    You didn't tell people most important thing about this radio - you save settings by holding "cancel". Many people change settings then fail to save them and are lost in trouble shooting hell. Also this radio with 14 channel + timer mod is awesome. I even put taranis pr10 gimbals on it just for fun of it.

    • @clint351mx
      @clint351mx 3 года назад

      Jesus thank you for this...why does nobody actually go through the full process and show you how to save what you just did instead of resetting it each time you hit cancel to try and get back to the menu..

    Hello Joshua,I am very pleased that you are giving this radio some love. In my opinion it is the most capable radio in the sub 50 EUR price range. (Even sub 40!) There is a 10 channel software mod that also give the possibility to set a timer, voltage alarms etc. For this software I refer to the rcgroups FS-i6 tread. I wouldn't mind you reviewing this radio a bit more in detail as I didn't known this setting for example. Many folks are using this a first radio Especially when the Q X7 wasn't around yet.

    Thank you. I already moved endpoints as you're described there two weeks ago for FS-i6X transmitter which mine coworker bought for his Wizard X220. Such transmitter after month of flying had all channels shifted by +2/-4 with middle point in BetaFlight around 1506 by default. Which caused drift and impossibility to arm without pulling stick down by force. Cheap Chinese stick resistors in glance. After endpoint tuning it now have correct ends and center.

    Great tip for the beginners most ppl that start in auto level modes never know why they are getting drift or uneven control in turns. Even intermediates have issues with why they cant flip or roll to one side the same. its also good to calibrate sticks evey now and then on flysky remote for sure when you get it

    Good info. My fs i6 didnt need too much trim adjustment, but my spektrum dx6e needs to be adjusted to nearly 150% to make the end points where they need to be. I also experienced the importance of doing this when I was doing a micro brushed build. The transmitters min throttle was around 18% throttle, so it wouldn't arm since you couldnt go to an actual 0% throttle.

    Now the secret is out ,the price will go up! Its good that you have finally discovered it ,as its a really good tx for the money.
    I have the Eachine version and updated it to the 10 channel mod and then ,RSSI version , I then updated the firmware on the
    FS-IAB6 with a ST link tool to 1.6 ,this then gave me RSSI on my TX screen and more importantly in my OSD!
    The number of channels and lack of RSSI were for me the only things missing from this radio.
    I also de-pinned the FS-IAB6 (why? ,has the greatest range)and it was more compact and now 6 grams lighter.
    Photos below. I was going to make a video of the whole process ,but I then bought a newer FS-IAB6 (RX) and before I installed it I copied the firmware and they now seem to be on 1.6 ,also this radio is rebranded as a Turniby ,Eachine and Flysky(all the same ,different firmware and easy to change).
    The FS-IAB6 is a 6channel receiver ,but the you can use ibus (better) and you get more channels.
    The gimbals are probably not as good as a more expensive TX but they work and the replacements are cheap ,I have thrashed
    mine constantly on my quads and simulator and still going strong ,but yes it does jitter ,just add 5 for dead band.
    If mine breaks ,I would buy the new 10 ch version £37! what value.....
    It proves you don't have to spend a fortune to get into this hobby.

    This radio is awesome for the price. I use the irange irx6 module for flying different brand quads and because this setup is so cheap you can leave a radio in your car, have one in the garage for indoor, one in the house for indoor and one for guests. Saw one on ebay for $32 new, free shipping.

      I run IBUS primarily because it avoids the inversion issues encountered with a lot of F4 boards.
      The pairing of the i6 (i6x) and the A8S and A6X receivers are the best way to get into the air cheaply, although I'd still recommend the Turnigy Evolution for anybody looking to get started who knows they'll want to fly thumbs.

  • @KythForsa
    @KythForsa 7 лет назад +1

    Great stuff as always! Would like to see a video about what to do when you adjust the endpoints as far as they can go and you're still not sitting on 1000-2000. I have a DX6 with some DSM2 receiver (on a whoop) where I can't get the high end to 2000, only to like 1840 or so. Maybe there's some trick on my radio to allow adjustment beyond 150% but in any case I learned about "rxrange" in betaflight which can resolve this problem (and also allows to reverse the channel thus averting having to do it on the radio).

  • @ProppedNutFPV
    @ProppedNutFPV 7 лет назад

    Thank you for using Flysky as an example. It really isn't a bad radio.
    The only thing I'd like to bring up is the fs-A8S. Extremely bad receiver.
    Check out RCgroups "FS-A8S Help" thread. Now the fs-x6b is a really nice reliable receiver. Only issue I'm having is setting up failsafe. I've installed BF 3.2 on my quad.

