Years ago when I started in the floral industry carnations played an important part in funeral work and Valentines day. Funny how trends change. Your work is always gorgeous!
Thank you! Yes, and some of the Christmas artificials are really nice - and they last , it just depends on how long you need it for. Fresh is ideal if for an actual dinner rather than longterm display 😀🙋🏼♂️
Wow! Stunning festive arrangement! I can almost smell the pine! I always associate red roses and carnations with Christmas. The "Clove" carnations adds depth. Love it, as always, John 💕
So nice! The carnation seems to be making a “comeback”! I love them. A really nice touch to add the clove carnation and bring in that richer color. Thank you, John from Texas!
Thanks, John! This is a beautiful piece and I like the fact that you seem to have sourced your greens from the garden or a walk perhaps. You read my thoughts when you mentioned mantle for that was my first thought on seeing the lead in to the video. Arrangements such as this do last and while traditional in over all design and color, can be "updated" as you have done with thistle. Tulips, hyancinths, anthurium, gerberas, are a few flowers that come to mind. As always you have inspired and brought joy! All good wishes!
Thank you 😀 i think that is the thing at Christmas, you can make a base item into your own - then just change the colours, or add your preference of decor 😀 I like your spring flowers suggestions - these would look really special. Glad this brought you some inspiration - it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Best regards to you 🙋🏼♂️
Una excelente explicación muy detallada para personas que no tienen conocimiento de floristería y una buena elección del follaje base del arreglo , unido al gran colorido de las rosas rojas crea un bello y equilibrado arreglo floral.
That’s lovely! I’m a traditionalist at heart. I love that you equated the ‘whole family’ to the size of the centerpiece ‘Build it and they will come’ 😁 For this year I wondered about incorporating some white hydrangeas as a focal. Thoughts? It amazes me how fast you work! Wow!! Cheers to your lighter colored shirt so we could see the piece come together. 👍🎅🌹
Thank you! 😀 I like that phrase ‘built it and they will come ‘ 👍🏼 Hydrangeas would be nice added in. You could use artificial to save any issue along with the fresh. Feeling Christmassy now 🙋🏼♂️🌲🎄
You are so talented. Could you do a demonstration on making a fresh lemon tree in cone shape with boxwood filling? I am having trouble trying to find 3 foot cone😂😂 thank you! Joan
Thank you! That’s an interesting design suggestion - I shall add to our list and see if we have materials ( need boxwood ). I think you will have to make your vase for this 😀🙋🏼♂️
I like this video so much, so beautiful! But if I am not buying a Christmas tree, where can I buy these pine foliages to make this centerpiece? I can't go to the park and cut other's pine tree branches to make this beautiful runner.
Thank you! That’s true - but you can buy these foliages in any good florist. But if you have a friend with a big garden they might have some, and then it’s free 🤗🌼
Totally gorgeous John! Can I make a little request? I’m thinking of doing a door swag this year instead of a wreath. The lovely conifers you have used in this arrangement would be ideal. Do you think you could do a video demonstration of a Christmas door swag please? Thank you xx
Thank you 😊 yes that is possible. The door swag is a bit like creating a tied sheaf but using winter foliages and decor - then just hung up to decorate the door. I shall try and do one as it’s a great option for a door 😊🙋🏼♂️
You can use moss or chicken wire or Agra wool - but really these are better in designs with a bit of depth in the container ( or ok for event work ) but for a design created to last in a low tray the floral foam is best at the moment. Hopefully the industry will come us with a non petrochemical product that is as good as foam soon. It needs to be commercial and not just hold flowers but allow them to last. We are keen to move forward from foam as well. 🌼🙂🙋🏼♂️
You don’t have to make it just now - but generally the foliage lasts very well, so this element could be preprepared. To keep winter foliage you can leave it outside in a cool damp place as well. 🙂🙋🏼♂️.
I absolutely love it! However, there is no pine in it. Every green you used was spruce, and berried juniper. Spruce is prickly, juniper is berried, and pine is soft. Still a wonderful arrangement! Forgive me.
Thank you - and no problem pointing that out. I think i prefer soft pine to work with 😀 this spruce reminded me of the trimmings from the bottoms of Christmas trees 🎄 it’s a usable foliage!
Very nice love the arrangement and the colour yes Carnations are on the comeback
Thank you 😊

I haven't seen roses in christmas arrangements. I have seen many with poinsettias in Germany.
You can use any flower really - but the colour theme is important and the other elements can reflect the Christmas element 😀
Could you suggest something to use instead of floral foam???
You can use moss or chicken wire or Agra wool - but really these are better in designs with a bit of depth in the container ( or ok for event work ) but for a design created to last in a low tray the floral foam is best at the moment.

Sir please also make a tutorial- how to place or hang these flower foam masterpieces😭
Thank you - yes that’s a good suggestion. This would just sit direct on a long table, but the suggestion is good for future videos 😀🙋🏼♂️
😳😂😂😂
Beautiful display Sir. Where can I find a Lazy Susan (for lack of a better word) like yours?
Doesnt matter how your lazy turntable looks like, it matter what u do on it 🤣😂😂
@@Linda98553 this is true!
I was given this turntable from a flower demonstrator friend - her husband made it. Maybe a good option to get the bigger width size ?
will stay green until christmas???????

Yes, the darker green is common spruce but I think the grey ones are silver spruce or blue spruce.
Lovely arrangement anyway.
