New subscriber with Dorment Sarcoidosis of the Kidneys. First diagnosed in June 2010. I was hospitalized for 2 weeks, and had every test, scan, X-Ray in the book. The final test was a Bone Marrow Biopsy, which was the conclusive diagnosis. My labs were all over the place with very high Calcium levels. I was 56 when first diagnosed. The final treatment was 3 doses of IV Solumedrol, and one year of Prednisone in decreasing doses. I haven’t had any flare ups since then. But now I’m having lung congestion issues. I had very high blood pressure and + 3 pitting edema of my feet and legs bilaterally. I was started on Valsartin 160mg daily, and My Lasix was increased from 20mg to 40 mg daily. After two weeks on Valsartin my BP didn’t come down enough so the dose was increased to 360mg. So now it’s perfect. This AM it was 119/69 with a Pulse of 61. But, since yesterday, I’m feeling a heaviness in my central chest and have a slight cough. I’m going for a chest X-Ray tomorrow. I still have to make an appt. for an Echocardiogram. I’m nervous for both. All my labs 2 weeks ago were very good for me. WNL!
Best of luck!
Please don’t give up!
Thanks!
What was your result after. Do u still have it
Hey buddy,
I was just looking up and spot your comment.

Thanks Medicosis. I have a question if you do not mind. In sarcoidosis or any other restrictive lung diseases ,such as IPF, is chest pain a common symptom?

Making a presentaion for a Journal Club on a new NEJM article on sarcoidosis. Thanks to you the team at the ward might think I actually know something about this disease.. which I do now :)
(Sarcoidosis is not something we get to see on the wards and it is a very briefley covered topic in lectures, at least in my med school as it is not very common here, so I never understood or remebered the details of this disease for longer than when the exam was over. Your videos always make it a hundred times easier to understand and remeber. You are a teacher by grace)

I’m getting diagnosis with pulmonary sarcoidosis I believe … it’s terrible !
I am so sorry to hear that!
How are you doing now. The doctor said about a month ago, I may have a early typical case of this. Back in December I got really sick. I had a consistent cough dry cough. I was coughing up a lot of mucus I lost about 10 pounds I want from 145 down to 126. I had night sweats and my chest felt really heavy and has shortness of breath all the hell is the medication they gave me didn’t work. The only thing that I worked with ibuprofen which I was taking every day when I said it was bad for me so I stop and pick me Prezi zone I meant to pronounce that word, but that’s the only thing that ended up out started in December in around March is when I started feeling better. The cough went away I no longer have a heavy chest and shortness of breath. I work out fine now if I do have a cough is very slight, but never consistent right here and there I do have a flareup, but it doesn’t last long and no longer have night sweats and I don’t seem to be losing on my way, but it is hard getting back to my normal weight, which is unusual. I usually hydrate right back up to the 140s I stay stuck at 130 34 for about three or four months I have not been diagnosed he just simply stated might be a typical early case of it. They said they need to do a biopsy to make sure But the fact they got a force me to go to sleep, and I have no control over and they said that wake me up when it’s done and they want to put a camera down my throat f** that Affirm the sentence that I read in peoples story I’ve been reading I’m pretty sure it’s this every other test I took came back in order no affection is my white blood cells is fine no ammonia or bronchitis or Tb No nothing which is making me kind of believe I just may have this Matt ask you what was the sentence how long have you been experienced this and do you feel any better or what was the test being done to diagnose you with pulmonary Scardino’s is
These videos are far better than osmosis.....thanks
Thank you so much 😊

Was just dx'd yesterday. My Dr said it was serious, (im 56 and it IS advanced) he said I shouldnt have any pain, but my chest and shoulders hurt. Bad. Thanks for your outstanding presentation. Will like and sub.
Thanks!
I am sorry to hear that!
Keep fighting the good fight!
Follow up with your doctor!
Good luck!
Colleen Jones chest pain is. Common symptom. I have had pulmonary sarcoidosis for five years. After a large dose of prednisone for 6 months it calmed down, but now it’s acting up. My two most disturbing symptoms are shortness of breath and chest pain. Don’t be upset by this. It is normal. If you look up info on reliable medical/sarcoidosis sites you will see this. Good luck. It is a pain in the butt disease, but the symptoms can be treated to make you more comfortable. Don’t be afraid to see a Doctor that is more knowledgeable about Sarc if needed.
Laurel Girard thank you for the tips and info, Ive been reading and learning everyday. On day 45 of prednisone, got a way to go, but so far so good. Hope you are well.
Colleen Jones oddly enough, after 5 years I’m right back where I started. My symptoms have flared up & I’m getting checked for cardiac Sarc. But I’m feeling better in a short term dose of prednisone. It’s kind of that type of disease. You feel like you’re going in circles on a merry go round. Fortunately, due to Ct scans, etc. they’re learning more and more about Sarc almost daily. If you want some good websites, I can recommend some. Let me know. Take care.

I have chronic asthma and chronic pulmonary sarcoidosis. I have had uveitis as the first indication the sarcoid was spreading. The effects of this disease has been devastating. It is like having an endless influenza infection, with chronic fatigue, nausea, overall weakness. Yet, I look perfectly fine. It is an invisible disease. My breathing continues to deteriorate. I have accepted I don't have much longer than 10 years to live.
John Hopkins in Maryland has a department that treats sarcoidosis. Some posters on the sarcoidosis message boards have taken hydroxycloroquine and it helped. Have you tried that medication? Dont give up hope. I pray you find the right pathway for your healing.

Fantastic sir 🔥😄
I was diagnosed a year ago with stage 4 sarcoidosis it took me down from 184lbs to 138 was my lowest, lungs damaged, recurrence of kidney stones, swollen lymph nodes, blurred vision, blood in urine I'm on 30mg of prednisone daily now and starting starting cellcept 500mg twice daily after 2 weeks 1000mg twice daily
How you been holding up now with treatment
Six months ago I was experiencing some I guess sometimes I went from 141 to 126 I had a dry cough night sweats in my chest feel heavy and I was spitting up. A lot of mucus is start in December and only after March bigger and better I no longer have a persistent cough all night. Sweats in my weight has not been up to snow white yet but it’s getting there. They are my experience A dry cough, but not consistent. No one hear those words no medication worked only thing work at that time was ibuprofen, but they said it wasn’t gonna take it every day so I ended up get prednisone. that was the only medication at work I haven’t yet been diagnosed with scaro But the doctor said it may be a typical early case of that

Going thru the biopsy’s now, trying to prove it’s not cancer, but is Sarquoidosis.
It’s becoming a pain in the a**!
I wish you the best of luck!
Medicosis Perfectionalis: Thank you.
It is a pain in the butt! Good luck. They can often tell by X-ray & ct scan if it’s Sarc, but they have to do a biopsy cause you don’t want to find out later that it wasn’t Sarc. At least many of the symptoms are treatable. I’ve had Pulmonary Sarc for over 5 years. It is flaring up now. We pretty much knew it was chronic a while ago. Sometimes you just have to take it one day at a time.

This might be a very basic question but i'm having a hard time placing the crackles. You hear crackles when air mixes with fluid like mucus and it makes this fresh snow like sound. But is it the inflammation that recruits/exudes fluid into the bronchi/bronchioli/alveoli? Asking this for both sarcoidosis and intrinsic fibrosis. And if this is the case can you assume that all lung inflammation causes crackles during PE?
(I think crackles are the same as crepitations? Which I thought were due to airways ''popping'' open during inspiration?)
