider including the alternative spelling as well in your video. I needed the one I found Scrappy.
I highly recommend you look into a product called Spinosad! It’s a natural product made from soil bacteria. It’s non toxic and works instantly and has great residual effect. I use it on my Opossums. Just mix a little with water, wet the fur with it and let dry. They can lick themselves and it won’t hurt them. I use it on my dog and cat too. I never have to deal with fleas anymore. Spinosad works perfect every time and is much safer than even dish soap. You’ll never use anything else once you try it. You can buy the stuff on amazon. Look for Monterey brand. Stuff is cheap and will last a very long time.
Thank God for people like you to help save them I think the precious and they’re cute so glad he’s OK I think it’s wonderful you’re helping the little baby I love them I think they’re cool😊🤣💙❤️💕💕💕
"Saving one animal won't change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal." I wrap critters in a soapy small towel / rag like a cape which cuts off the escape for those trying to run to the head. Plus being swaddled in a warm soapy towel makes them feel a little safer.
I found your video while looking up info on helping “orphaned and injured opossums”. I’ve been pouring over everything I can get my eyes on for the past 36-ish hrs since finding this little guy, that I now have the responsibility (& privilege) of helping heal and hopefully thrive. I would love to know if you’d be willing to answer some questions or chat a little via email? I have a couple questions and would love someone’s help that has experience with these little guys, and isn’t just a wildlife rehabilitation “specialist” bc they say so.😏 I’ve nursed many, many babies back to health, and I’ve rescued and rehabilitated for my entire life - it’s in my blood - but never an opossum! Lol But oh how I’m glad he came into my life because I’ve now properly educated myself about these little treasures, as well as my family and friends! :) If you’d be willing to chat a minute I would truly appreciate it! Thanks a million for all you and your family (I’m guessing from video?) are doing! You seem like very compassionate and responsible people who are such a blessing to the little babies who would otherwise be dead! What angels you are!! Thanks for making this channel. I hope others can learn more about these spectacular creatures and a big thanks for putting it out there that compassion, kindness, empathy, those are all things that make a person STRONG & RESPECTABLE!☺️❤️ Have a wonderful day!!
Tried to rescue a baby possum yesterday that was covered in 100’s of fleas. It took me 3 hours to remove all of them. Unfortunately, he had already lost too much blood. He didn’t make it…
Greg you’re amazing!! May I ask where you are located? We found a baby opossum who is about the same size as your part 1 babies and no rehabilitation centers will take her because she isn’t visibly injured 😢 she was seen by our neighbors being dumped on a very busy road and we just want the best for her!
We recently found a baby possum that was orphaned out in our yard. it's barely 5 inches long (counting the tail) and it's covered in fleas. Do you recommend this for a possum of his size?
The soap 🧼 didn’t seem to bother it’s eyes 👀 I found a little ☝🏻 a month ago. They don’t blink much. I noticed my little one moving grass rubbing against its eyes in the yard with no blinking
Sweet baby..I found a baby and I need to de flea her..she's about the same size but she only has one ear.. something ate it off..she hisses but do most not bite you?
It can survived with one eye ,if possums are totally blind cause of parasites and they survived too More important is her sweet sniffnose ,the sniffer must 100% work ,when not ,poor poss don t found food and will die
Pete Darby it is definitely uncomfortable for them. Try putting diluted dawn in your eyes! It’s not pleasant. I use Spinosad for my Opossums. Safe, non toxic and won’t cause any discomfort. Works 100% every time I ever use it.
I'd be very wary of bathing any animal in anything other than water or a specially developed shampoo. I used dish soap on a rabbit years ago and it killed him. Broke my heart.
I trap them in a 3ft long by 12in square trap. Quality Farm And Fleet, Tractor Supply Co, Cabella’s sell them. But it’s all in the bait. 1/6 slice of apple works. But the last time I trapped one I just put the trap on the path it kept using every night with no bait at all!
The fact that you alligned them in that perfect grid is astonishing
The grid pattern is sooooo weird ! Lol
Ocd?

That part cracked me up!
Ya how did he align the fleas so perfectly? Amazing. 😊✨🌺
I found a similar sized possum in my yard... gave it a bath and flea meds. Now he just comes back every night and eat where i left food for him.

How old do they have to be to shower them??
cute
I Love the way you talk and handle these little guys, you're so wholesome!
Tommy Crump I loved that part too!! I bet he was a great dad!! I wish I was a baby and he was my dad!!!
You placing the fleas on the paper towel like that, was the most interesting and peculiar thing I have ever seen anyone do! 💕
How adorable, he's getting that 5 star treatment! Lucky fella.
He's a cute little scamp!
Poor baby! Thank you so much for taking care of these sweet creatures.
Possums:fleas, what are fleas
Fleas:we are being evected
My OCD is satisfied XD love how you aligned the fleas at the end 👍
He is such a little guy. Thank you for saving him!

