Hey I’m Andrew The Once A Day Farmer, I farm alongside my father on my family dairy farm in New Zealand.
Our Dairy system is quite unique as we only milk our 320 jersey cows Once A Day (hence the name), and they stay outside on grass for 365 days of the year!!

It's all good , quite an extraordinary effort you replying to comments after making the video, working and family time as well
Thanks 😊
It was 100 degrees here today. I'm envious of your cool weather.
Good job things look nice
Andrew the Midwife 😂. Well done 👍 Another replacement?
Aww those calves look beautiful so many wagging tails x
Wow, your grass , the long stuff , I haven't had any like that since April. My part of northland itvjust stopped during May. Left us short going into winter and never recovered for calving.
I'm very envious right now 😂
Awesome delivery and what an udder well spotted and dealt with x
Hi from the King Country. First milk going into the vat this afternoon. Exciting days ahead.
Awesome!
Andrew yours and Dad's hard work paying off. It's starting to show.( bear fruit )
Sweet as Andrew. Nice job in the delivery ward.
The fence is looking excellent 👍🏼
Your calves are looking good so far. Nice to see new fence. Thanks for explaining to us what is happening.
Hello place looks great. New fence looks perfect. Fun to watch the new calves getting there milk. Nice job deliver your calf. Milk is going up I hope for a good season. See you then.
Having to pull a calf isn't the cow's fault if there is a malpresentation . Worth that extra time.
Those udders look terrific. You might have to go to 2X milking😊.all kidding aside , it is always great to milk fancy cows, with milk dripping makes you look like a great cow manager! Thanks for sharing your wonderful videos.
l remember my first job as 9 or 10 year was feeding the new calves finger in mouth then into the bucket and my first calf born was a little bull he went on to another herd and won many rosettes
You're getting to be a big enough channel that you should get on to Tow & Fert for a demo. Foliar feeding might reduce your fert bill and usage.
Everything is looking really good Andrew calves look in Great nick, cows udders are bursting full and cows look in Great condition and good grass
I did wonder if you might have a few problems with the cows being in such good condition but half a dozen pulled calves and a couple with slight milk fever is nothing looks like its really paid off being that much ahead of the curve already with the milk solids
I got to dispute your observation of frost and bone chilling cold. In NY we save that term for winter mornings below 0 degrees F and a 20+ miles per hour wind. Those are the days you are glad you have a barn full of cows tied in their stalls. But most of all you hope the water and everything else isn't froze up.
I totally agree with you there, we have no where near the weather extremes you guys get over there
l like it
cows milking well mate, shame the price has dropped
No such thing as a off duty farmer Andrew, great to see some lovely udders it makes getting up in the morning worth while 👌🏻👍🏻
great video mate, wish we had 90 cows left to calve, we're not even 1/3 of the way yet, milking a bit over 300 out of 1100
Thats a lot of cows to calve!
Should grow like stink 😂 I haven’t heard that saying for a long time.
Hi buddy, how much land do you have, that is beautiful over there. From Florida, USA.
Andrew , would 2hot strands of wire not be enough for the cows or is there some other reason for the 5/6 strands used
Always good to save a calf and really better for it to be a heifer. Funny how you dairy guys want heifers and us beef guys want bulls/steers. LOL
Coshquin rings a bell. Coshquin House, Ireland by any chance?
From what I can gather we were Ulster-scots and moved to NZ around the time of the famine. They had a farm just out of londonderry called Coshquin, which was on Coshquin road which is still there today, there used to be an old farm house but I think it got pulled down at some stage
@@TheOnceADayFarmer The land there is kind of similar to your place but the weather is a lot worse. One of my distant relatives had a pub in Coshquin in the early 1900's. It's right on the Irish border.
Enjoyable video :) Do you clean or spray the udders before you milk? Or do you just not show that?
wash with water if they are dirty but that's about it
Goodmorning iv been watching your videos for a while now we use to farm in teawamutu for years. I'd love you to make a video around your roll plus pay as in are you the farm manager or do you have a deal with your Dad about your roll are you on a salary or do u get a peace of the milk production cheers love your videos
Its not a bad place aye, Im just the manager, I dont actually have any equity in the farm yet
Damm don't you dread that, the 1 leg poking out never occurs at a convenient time 😢
