Provided it has enough mobility to be able to feed and hasn't been punctured to the point that it's damaged any internal organs, it should survive. Hi Danny, Wow! that's bad luck mate. Unbelievable how it got through that gap. It might help to add some Acriflavin to the pond mate, to sort out any bacterial problems that may arise. Take care, Terry.
Really bad luck unfortunately, even worse that the dog was out at the time. Unfortunately the poor thing didn't survive the night. So gutted. I will keep acriflavin in mind for if I have any issues in the future. Worked wonders on chunky by the look of things
What bad luck! I built and run a 1000l hospital tank in the garage for this sort of reason. Any accidents or bacterial issues and they’re straight in a controlled environment. Shame the little thing didn’t make it :(

Oh mate, never! To be fair pal you did well to keep it going for as long as you did. Had a small sanke get pushed over the window by the bigger fish before it’s a right pain. Was looking forward to seeing what you could get out of it 🥲

We all know new fish jump, but to get through that tiny gap is extremely bad luck. It can be saved for sure, I'd be inclined to put it in a QT tank ideally with another small koi, although your set up with the heat pump and fry net isn't a bad option so as to maintain water parameters. Tamodine, Salt and elevated temps would be the course of action I'd take as well. Best of luck with it. If he's still alive after 3 days then he is a survivor for sure.

I've had one in a similar state, a young male Showa strangely enough, a similar physical state minus the teeth marks, looked like I was going to lose him for a good week or 2, then went through a stage of thick mucous or fungus, and then suddenly pulled through and added 10cm that same year!
I lost an 18" golden Orfe once... I had my whole pond covered with netting.... Except for the back of my waterfall blade, which was only 4" above the water level. Dam thing had jumped up to the blade, and flipped itself up over the back and fell 4ft down and was brown bread by the morning when i found it :(
Totally gutted for you especially seeing as I missed out on it .. id get some acriflavin in there too just to be on the safe side . Fingers crossed it pulls through

I'll definitely be getting jump gauds once my covers are off. I didn't for a second think it would get out that gap. Absolutely gutted about it but lesson learned
@@dannycurrie1 best thing I’ve done myself mate when you have parasites they jump a bit worth it in the long run but still have a small gap in between the glass I had a small 1 get through when they were feeding the larger ones pushed him out by accident I haven’t got any small ones in the pond yet when I do I will put something in between the gap all the best buddy 👍

Definitely was a bit freaked by all the big fish. Think it's a bit too small to be adding into a pond full of large fish. If I'd had a few it might now have been an issue

Just recently my german shepherd broke my miniature pinschers front leg, it needed to be amputated, talk about heartbreaking, looking at her now without her leg :(
When you buy a new koi, you can almost guarantee you will trigger parasites on the fish, this is one of the reasons you should quarantine them if facilities allow. Did kev not tell you this ? Or did he just sell you the fish ?

HEAT HEAT I had a new koi swim through a skimmer into my Drum for about 3 hrs ripped itself to pieces on the sharp steel blinded by the UV ,cleaned every 20 minutes KOI ripped 6 fins to pieces can't tell any thing has happened eight months later ?? Put the heater up as much as you can afford ,it was a lesson to me skimmers are not koi safe had to buy a fish guard ?????????
Sounds like a real miracle that survived. Unfortunately mines gone already. Obviously had some serious internal injuries. I had got a hospital tank set up ready for it but it was too far gone. So gutted

Some advice tosai don’t mix well with large koi,Put them in a dedicated grow on facility,Think the fish should be euthanised it’s never going to be any good on the rare chance it survives.
Never going to be any good? It's a living being if it fights through it it deserves to live if it's all about the looks of take any battle scarred fish above it being euthanized for some missing scales and a missing pec fin

Have it been eaten by perennial fish? It is preferable to keep them on TOSAI only until they grow to about 30 cm.

Unfortunately it didn't survive the night. Absolutely gutted. I was going to get some ordered. Obviously had some more serious internal injuries 😥
@@dannycurrie1 gutted mate iv had couple fish jump out then changed pond design to help stop it , it probly was for the best it looked in pain and damage would also been internal hope james can sort something for you

Some advice tosai don’t mix well with large koi,Put them in a dedicated grow on facility,Think the fish should be euthanised it’s never going to be any good on the rare chance it survives.
Never going to be any good? It's a living being if it fights through it it deserves to live if it's all about the looks of take any battle scarred fish above it being euthanized for some missing scales and a missing pec fin
