Awesome ! £200! nice find !!! loved the sat nav/ screen lovely touch!
Good project indeed! nice one :)
bargin already first few days of year !!! nice tidy profit indeed i thing bud!
Only £200 for a tidy little Beetle absolute bargain 👍🏻....can’t wait to see you work your magic on it 😁. Great idea with the stereo
Karoq Life 👌
£200 PART exchange !!!!!!!!! Plus fiesta fiesta must have been 5 grand?
Informative, professional, knowledgeable and above all else, you also seem very trustworthy and respectful.
Top man👍
Andrew T 👌👍
Personal Preference- I like the content of these quicker fixes over your bigger projects but great content all the same 👍
Wishing you a great 2020
John Edwards 👍
I agree.
Another vote for the smaller projects
Both are good. My view is mix it up and have a mixture of both then caters for everyone. Fiat 500s and fiesta is your bread and butter, so that pays your bills, but if every vid was a Fiat 500 it would be repetive. My view is continue as you are.👍
@@marksmithard7801 I agree the quick flips are bread and butter and there are those that prefer seeing complete restorations which is great content also. Just personal preference.
Great idea with the satnav! I always loved a Beetle! My mum had a 1973 one when I was growing up and when VW released this one, I always fancied getting one.
Looking forward to seeing the videos on this one!
That dude with the "criticism" regarding your english skills is on another planet. You really good mate. I like your accent and your projects. Instant sub and now binge watching as i like the cars you brought and rebuilt and fink this is an awesome channel!
Great idea to swap out that radio. Fantastic idea. My son was looking for a used car a while back. I went on a test drive. Amazed how much leg & hip room in those cars.
I'd just like to say,you never fail to impress with everything you do ,your a great down to earth fella ,I think you stand alone in what you do ,one word ,legend !👍
Looking forward to seeing your progress on this one. £200. A gift! Put the Sat Nav in your truck where you need to have it. No brainer Rob.👍
Excellent as ever
I have one of those sat nav units in an mgtf I have stored in my garage good bit of kit I paid around £100 for it about 4 years ago
Ideal for work truck 👍👍
Great project. And yes put the screen I the truck ! Good Video Rob.
Looks like a good project. I had a Bug in the 1970's and managed to rebuild the engine. It was the simplest car I ever had. Agree with you about the SatNav,
Happy New year, everyone.
The Beetle is Great buy .Definitely fit that device in your recovery truck. In the long term it will be worth it as you do alot mileage. Keep up the good work and wish you both a prosperous year.
Really looking 4ward to all the new projects. EXCELLENT channel TYVM
I’d be tempted to leave the touch screen in car. It’s the one thing my daughter says she most likes in her little 108.
mccarthymccarthy1 I agree, good selling point when you come to sell and you’ll probably find the satnav isn’t that good.
£200.. a proper bargain Rob.! You have to swap out the radio unit into your truck, well over spec in the Vee Dub and far more useful in the truck.
Should be a quick easy little tidy up and out the door motor, ready for the summer, that roof is very quick, have to say not too stylish the way it just hangs on the back, but is what it is, they seem to sell well.
Looking forward as always to the progress videos mate. Cheers, Alex.
If you put the stereo in your truck, add a TV tuner to it, dead easy to do and you can watch TV then when you're waiting for auction cars. I've got one in my Transit and it's great!
Great to see the day to day cars back on the channel again!
Great vids as per usual. Absolute bargain motor. Keep up the good work!
The headlights are a common recurring issue with these bugs. My sister had to have bulbs replaced often and never sorted out why.. Thanks for the content!
£200 for this has to the bargain of the century regardless of opinions on it's shape. Nice one Rob!
Great little run around. Ideal for next summer 👍
Yes, put that radio in the pick-up.
Thanks for sharing this with us.
The Hawaiian 👍
Look at the ends of the outer sills especially behind the wheel arches, they are notorious for rotting out there, if it's gone in the middle, its probably gone at the ends too, especially at the end of the sills in front of the rear wheels. You have a rust bubble at the front, so its probably dodgy there too. The early facelifted bugs (55/06/56/07) seem to be the worst of the lot for rotten outer sills. You might be better off replacing that whole NS outer sill, the sills themselves are only £87 a side from VW (and being trade you'd get them cheaper through TPS).
