Thanks I have sarcoidosis and never understood why my FEV/FEV1 was 98% when my FEV was 66% and my FEV1 was 64%. It makes sense now. My TLC is 64 , RV 47 and DLCO 70. Restrictive 👍
When I subscribed your channel it has only 50K subscribers. Now it has 650K subscribers. Hope one day it will cross 1Millions. What I learned here in 20 min i can't learned from my physiology or medicine books, even though i read these books 3-4 times You are a great mentor and physician.

Wow! 🤩 That’s awesome..Thank you so much for sharing that with me. I wish you the best of luck! Go get them! Can you please help me by sharing my videos with your colleagues?
This really helps me make sense of my PFT for Sarcoidosis. My fev1/fvc ratio is 98%, but my FVC is 66%, FEV1 64%,TLC 64%, RV 49%, and VC 74% all equals restrictive. The 98% fev1/fvc confused me for a long time.
You are GREAT.Thank you so much for such amazing videos. I never get bored during your lectures.Thank you again. My fellows and friends need these videos too.stay blessed.
The FEV1 ratio FCV is the main test to tell the difference bw the obstructive or constrictive pulmonary diseases. If ratio is less than 60 sure thing obstructive if ratio is normal or increased check all the volumes of those volumes are normal patient is not patient if all the volumes are decreased then offcourse restrictive pulmonary diseases ie the new tight sock.
im so confused, im searching online and it is saying fev1 is how much you can exhale in one second after inhaling maximally, and fev is how much you can exhale after inhaling maximally.
I still don't get why in restrictive lung disease (FEV1/FVC) ratio is increased or normal, when TLC is decreased? Since in CRPD, there is a problem with inhalation because of restriction, therefore, you cannot get the air out, so there is not much FVC? So how come the FEV1/FVC ratio is not decreased as well?
What is the reference for FEV1/FVC < 70% to diagnose obstructive lung disease? It'll be better if you mention the name of the grading system, or the source.
But in robins pathology why they mentioned forced vital capacity in normal or increased in obstructive lung disease😢😢😢😢😢😢 I have exam next week please someone give me an answer
Sir u said..... To distinguish between COPD and asthma we give bronchodilator and if FEV1/FVC is not significantly increased then it is COPD with cause of SMOKING .... It's is cigarettes not cigar But why not Cigar?
Because with cigars, you are not supposed to inhale. You’re only supposed to absorb the chemicals via the the oral mucous membrane. However, with cigarettes, you inhale. I don’t smoke either. I don’t like either. But, the risk of COPD is way higher for cigarettes than for cigars. Thank you!
Sir please answer me I find your video very helpful, I’m a 26 years old student living away from my home , I always get chest infections in winters and when I breath secondhand smoke I get chest discomfort , other then that I’m fit don’t have any breathing problem . I have a fvc 97% fev1 111% And fev1/ fvc ratio of 116% Is this fev1/fvc normal?? Please answer