Oh and I subscribed. +1 and thumps up and all the other cool hippie stuff. Peace.
Poor baby , thank God for people like you that care 💞❤❤❤❤
He's adorable! Great job giving him a bath♥
Squiggle Bums is his name now. He's adorable!
My hats off to you. Possums hate a bath. The only time my opie ever tried to bite.
Thank you for helping this precious baby!

Good idea. Could also put the Dawn in a circle around the neck before putting the creature in the water. It's what we do for kittens.
What a sweet baby!💘
Bless you for saving that adorable baby 🤗💕
Thank you for caring for our furry little friend.
This looks so soothing....been on this earth 27 yrs and this is the best I can get lol
Anybody else feelin’ itchy after watching this video?!? Bleck! Cute li’l ‘possum, though!

Aww what a cutie! Sure hope he feels better!🧡
Awwwww He’s sooo adorable
That kind of things give me faith in humanity and life
thanks for doing this. very underappreciated animal.
Thank you for helping the little guy out.
This man is so pure tho, love what you do man
Dude was counting fleas 😹
Gotta love opossums! We had one once. Sweet animals.
May God reward y’all for being soo kind to his creatures Ameen
This is wholesome as hell.
Prays god there are great people still breathing 100 thumbs up fantastic video.
God bless you and thank you for caring for these beautiful animals.
Your flea grid was Awesome !!! Pure Greatness.
I love what you are doing I love them too!
That's incredible you helped that little guy. He won't be loosing blood to the flees and will feel stronger
Be careful. Fleas can be in water a long time and seem dead and revive back after being out of the water a while. I've witnessed this first hand.
What a ridiculously adorable furbaby!! 😍
Oppossum is the most misunderstood marsupial. They are not vermin. They are beautiful animals.
Awee you guys are so kind with this little baby !! He is so cute! I love that you are giving him the treatment he needs ❤️
This is amazing. Are you able to keep the fleas away with just Dawn? I love this!!!
No they just get washed off and drown in it. It has no effect on any new fleas that jump on.
So nice of you guys..🌻
awwww he's do adorable
Cute little flea bag
Cute as hell. I have a wild one I feed nightly. Tonight she had London broil and mashed potatoes. She gavoned it down in 3 seconds

Thank u man. Thank u so much. Wish I were in a position to Patreon you right now, I wouldn't hesitate.
Wow that’s a lot of fleas I bet he feels better
You are too sweet !
On New Hampshire country roads I have frequenty seen in the morning possum killed the previous night .Is it wise to check for poutch babys?
I always caught fleas with my hand, without the help of a comb.

How do you know if there not caring any disease?
I found 1 like the video, what kind of shampoo can i use?
You guys are amazing.....is there a way I can e mail you ? I could really use a bit of advice...thank you for being awesome to animals!!!!!!
Did you actually space out those fleas in a grid pattern? Quite impressive
Bravo I like any animal that eats bugs. Especially bats and lizards .
You can use kitten flea control after giving them a Dawn bath. Some of those adult fleas are expert at evading the combing and soap.
What about when they are adults? Are you able to use adult cat flea collars or topical treatment or should you stick to kitten?

Best bet would be to call a rehab center or a vet.

I have a possum he's only about 4 or 5 months, he's always got a bunch of fleas, but baths make him go crazy n I pay for it with scratches lol
Squigglebums!
So can you take. baby possum a shower ? Or do you wait a lil
I want a possum
I know we is kinda primitive but what is that critter with the shinny eye looking at me? (Camera)

The little bud is so squirmy lol refusing to take a bath.
The Dawn is not burning his eyes?
Too cute
Did he ever bite you? We just found one at our art studio that we’re trying to take care of but concerned he’ll bite us
Ok I have a baby opossum ..not as big as the one you showed.. How do u know the sex???
Thankyou for cleaning g that little fellow bless hin

nona glonuzztis yes, their hearing and sense of smell are the strongest senses they have!
Fleas lying in a row. This is something to worry about.
Ncaaaaawwww!! Do you have updates on this little guy please?
I'm shocked at the number of fleas.
I was going to comment something mean but you people are awesome, sorry for the initial bad thoughts.
Thank you

Mine has fleas too. I was going to use cat shampoo. You know they're good animals if you can handle them in a bath. Cats aren't this cool.
do they smell like ferrets?
❤️❤️❤️