Also the outer sills even though they are metal and welded on, they aren't actually structural (although mr MOT tester doesn't see it that way), theres actually an inner sill that's the structural part.
The window regulators are really common. The rears on a Cab are a pain, as you have to strip out the rear seats to get the panels out.
All the windows should drop when you lower the roof. Also when you change the regulators make sure you do the window reset, lower all the windows on the master switch, hold it for 10 seconds, then raise them and do the same, that resets them to work.
Also be careful when you pull the rear lights out to paint the rear bumper, the tabs snap off them for a past time, and they don't sit back in properly if the lower tabs are broken.
Another thing is the cambelt and waterpump its 4yrs or 40k miles on them.
Also when you pull the headlight, push the connector on the car out a bit, after a while they work loose and the headlight stops working, on these facelifted bugs they are fitted differently to the 98-05 bugs, so the headlight just pushes into the connector, then you lock it into place.

Nice little bargain Rob, easy project and fit your radio in your truck would be good to see something like that all the best
Another great video!! Always itching to watch when I get the notifications. Keep the radio for your truck 😃
Rob I would most certainly take out the sat nav stereo to put into your truck it will make the world of difference and putting something cheaper into the beetle won’t make hardly any difference at all in the sale price best of luck and good to see another video 👍🇬🇧
What a fantastic little project car. I would definitely take the system out of the vw and maybe replace with an upgraded vw unit that contains Bluetooth depending on the cost. Having the screen in the truck would be great for you and would make a very interesting video.
That's a nice idea putting the radio and the reverse camera in your truck, that'll make a nice little video.
The beetle is a bargain at £200, a few little jobs to do on it and some good content for the channel as well. Thanks for the upload, cheers 👍 Jack.
And yes. Fit that wireless in your van. Cant believe the backlash. All the best geezer.
Really enjoy these small car rehabilitation's. We live on an island in Narragansett Bay and everything on this side of the pond is huge. Would love to have a Polo. We do have the Jazz / Fit and just lost the Mazda 2. Thanks
Great video. Like the car, cheep and someone will snap it up for the summer (if we get one). The radio is nice, bung it in the truck and keep the bug standard.
You bought the sat nav, and you got the car for free well done, great deal, I will be watching how it turns out 👍
Hi Rob,for £200 what a bargain,ok it needs work but that's not bad,and also you have a radio which will be ideal for your truck, there is a bit of money in itself.awesome video.all the best for 2020.
Sound engine, body looks straight. Nice easy jobs to fix and make it look good. The sill is the hardest job, but no problem for you. Sweet little flip. PS - you’re right about easy seller girl’s cars 👍 Blokes ask too many questions and often underestimate the skills and nouse to do repairs properly 😁
Not a bad bargain for the price, look forward to seeing its progress ready for sale.
Honestly mate I love doing these little rebuilds. Mot failure or snapped cambelt etc but when you get a bargain like this it makes all the shit jobs worth while. I just got a 61 plate Astra van non runner for £600, replace the earth strap from chassis to gearbox and winner... 112k not a dent...! You make me wanna do these videos!
I’ve done 5+ Range Rover sport body of engine jobs using jag engines, bit of wiring and sump work but cheap as chips!
Don’t stop what your doing boss! Love the content!
All the best
Craig
Craig Nicholls 👍
Nice project car to start off 2020. I think the radio in the truck would be a brilliant idea! Look forward to watching this project series. Keep up the good work lads! 😎
Dean-Ryan Miller 👌👍
For the price I think it's an absolute gem. A little tidy, some tires, and a tiny bit of rust repair and she'll be an excellent economical daily driver. My mother has one of these new beetles. I think hers is a 2.0 liter. But the fuel economy is pretty good. I just don't like the way the interior smells. I've always thought it smelled like crayons.
Also: Happy New Year!
Great video! Just as well I have a Star Trek Universal Translator lol!
The stereo is probably worth more than the car, taking it out and fitting in your truck is sensible and more useful to you Rob. It’ll make a tidy profit for you & Chris for sure
Great buy Rob, and put the radio in the truck as the radio will not enhance the price of the car when it’s done ✅
The stereo system is most probably worth as much as you paid for the car take it out.
The car was real bargain,
Have been Watching your vlogs for a while now and they are great watching. Keep it up.👍👍
Definitely in the truck Ive fitted a few they are great! Be careful though they can drain the battery randomly!
