I just picked up one of these today for $15 at goodwill. It is the first typewriter so far that I fully regret buying. I like to tinker and attempt repairs myself but I have limited knowledge. I should have inspected more carefully but the price was right. I replaced a drive belt and cleaned it up. I did not notice that the carriage is swinging freely and there is no string at all. Any tips? Or perhaps I could mail it to your guy if he’s reasonable. I’m considering giving up on this one but I’m not quite there yet.
Nice! They can be found. The main cost for us is the time and expertise put into servicing, as they usually 'almost' work, which is not good enough for actual writing.
