I was wondering when you would comment on this! I've been telling everyone who will listen about it. Your rhythm was absolute fire on this track. I shared it with my 12 year old and they loved it. I said that drummer is in his 70s! They were so surprised. They definitely learned a lesson about age that day. 🤘😁 You are a badass, Mr. Paice!

So good to see you again after what seemed an age. Thanks for the explanation, very enlightening but, for me as an ageing rock drummer, the best part was your saying exactly what I feel - Reggae is just alien. Total respect to those who do it well but I can't 'feel' it at all and I am gratified that one of the players I respect most has said the same thing! All the best to you and yours, Mr. Paice - here's hoping you can get back on stage soon.
Eloquently put as always Ian and it’s good to see you back on here. As someone else had commented, how is the Yoyoka/Sina collaboration coming on? Many are waiting in anticipation! Be safe good man.
I like it Sir Ian Paice !! I admire you as a musician and as person. It's a pleasure to hear your playing .. anything you play it's full of swing .. groove .. and such a great touch of feeling. Congrats keep on !

Ian thank you for sharing all this you never had too but we do need gentlemen about now.....in rock! I got arthritis from beating skin grooving allong to your grooves... rock on!
As a drummer myself, the bottom line is we like to play drums. Any time we get a chance to do something new and interesting we do it. Simple as that and Ian being a drum god can do whatever heck he wants .
Those who complained about things like: music syle, click track, eventual revenue, or type of production are clearly not getting what being a musician and artist means. I am a drummer producer myself that took you as my main inspiration for many years an I not just agree with what you say but I am also proud of having you as a point of reference. More music I play and listen to and less I care about how it's labled, I think music and arts in general are all about transmitting an idea- emotion how we do it is just a choiche of tool to get to the result. I myself with time broke many times the barriers of "style" i previously had and that's what keep my ideas fresh and what makes music fun, music it's not a fix concept but rather a fluent river of mutual influencies.
Ian you are my favourite drummer of all time. No need to justify what you're up to buddy. That rythum reminds me of space trucking MIJ. I've often wondered why your drums on that track and album haven't been sampled and used. Maybe they have. Thanks for being so down to earth and accessable during these crazy times. This is very dynamic to hear this news. I'm not surprised as Ian has played many styles funk in Purple in the mid 70s with Glenn Hughes. But Ian is still the super rock drummer. Him and Bonham are the greatest rock drummers funnily Bonham was sampled ad finitum in the 90s by rappers. I like to hear his comments about reggae wow amazing but typically humble. I kind of get him. I think Steve lives on a starship.
"SIR" IAN PAICE, whatever you hold with your hands, it becomes gold, that's why it does not matter if some people like it or not, it does matter that it also became gold ........ Thank you for everything you have given us ...... and there are so many !!!! ........
I still have the CD where Ian talks about “rap crap”. I never accepted genres and their implied boundaries. Back in the day disco was considered inferior. Ritchie Blackmore was accused of liking pop music. At the same time we had ABBA. I’m not sure why Ian has reservations about reggae. As far as I am concerned Ian played a reggae like beat in “Maybe I’m a Leo”. Brilliant! It’s on of the most underrated DP tracks.
Good for you. I think compared to a lot of genres Hip Hop is fantastic. It has a lot of musical content the drums being catchy and captivating and sitting well in the mix. It just doesn't rely on chord progressions usually which is interesting and educational in its own right. I think a lot of drummers appreciate and enjoy some Hip Hop. The beats and patterns are fun and challenging. Hip Hop is in my book way more listenable than a lot of genres I will not mention to save embarrassment.
I dont understand where's the problem? If a musician want's to do something different to his style so why not ! You cannot eat the same meal every day !