Dan Orchard 👌👍
Pleased to see it’s going back on the road. Far too good to break which is what I imagine most people would do. 👍
Yh I'd swap the radio, Is possibly worth as much as the car . I'd fit in the truck , and just put genuine VW radio in back to standard. Great content as always Happy New Year Rob can't wait to see the content this year .
Nice little bargain. Worth spending a few bob on it. Awaiting further vids . Cheers
Hello Rob! I’ve not posted lately. But this is a great little project. I’m not a mechanic as I’ve mentioned before, but the 1.6 is quite a rare engine for a Beetle so I’m told. They’re mostly 2.0 I believe. This is going to be a good turnaround I reckon. And keep the stereo/ satnav system for your truck and get a replacement for the beetle. Sorry for the long reply, but I enjoy your vids so much bud!
VW beetle convertible are a good seller. After getting it sorted out I suggest you hold on to it untill end of spring,
Coming up to summer you will double your asking price.
Use the radio in your truck, it's to your advantage, but try to get an original beetle radio from a beakers.
Good idea about keeping the radio for your truck. It looks weird in a bug. Good looking radio too...
Great little motor, a bargain. Yeah good idea about the multi media / sat nav system an all. Happy New Year mate and look forward to more videos this year 👍
Good little car, and yes the radio would be a good choice for the truck,
Was a steal at £200 👍
I’d look up the stereo and see how much it cost, if it’s cheap then leave it in the Beetle as a selling point, if it’s a bit pricier then I’d put it in your truck! Looking forward to this series mate 👍
Should be a fun little build, looking forward to seeing it come along. I would definitely put the stereo into your truck. Looking forward to more videos.
Nice project! The window regulators are very common on these and mk4 golfs ( this is based on a mk4 golf platform)
Yes get the head unit in the truck Rob 😁
Great new start to the year with the beetle rob! If you can make use of the stereo in the truck why not!👍🏻 look forward to seeing how you get on with this so I’ll see you in the next one...
Hi Rob I am new to your channel and trying to get through as many videos as I can, really enjoying the builds and my favourite is the Landy. Loving your honesty in your descriptions about your motors I am now also following you on Instagram. I am now watching the VW. Build and enjoying seeing the repairs being done. Tom Hartlepool
Fit it in the recovery truck mate and fit the reversing camera I reckon you should get 850 900 for that car with a years ticket mate
Adam Hodge I’ll get more than that I recon
When the roof comes down mate the price goes up lol 1200-1300
They are beautiful cars to drive Rob. They have the same chassis and running gear as the MK4 Golf and, I heard, the Audi TT.
The Convertible, like the one you have there has a stiffened chassis to stop the 'Scuttle Shake' that many soft tops suffer with.
Like I said, they are such a nice car to drive. Even Jeremy Clarkson said so when he test drove one when they first came out!
Great start to the year with that Beetle Rob, I reckon you could get between £1000 - £1500 for that little gem once you're finished with it (it seems convertible Beetles are quite sought after).
With regards to the radio, I would keep it and put it in the truck and just stick a bog standard one in the Beetle.
Another great video i would leave the radio in it m8 get the reverse cam set up big selling point on any car with sat nav an bluetooth sold 3 of my cars with aftermarket radios
£200 bargain, definitely put the stereo in the van Rob, Bluetooth phone connection alone makes it worthwhile and it’s out of place in a beetle!
Stumbled on your channel yesterday. Interesting and enjoyed watching. Subbed.
It's a smashing little car, the sat nav seems a little overkill for it and would be put to better use in your truck. Just have fun with it as you do it up :)
Nice little and desirable car to do ready for the Spring time..
Dont worry about asking us about the radio mate, if it’s gonna make your life easier in the truck then it’s a no brainier putbit in the truck.... loving the videos mate my favourite RUclipsr by far...
I used to have a 2005 Beetle supplied for work. I think from memory it was a 2 litre. A great little car with good fuel economy. I dont know what they sell for in Blighty but 200 quid sounds alright as a purchase price.
At last, a commentary I can understand 😁
Keep up the interesting vids.
Wishing you a happy and prosperous new year.
Stuart Hall 👌👍
A nice little car and some easy fixes. I’d put the head unit in your truck with the Bluetooth, camera and satnav, makes life easier for you.
Just watched Shmee’s Ferrari cost video then swapped to this, enjoy these much more, would love to do this type of project with my eldest son one day but never been a mechanic by any means!
