    Nice video, thanks mate.
    For the benefit of any prospective compressor buyers it's worth noting that these compressor companies all give the notional CFM of the displacement of the pump which is actually useless information. This makes their compressor sound great but doesn't actually represent the machine's abilities accurately at all. The really important number is the 'Free Air Delivery' in CFM or LPM. For these types of consumer grade compressor with a 3hp motor you are getting between 8 and 10 CFM free air delivery. It is a scam by the compressor companies. They all do it. I got caught out by this myself and ended up with a compressor insufficient for my needs. On higher grade compressors you will see they give the free air delivery CFM because they wont usually be able to trick big companies with this stunt.

    its now £409 im guessing they increased the price because of the interest generated by this video , wankers lol still the exact same one from burish is now on ebay for £255 although im pretty sure its a scam, i have called GTair 3 times today no answer and the number for GT air is actually burisch ...weird

    I wonder why the 150L model is £150 so much more expensive than the 90L model; they have exactly the same pump/motor/regulator/fittings etc. That's an awful lot of money for just 60L of extra tank.

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  7 лет назад

      honestly clive im not sure on that note , id probably say its just due to market prices for 150lt compressors tbh but even so for the quality and price this out performs any other ive ever had , weve been using it almost a year with no issues at all and no maintenance bar draining the water daily

    Hi Tony. I have a twin cylinder Paslode but the star for me is the triple cylinder McMillan c16 240 volt. I'm pretty sure some parts of the US have only 120 volt. This one I have is here in Australia and can run a blast cabinet. I plan to use my paslode for my new mask mask and the other for the workshop. The free air delivery is definitely the thing to look for and some people just look at the pressure rating which is OK for doing truck tyres etc but it's the free air rate, even with a small tank, that can determine whether high consuming tools etc will work properly. The cheaper ones don't tend to include the free air rating here. I think we have all got by with cheaper or just adequate setups but it's nice when you can get it all setup with decent gear.

    Hi Tony. Great info buddy. I run 150 liter at home and you can never have enough filters on your airline. I have 4 inline water traps on my line and I have one at each outlet point in my booth. You only want good clean air when spraying. one last thing I want to put out there. Whether you purchase you compressor at the hardware store, SD or the corner shop all these compressors will kill you if used incorrectly. Thank' s to you Tony and other for sharing info regarding products.

    So I noticed a bit of a hostile comment to this video regarding people selling out to a certain degree which I agree definitely is happening on some channels but none of your videos have ever seemed that way to me! More importantly for someone like me learning this skill for my own hobbies these reviews are absolutely as critical to me as the tutorials! I know no one in this industry so my only help in learning and gaining any knowledge of what to use and how to use it comes from the likes of your channel! Unfortunately the supposedly top quality British made compressor I bought a month ago has proved junk with the tank regulator leaking at the manifold and then snapping completely off as I tightened it all of a few millimetres!! So disappointed as I'll no doubt be in a battle with them regarding returns etc but glad of this review to point me in a better direction where to buy now! Massive thanks for this review and all the tutorials mate, they are absolutely critical to me! Oh and where I used to suffer rough orange peel, runs, contamination etc I've actually slowly learnt to spray my bike fairings bang on because of your help 👍

    Hiya Tony...spoke to you before but forgot to subscribe...done that no.
    One thing with compressors ( watched your vid last night) the sellers of compressors are a bit sneaky when it comes to CFM.....often, like GT AIR they will say "14cfm" but that only means displacement not actual free air delivery FAD. And you need to know what that is before you buy a compressor. I think the cfm FAD is about two thirds of the displacement figure so a14cfm displacement compressor will give you about 9 fad.
    Worth noting though mate because if you buy a compressor with, say , 9cfm (d) and want to run a gun that used 8cfm fad ..it won't keep up.

  • @habibkmc

    I bought my compressor from sgs which is exactly sameone only difference is sgs give u 2year warranty but they charge u extra money for another year. I think I should buy from gtiar. They the only one who well thought about compressor and airlines. I bought airline kit from them it best in the market. U can put that direct to main tank. That's the way I setup.

