For context on the mural at the end, it is actually a mural that has been painted over. The mural originally depicted Kratos' death and Atreus cradling his body, the exact same one as the one we saw in the last game, however Faye painted over it depicting Kratos as a beloved God being worshipped by people and being a good god. The thing is that the 3rd part of the mural isn't something that has happened yet, just Faye's way of telling Kratos that he can continue to work towards his redemption and he will get it. One thing to note is that Kratos doesn't really know what he'd do after Faye's death and Atreus' eventual departure so the mural is basically telling Kratos what he could possibly do now that his son is off on his journey. As Kratos states, he saw a path that he didn't think was possible, but is now within reach, to rebuild and guide people as a god.

Yes! Exactly that! And remember, Odin, when he met with Kratos that one time in Svartelheim, said that Kratos never knew what it means to be a god that people worship and that leads. Now he gets to do that. He's not a god of destruction anymore. He's the god of Midgard that's there to lead and help them rebuild.

The reason the wound on Thor's gut didn't heal was because in the first game, Jormungandr had thrown it back to Kratos when you first meet him in the lake by tossing it from his mouth. In the mythology, Jormungandr would be slain by Thor but not before imbuing Thor with his serpent Venom and killing thor eight steps after the battle ends. Essentially, the Leviathan Axe was imbued with Jormungandr's venom in the first game which made it impossible for Thor to heal the wound swiftly.
EDIT: Also, the ending implies that Kratos has gone from being a 'monster' to a god people worshipped and adored instead of feared.

Huge props for defeating Odin first try. And no, Odin isn't Atreus' father in this. The reason Odin fell into his arms like we saw in the prophecy is because of the change in destiny. He essentially took Kratos' spot on the wall. At least that's what I gathered from it.
Edit: Also, the Fates said that everyone's choices were so "obvious" that they seemed as if they could see the future. HOWEVER, with Brok's death (and I'm assuming the Midgardian's in Asgard), Kratos and the others made other choices that weren't predictable. They didn't want anyone else dying. They wanted to be better. And so by making these different choices that weren't predictable, they subverted destiny. Again, it's only my interpretation, so take this how you will.

Love these series. To help you understand the ending here’s my 5 paragraph essay:
During the cutscenes to start the fight with Thor, Thor fought Jorgmungandr up til that point at which Thor bonked the snake so hard that he sent em bad in time. At the peak of the mountain when angrboda showed them the shrine. Faye destroyed that mural because it was originally in jotunheim, and she didn’t want Kratos and boy so see it yet. The front of the shrine where both Kratos and Atreus saw was Loki’s journey mural, showing his story etc. the back of the mural where only Kratos saw it was the prophecy showing Kratos’ ENTIRE story in the Norse Mythos. From him boating to Midgard from Mount Olympus, to the future of his life. The right of it showed Kratos that he has redeemed himself and he is now a god that is worshiped and praised as a god that does good. (Remember when Odin chastised him for not knowing anything of godhood. And yes he did cry there) Before Loki left, he spoke to Angrboda and she gave him her marble so that they can find each other from anywhere. For my personal opinion on Ragnorok (the final part of the game NOT the entire game lol) I felt kinda disappointed, I just wanted more of the “Event that basically ends the entire Norse pantheon” In the end, we fought 2 bosses, each with 3 phases and a sh** load of enemies that we’ve been fighting all game. Odin was also more of the weaker bosses in this game, there should’ve been a bigger fight from him either magically or physically somehow.
Kk that’s my essay, I expect a grade within the next week.

The importance of this redemption to Kratos is immense. For the majority of his existence, most of the emotions others have felt towards him has been hatred, fear, or a strange combination of both. Even when peoples have looked on him positively it was always tempered by his reputation and vengeful tendencies. Not saying he didn’t earn the reputation but that’s beside the point. The importance of his redemption is that, through his growth/actions, he’s become a god worthy of offerings being left at his feet. Worthy of admiration in the eyes of others, and more poignantly in the eyes of himself. He’s able to find real worth in himself and that’s what really got me about the ending. It’s all about what will you do now, who you will choose to become now. Loved this.

I interpret his story as saying: Sometimes we get tired, sometimes we want our journey, our work, our toil, to end. But when we see what things could be like if we WERE to let it all go, we realize the end isnt truly what we desired, just a small break to let ourselves rest before we continue the work, as well as someone to help us in our time of need.
I think its a message about burn out and how it effects us👍🏾

If you go to Niflheim you actually can hear her crying and they mention it

The reason why Thor's wound didn't heal from his first fight with Kratos is because in the first game, when you meet Jormungander and he spits the Leviathan axe back at Kratos and Atreus, he actually left with a deadly poison that affects Gods' powers. This also ties back to how Thor really died in Norse mythology. In Norse mythology, Thor kills Jormungander during Ragnarok, but dies shortly to Jormungander's poison.

Afro, I was with you at every moment shedding tears 😭😭. I swear I cried a few too many times when it came to all the emotions, plus the story & the fights. You were right when you said this game deserves a 11/10 💪🏾. I’m lowkey sad you finished it like me, but I’m also glad you finally did it too. And about that ending, I think you were on point with the redeemed comment. It looks like Kratos was being worshipped & loved, like a regular God. Odin tried to play him earlier in the game about not ever being worshipped, but it looks like that won’t be the case forever. I’m REALLY hoping the God of War story doesn’t end here, but I can’t imagine what else they could do possibly do with Kratos at this point. Keep posting them videos my brother 🙌🏾.

Which made him cry because he honestly gave up all hope on himself . Beautiful ending 10/10