    • @tehllama42
      @tehllama42 7 лет назад

      The A8S (per the manual) is incapable of failsafe... although I was able to get it to act somewhat like a F2 Failsafe in BF3.1.7... that said, because diversity for such a small weight penalty is better, I recommend the X6B as well...
      I have had a great time with my trio of A8S receivers, but there are moments where I can tell I'm losing RC signal and crashing as a direct result.

    I got the already 10 channel grey stickers tx, had to go into menus as it's on 6 channels default, great for the price and easy to use, have used the fsi6b receiver with excellent range and now got a new design for copter flysky x6b with the dual antennas which are changeable, heard it got great range too, up to 2.3km on RUclips, only need couple hundred metres 😄

    I noticed that after using subtrim i had to readjust the endpoints again.
    Also you might want to mention that there is great community firmware for the FS-I6 that can make it even better.
    I now have a timer for example.

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  7 лет назад +1

      Oh damn that's a shame. On most modern radios, adjusting Subtrim should not affect Endpoints, but older radios (and apparently this one) do that.

    • @OriginalGingaNinja
      @OriginalGingaNinja 7 лет назад

      Dave Interestingly it doesn't do that on the i6s, different firmware though.

    • @tehllama42

    • @Ultrazaubererger
      @Ultrazaubererger 7 лет назад

      I just tried it again because i wasn't sure anymore but yes, the subtrim directly affects the endpoints on my Ideafly branded FS-I6 with flyplus beta and an afhds (not afhds2) receiver (built in to the board).

    I have that one and did the 10 channel mod and that made it so much better, only thing it doesn't do is talk to you , and the fs-a8s receiver I had trouble with it loosing signal at only around 20 - 25 yards and I tried new antennas , longer antennas , even switched for another one , and still had the same problem , I ended up losing my quad over it ....

      FS-8AS receiver is notorious. First revision was full of bugs which caused the signal loosing and destroyed/lost quads in result. Get FS-iA6B or X6B receivers - those both have functional diversity receiving, IBUS, telemetry and just works.

      You should always adjust the transmitter so that betaflight sees 1000 to 2000 if possible.

  • @zeebeefpv2273
    @zeebeefpv2273 7 лет назад

    Joshua, I recently have been seeing my (FrSky Taranis X9DPlus) stick centers at 1517, rather than 1500 in BetaFlight ... What might be causing this? I haven't done any trimming with buttons, I haven't done any FC stick commands to set trim, nor have I touched the subtrim menus on my radio... Just curious if this will cause problems or go away or do I need to take action!?!

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  7 лет назад

      If the sticks repeatedly fail to re-center correctly it could mean your gimbals are wearing out. This is more likely if you have the old style PT1 gimbals vs. the new M9 gimbals.

  • @richardt1

    I have temporarily reduced the power settings in the throttle curve menu selection to 0,10,31,45,60. Should the endpoints still be adjusted for 1000-2000 or will this not be valid with the change to the throttle curve?

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  6 лет назад

      if you have reduced the throttle curve in the transmitter then you don't need it to hit 1000 int he receiver tab.

    What would I have to do if my radio to FC only gets about about 1000 to 1904 at full trim. Do I set max throttle to 1904 ish then just a normal ESC calibration

      Use rxrange to change the expected endpoints in cleanflight/betaflight.

    Need a bit of help here, I have a wizard x220, I did a factory reset on my frisky fs i6 now I’m finding real difficulty re binding, my aux channels on beta flight all reading 883 too so I can’t set up modes or arming,
    Any ideas as when I do bind it just beeps continuously, so I unplug the Ubec and plug in the battery it’s binded but with the above problem. I’m loosing my hair now lol, any wise comments.

    Im still using this radio since starting a year ago.Using Ibus, i have never ever had to set endpoints.
    Only once i tried sbus and had to set every end point and trim. And it felt shit

    Yaw is effecting the throttle too much. What can i do? This might just be my level of control on the gimbals.

    Hello sir, I have a question... I just received new motors and I'm adding them to an existing build. Finished soldering new motors on and upon arming, motors spin up CRAZY. Do I have to go into betaflight and do anything?? I figured since the board was already set up, I wouldn't have to connect to computer?? I wired the motor the same way last motors were wired. I did switch from 1104 6500kv to 1105 7500kv if that matters. Thank you for your time

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  7 лет назад +1

      If all you did was change the motors, then I don't know why they are spinning. So you must have done something other than just change the motors.

      Joshua Bardwell I think I went thru adjusting end points like in this video.... I'll just go home and plug it in. I need to make sure motor direction is correct also. I hope is easily fixed. Maybe I'll just make a new model and rebind it.

    I can't find anywhere - but what is the max adjustment of the EPA +150% +200%? And what PWM output value does it translate to 2500us?

