    The FEV1 ratio FCV is the main test to tell the difference bw the obstructive or constrictive pulmonary diseases. If ratio is less than 60 sure thing obstructive if ratio is normal or increased check all the volumes of those volumes are normal patient is not patient if all the volumes are decreased then offcourse restrictive pulmonary diseases ie the new tight sock.

    I still don't get why in restrictive lung disease (FEV1/FVC) ratio is increased or normal, when TLC is decreased? Since in CRPD, there is a problem with inhalation because of restriction, therefore, you cannot get the air out, so there is not much FVC? So how come the FEV1/FVC ratio is not decreased as well?

    Sir u said..... To distinguish between COPD and asthma we give bronchodilator and if FEV1/FVC is not significantly increased then it is COPD with cause of SMOKING .... It's is cigarettes not cigar
    But why not Cigar?

    • @MedicosisPerfectionalis
      @MedicosisPerfectionalis  4 года назад +1

      Because with cigars, you are not supposed to inhale. You’re only supposed to absorb the chemicals via the the oral mucous membrane. However, with cigarettes, you inhale.
      I don’t smoke either. I don’t like either. But, the risk of COPD is way higher for cigarettes than for cigars.