Definitely will clean up well for £200 it's unbelievable, proper little bargain may not make you rich but will buy a few bags of groceries 👍
What a bargain, the radio is like £200 so looking forward to the end result. Brilliant content and yeah I’d take the radio out, anyone buying that would use their phone for all those features 👍🏾👌🏾
Nice little motor and yes I would install the radio in the truck.
Happy New Year guys, great video and another interesting project! Best wishes to you, looking forward to the next one.
YES!! ... Filch the radio - and while you're at it, you might as well put that little flower-holder in your truck as well ;-)
Pete Moring lol
First things first, HAPPY NEW YEAR, And looking forward to your new projects, Ignore the haters because they wish they were in your position, Lastly I reckon you should keep the radio on the beetle if you want to flip it with a little bit extra on the asking price. However if its just a quick turn around then whack it on your truck . Cheers Bud✌️👍.
The car is worth putting right. Yeh swap over the radio Rob, no one buying the big will bat an eye that it’s a standard radio in place. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Happy New Year.
Nice pink flower, good find for your truck upgrade!
Happy New year Rob great little car get that sat nav in the truck asap best of luck for 2020👍
Great car by the looks of it and will make some great content! I'd definitely put the headunit in the truck a great wee addition to make life easier when you're using it mate
Back windows a real common fault and a very straight forward repair done both on my neighbours bug
Nice to see somebody saving a Beetle rather than scrapping it.
Just bought a 2003 turbo beetle. I agree with you
Good luck.My parents owned a VW Beetle 1300 from 1972 to 1982 when they then purchased a brand new VW Golf C or Rabbit as it is known in the USA.I like all VWs old and new.
@@pauljackson8354 me too. That's all I want to drive.
That stereo - sat nav would be great in the truck especially with the reverse camera fitted.
Excellent again. The radio should go in your truck and it should be a quick turnaround. Happy New Year
sheepdogman1 👌
Look forward to seeing this little car turned round, from memory the offside headlamp removal is a knuckle skinner.. think your right about the sat nav idea.
Nah, it's easier on the facelifted bugs, it's the 98-05 bugs that are a pain.
Fair play.. I'll get me coat.
Hi Rob take it out .Looks like a nice runer.
Just another typical black car show's all the scratches but great idea about the stereo defo put it in your truck 👍👍👍aw and I got the logo mate 👍👍👍
Yeah grab the stereo stick it in the truck. I've got a reverse camera/dashcam retrofitted into digital rearview mirror. Sure you can fit that camera into that screen too👍
Great start to the year, and a nice little project. I’d say take the satnav for your truck as I shouldn’t think anyone will miss it. Got a good bargain there, looking forward to more
I Like that Car. I have never thought of the New Beetle as a cheap used convirtable.
What a Bargain. Lots of car for the Money.
Lovely little car looks a great little project. Bargain too reckon the radio alone is worth what you paid. Well worth putting in your truck as would good to have Bluetooth and sat nav in a vehicle you use so much 😃
Great project for £200
Nice product nice radio screen for ur truck rob 🇮🇪🇮🇪👍
Nice little runabout for someone, definitely put the stereo in your truck Rob, I had one and it was ace. There should be a button you press and the screen will automatically come out and flip up made me wince when you pulled it out thought you was going to pull the screen off 😬 anyhow looking forward to you getting involved keep up the good work 👍
Dan's Salvage Rebuild's this is pull out 👍
Bargain, my wife loves the Beetle, bonus with the sat nav Rob, that's £200 straight off the bat, i'm sure you will have this looking mint when you finish, a cracking buy,
william mcmonagle 👍
Whip that radio out and get it in the truck Rob. The price is right for a quick turn around. I can see you now down at the breakers getting a new adjuster for that driver seat I know it will bug you if you dont sort it Lol . regards Rich
good idea with the radio i think will be a small profit id do a vid on doin the front bulbs i knw alot of people dont knw about taking the light out ect....
Thats a nice little motor to start the new year with , i would put the screen in the truck as it looks a bit out of place in that small interior.......cheers mate
Thank you for great content! Will you consider making a video about what to you should be careful about when buying a used car? I recon it would be very helpful to have some tips from you! Thanks once again!
kokooxick 👍
I have the same radio in my 2000 New Beetle and I love it