  • @Just-A-Guy-Learning
    @Just-A-Guy-Learning 7 лет назад

    Just use cli and you dont need to touch the trims or endpoints on the transmitter. rxrange 0 (low point) (high point)
    If your low number is 1005 and your high end points is say 2115. Then it would be
    rxrange 0 1005 2115
    rxrange 1 1005 2115
    rxrange 2 1005 2115
    rxrange 3 1005 2115
    Enter after each line and save. All endpoints are now 1000 middle 1500 and high point is 2000. If your numbers are different for each channel use those numbers accordingly.

      S McClure No.

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  7 лет назад

      This reduces the resolution of your control channels though. Much better to use the transmitter. Also, if you set the transmitter correctly, then you never have to adjust subsequent models (as long as you are using serial receivers).

    • @Just-A-Guy-Learning
      @Just-A-Guy-Learning 7 лет назад

      Joshua Bardwell this is flysky. Trims move endpoints and not just center. Moving channel mapping in cli does nothing to the resolution brother. Its an equal amount of steps from end to end with the same amount of travel. You can use those little tick marks and check this if you want.

    Hi Joshua this is sort of off topic but I just finished and tested my new alien running emax 2306 full kiss spektrim and a TBS unify pro and I have problems when I fly more than 10 meters away I turn the quad around and get huge interference. I think it's that the tbs triumph has to go through the battery (turnigy graphene 1300) to transmit it's signal (500Mw power setting. Any ideas on antenna placement would be appreciates thx!

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  7 лет назад

      No matter how the antenna is mounted, you should get more than 10 meters range at 500 mW. Easily. Do the basic checks: verify you are on the correct channel, for example. Verify you are not in pit mode. Verify the antenna is not damaged. Make sure the pigtail is securely connected.

      Joshua Bardwell I have and I misspoke I can get good range but not with a lot of interference when I turn around. I will be flying away from myself but when I turn around I get a lot of interference.

    You have another video using the Taranis that shows how you can select receiver 00 to allow one model setting to control all of your similar quad copters. My question is. If using the one quad model option, will all the models be centered on Betaflight? Thanks, I am going to check my models right now.

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, the subtrims and endpoints will be the same if you use a serial receiver and the same model in Taranis.

      I just testing this with my Vortex 150 and the new 180 I just setup. I went from one model to the other (yes, I have 2 models set up) and I know for sure the 150 had yaw drift. All I did was set up the 180, then go into the 150 settings on the radio, copied the changes, and when I plugged in the 150 to betaflight, that drift was gone. Amazing! Thanks for all your efforts. I would like to chat with you sometime, I have a few questions about the Taranis... I'm formerly JR, then spektrum. Thanks again!

    You mention plugging in your battery before making adjustments. Is this really necessary? I was able to adjust endpoints and subtrims without plugging in battery (just plugging into Betaflight).

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  6 лет назад

      Not all FC power the receiver when plugged in to USB. Yours does, in which case you don't need to plug in to adjust these settings.

    hello josh i just got the 4 inch frame from the rotorxatom v3 i have 1306 4000kv motors on it can i use 4inch props on those motors or which motors should i use please help

    • @JoshuaBardwell

      What battery are you running? I see 1306 motors being listed for 2S batteries with 5" and 6" props. So presumably they can easily do 4". But I don't really fly a lot of motors that size so I can't say for sure.

    Or just use iBus which (I'm pretty sure) magically sets the endpoints correctly without human intervention.
    The only time I ever used SBUS on my i6x was with an Omnibus FC which had inversion on one of the UARTs and I needed all my UARTs.

    • @audiogek
      @audiogek 7 лет назад +1

      That's what I thought. Though I just started doing fast righthand rolls and noticed that they were much faster than the easier lefthand rolls I'm used to.
      Checked in betaflight and was baffled to see the endpoint at 1100. Now I check really everything after every (re-)build

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  7 лет назад +3

      I'm not sure how iBus could automatically set the endpoints. That would be surprising if it were true.

    • @tehllama42
      @tehllama42 7 лет назад

      I'm curious as well - mine were set up really nicely out of the box, and seem to be on point... but I assumed I was simply lucky, or too new to know the difference. Follow up video FTW

    • @yonallb
      @yonallb 7 лет назад

      I don't think it sets endpoints automatically (how would it?), but it does hold the midpoint a lot better than SBUS. Less wander.

    In the end stop tab. How far can you go over 100%? Im planning to use this for a robotic arm project and need the servos to move more than 90 degrees :)

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  6 лет назад

      I think it can go up to 125% if you enable extended servo limits. If you need more throw than that, you'll want a gear.

    Hi, can someone help me please? I have this transmitter and a kk 2.1.5 board. Quadcopter sometimes rotates for a little bit when I am flying because I accidentally push the left throttle stick to the right or left side you know. Is there any way to fix this with this board and transmitter? I would be glad if you help me out :)

    • @JoshuaBardwell

      The answer to this situation is to train yourself to stop pushing the stick.
