    Pneumonia
    lungs become => "solid", thus the ff.:
    - [1] increased Tactile Vocal Fremitus (vibration of chest wall)
    - [2] egophony, bronchophony
    - [3] whispering pectoriloquy
    - [4] dullness - on percussion
    Terms:
    *egophony*
    *bronchophony*
    *pectoriloquy* - abnormal transmission of the patient’s voice sounds through the chest wall so that they can be clearly heard through a stethoscope. Whispered sounds (whispering pectoriloquy) can be heard over the lung of a patient with pneumonia.

    Does Bronchial breathing has incresed expiratory phase than inspiration? Or it happens only in pneumonia ? Anyways thanks for amazing lecture!

    • @MedicosisPerfectionalis
      @MedicosisPerfectionalis  4 года назад +1

      There is a difference between what happens in the patient’s lung (expiration is always longer than inspiration), and what you are able to pick up by your stethoscope (normally, you hear only the first 1/3 of expiration, but if there is consolidation “bronchial breathing”, you will hear the whole expiratory phase).
      Hope it helps!

    I was recently given my medical history from childhood from my mother and I noticed something that was maybe interesting? I was always getting sick and taking antibiotics ever since I can remember. Not sure if that point is related, but maybe. To continue, looking over my immunizations records I saw that in 1994 when I was 6yrs, I was hospitalized for pneumonia, and nearly did not survive. That was the only year on record for me having had an immunization for pneumonia. I am passed due for it since 1994 and did not know! Odd to me, but what is more odd maybe is that I have only had the illness in the year I was immunized. I have also had protein in my urine since a young age which I've seen says something about the kidneys, but have never been seen for it. Perhaps I have always gotten sick since a young age is due to my body not filtering correctly and my immune system not functioning properly... Just had me thinking, sorry for my long ramblings. I really enjoy watching your videos, even not as a student. Thanks for your work!

      I found out yesterday that I do not have lupus which is good news I suppose. I am just worried now that my problem could be leukemia. They have enrolled me in Oncology insurance, but no one is telling me what that means and I don't see the hematologist until the end of November.
      I'm looking for a cause other than cancer but I am not relating to other possible causes. The very specific explanation of those with leukemia feeling flu like pains is exactly how I feel often. Hoping I will have an answer soon even if it is not good news. The worry while waiting is nearly impossible to avoid. Trying to stay positive though. Very grateful for your work, you have helped understanding easier for someone not educated in medicine. I hope great things for you!