    I know this is an older vid but I’m after your help, Ive got one of these 3hp but a 90ltr but only ever used mini guns with it, tried using a pro lite with te20 air cap to do the side of my van and no matter what I tried I couldn’t get the clear to flow out nicely! The best I could get still was way to much peel, I tried warming the clear, 10% thinners, 1 1/2 all the way through to 3 turns out on fluid, 1 1/2 bar to 2 1/2 bar, nothing worked? I’ve used this mipa cx4 for a year with the mini guns and it’s awesome, never had this problem, is it possible the compressor isn’t supplying the right free air delivery for this te20? I noticed I had to close the air adjuster to be able to control the psi on the regulator too? Sorry it’s a long one but I’m baffled and deflated lol, I got a lot of flat and polishing to do now, any ideas would be massively appreciated

      it has nothing to do with bar thats how much pressure the vessel can hold its all about the cfm cubic feet per minute the compressor puts out, usually minimum on this you would need 14 cfm of free air delivery to run comfortably most guns you can use less but 14 is minimum in my opinion

    Thanks, nice review, I've just ordered the 90LT version (home shed type workshop) to replace my noisy cheap 25lt one.
    On your vid, you have a short red hose going to your water trap/reg on the wall.
    I have two 10mt hoses. I understand when I'm spraying (only got a lathe to spray) I should run 10mt to water trap reg and a further 10 mt to my spray gun to give time for water to form..
    But am I right in thinking, when I'm ruining things like my grinder, I'm better off having the shortest hoses possible, hence one like your red hose to the reg on the wall, and in my case about a 4 meter hose to my workbench? Or am I worrying too much about loosing pressure on a 14cfm compressor?
    And if I am better using the short hose, do you know where I can buy them at a sensible price? 10 mt hoses are cheap, but as soon as I try to find custom lengths, the cost of say 2mtrs, is more than the cost of 10 mts.
    Also, where did you buy your brass airline fittings from please?
    Thanks

    • @TonysRefinishingTV

      by no means are we trying to advertise were purely showing the products tools and materials that firms send us out to try and give an honest review on for viewers so they can gain information on them , by no means are we bought by any firms and sorry to hear you think that

    • @6488ott
      @6488ott 8 лет назад

      I'm not suggesting you guys are being bought but its a fine line and its all about peoples perceptions..
      There is a cockney channel that I wont mention, that rams it down peoples throats - not something you would want to do if you care about your integrity. As a case in point, Refinish Network has never to my knowledge affilliated itself with any company and gets my admiration. Gunman became a target for SD and despite his protestations regularly send him 'freebies' to try...

      i understand what you mean mate and get it , were trying to get a broad range of products that are good or bad and also show them in everyday jobs and the links we put for suppliers ect are purely to point people in the direction of where to buy , like this compressor for example is a great buy compared to others of the same spec say like sealey or clarke ect, so will massively help diy guys and alot of small shops find one easily at a good price , and we try and show as many materials products guns paints from different places and manufacturers for the reason we dont want to tie ourselves to one firm, place or manufacturer, i myself out of these have huge favourites but i find it my duty with the channel to keep adding more for example clearcoats from different places of different quality to keep the variation, and it is hard as you say whilst doing it to keep that fine line from looking like were being pushed to do something or its what we think a a person, but i can assure you we will stay a channel that is independent and unbiased to any firm product or manufacturer

    Really great video love watching them but I'm so confused as I'm looking at setting up at home running iwata guns but will this compressor run ok with them as most of the shops say I need 200ltr or more and more than 5.5 to 7.5 hp motor

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  5 лет назад +4

      Honestly mate I’ve run this compressor with my ws400 and new sata 5500x without any issues and starting from home I can’t see you painting the volume or size we do in our booth either tbh , to start off this is more than enough , throw some water traps and regulators on and your good to go mate , I’m looking at upgrading my unit now but I’ve had it two years and now I need one that will run a full booth sandblasted and air tools at once , but if your one guy using one thing at a time ie spray gun or sander this is more than enough mate honestly

      il have to take a look mate to see what they are like and how much they are and if they would be worth doing a review on as we mostly dont look at guns under the sort of £100 mark as i feel most under that would be a waste of money

      Tonys_Refinishing. I know what you mean but there have been a few occasions the cheap guns have preformed well. Just wondered if their guns are as good as their compressors. Have to say your reviews are really down to earth and presented in a way everyone can understand. I have been running my own Paint Correction business here in Mauritius for over a year and would like to get into smart repairs so just wanted to pick your brains on descent guns for this type of work. Reflection auto paint correction Sal thanks man and that’s the way we try and do things we want anyone not just experienced painters to be able to head into our videos and get an understanding of what we do and why , we all started somewhere and back in the day I had no youtube to learn so having these videos in an understandable way is key for me when we make them and I’m a very down to earth guy lol I’m just a painter who shares his love for his job , il see if I can take a look at one of those guns mate for you I’m do my best

    Is 14cfm enough to run your gun and an air fed mask?

    • @TonysRefinishingTV
      @TonysRefinishingTV  7 лет назад

      +Adrian Hamilton no you would need something a lot bigger to run an airfed as the gun would use around 10cfm of that
