I’ve been replaying FO recently and I don’t remember this at all. I feel like it also wouldn’t make sense for Cere to say considering she would have just met Cal and he would have no reason to trust her yet. Cal said that to Greez simply because they were about to attempt something dangerous that previously only Dagan had successfully achieved
I don't remember that but I do remember cere saying "I understand you don't trust me & I'm not sure if I can trust you either"
Pretty sure she never says that, if anything it’s a callback to Merrin saying it just before kissing Cal the first time
Yes, Cal is not Luke, and now with this ending, we know their missions are very distinct. We can let Luke be the one to save the galaxy (and his father) and end the empire while Cal takes a more passive role, creating a haven in Tanalorr, something that outlasts the empire. With this direction change for his character, I can really see him actually surviving his third game, but anything can happen honestly.
I just don't want either him or Merrin to get like a really unsatisfying or just straight up bad ending. I'm fine with them dying; but I want their deaths to happen at the same time while for example doing something insane to help the rebels in a massive and maybe even tide turning way. Survivor's ending really holds an endless amount of possibilites for the next game, which is another reason it's brilliant. It doesn't force Respawn to go a certain direction, they can literally do whatever the fuck they want. I don't have a single idea about what to expect in the last game lol

Honestly Cal going all out with both sides of the force against Darth Vader giving his new padawan/child a chance of escape is the only way I see his story really running full circle.
And in the next game Vader has got to be HIM just an unstoppable monstrous beast the whole game with us running from him and then he finally catches up.
Or they plug starkiller in somehow or someway.

Somehow in the beginning when Bode started talking about his daughter, I had an inkling he would betray us at some point. But I was caught WAY off guard by the force push moment. And also that he was bad the ENTIRE time.

I'm very curious to see how Kata evolves. Chances are she is force sensitive, I wonder how that will affect her relationship with her adoptive parents. She's also surprisingly aware and mature, maybe something is up with that as well.

There was less hesitation in me pressing “embrace the dark side” than there was for Merrin to kiss Cal
I finished this a couple days ago. I loved every second of the game even tho I was raging from the jedi master difficulty
god this game was so difficult, playing it again with the newgame + perks… lord i thought it couldnt get harder

I love how he prepared to anakin Kata then when fighting bode he yells “DONT YOU DARE HURT KATA”
Darkness also increases other abilities. For example force hold you can crush droids with the force and force push does more damage etc.

11:10 CAL JUST PULLED THE BLICKY
When I first played this, I was already starstruck by Bode’s betrayal, Cal almost dying, and Vader’s Appearance, and then Cere’s death is what finished all of the drama off to make my eyes water like crazy.
Kata is a smart kid. A kid who had to grow up way too damn fast but hey, in this era of the Star Wars universe what else is new
BD coming for the rescue and getting slapped by Bode is actually the funniest thing

The moment the "Embrace Cal's Darkness" popped out, I knew he would tap into the dark side. Cal is no longer holding back and unleashed his Spartan Rage.

6:06 I mean, Luke did use Anakin saber for a minute to fight Vader, but your point still stands. Also, it’s a great way to respect Cere while staying true to your own style.
3:12 really cool detail that the books Merrin is holding are the same ones that Luke atempts to burn in episode 8.
Also it's was mentioned elsewhere when Cere does the "force ghost" thing at the end of the game, that Cal actually never physically was there with Cere when she died, that he held her through the same Force Telekenesis something or other displayed here. So while it looked like he got to her in the last second to hold her while she passed, he was physically still at the bottom of the mountain side... anyway just thought I'd mention it.

To answer 7:50 a lot of people didn’t see Bode’s betrayal coming and I don’t blame them. Cal get’s a new best friend, who’s wholeheartedly with him on everything and cool as shit? Yeah that’s possible, I guess.
But early on he starts asking questions about Cal’s team, how he met them, their backgrounds etc. and he give vague, all be it reasonable responses in return to Cal. The false sense of opening himself up to a Jedi because he’s just that.
Then he started being weird… disappearing at random points, conveniently being alone with Zee after Dagan fight #2, staying behind after Dagan fight #3, so on. I never fully trusted him, so it wasn’t a surprise to me that we he betrayed us.
What DOES taken everyone completely off guard is after we break his jet pack, thinking “we know your secret, you’re trapped, you should be easy to put down” just for his ass to have an even BIGGER secret and turn out to be a Jedi.
That’s the one that gets talked about more, because from a screen writing point of view Bode could have easily been or not been a snake. Deceiving us into ONLY thinking about options A or B without even eluding to C being a possibility. That’s good writing.
Another small flag is him saying he can't understand what BD's saying at the start, but after killing Gera he seems to drop that and asks BD 'for good news'

Afro since the beginning what gave Bode away for me was the simple fact tht he survived compared to the others and the way it all happened/played out. Best way i could really "explain" how it was obvious
The moment bode was the only survivor I thought he’d end up being a traitor. He was toooo cool, and ended up being rly close quickly and easily. Plus since Cal started having a team around him, I thought it’d be the classic, “let’s implant someone on our enemy’s team to gain info” theme. He didn’t betray for the reasons I thought tho
I knew he would betray me, he was too close too fast, and after every section with him he was always like "you go ahead I've gotta do something". That screamed him giving the Empire information to me.
What I didn't see coming was the second twist of him being a jedi. That one caught me. That's when I realised that he was the "Survivor" the game is named after.
I knew that you would just love the “embrace the darkness” scenes.
Cal is the definition of Grey Jedi now.

Bro, whoever was able to predict that Bode was going to be a traitor has to be a master detective
He was set up as a merc from the very beginning, so my sus meter was all the way up.
Resorting to mercs in any war, at any point of it, is no good. It is better to have fewer numbers of loyal troops than high numbers of sketchy mercs.
I mean, he immediately mentions his daughter. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he's gonna betray us.
That being said, the biggest surprise was definitely him being a jedi.
I predicted bode was bad when you are leaving Coruscant getting chased and he breaks off by himself in his ship “to lure some of them away” (verbatim). Whenever any game or show does that I’m suspicious of that character and assume they’re gonna be a traitor. They also put heavy emphasis on him being the new guy in the squad that you start the game with.
So you basically just predicted it cuz you’re a very, very paranoid fellow? Deng…
