  • Hoarder Sally-Ann Howell's kitchen is now barely recognisable (inset and bottom left) after she called in cleaning experts to her two bedroom flat in Tivadale, West Midlands. Following complaints about a strong smell coming from her home, cleaning firm N Gervais set about ridding her kitchen of piles of cluttler and rubbish (centre and top left), which she could no longer even access. The 45-year-old's bedroom has also been completely transformed (bottom right) and is a farcry to its previous state (top right). 'I also suffer with carpet bugs, they'd actually be crawling over the bed. And kind of crawling over your legs so, it was not very nice', Ms Howell said before the deep clean. She added: 'That's what happens when you're a hoarder - you have to find somewhere to sleep because there's nowhere else to sleep.' Ms Howell said her hoarding began seven years ago following the sudden death of her cat, which led on to her developing depression and anxiety. Now, both her flat and her life have changed for the better. 'It had got to a stage where if my mum had passed away and I was still living in the same situation, I don't think I'd be here now', she said.

Lady just needed a helping hand, and those lovely people were there to listen and be gentle and guide her out of her confusion. That's a nice way for the world to be.

What an amazing transformation. That beautiful lady just blossomed with some care and attention. We all need someone to care about us when we're low...to reach out and check in with how we're feeling. That was heartwarming and I wish her all the best in life. My heart goes out to her on the loss of her mother.

My mom and sister let the cat poop in a single room in our house. That room was filled to the brim with trash too. I had so much hard time cleaning the place coz it was a biohazard. After that my sister wanted my room so she tried to transfer to it while i was away. After all my hardwork they think they can just take my room. So we had conflict. After a few years i discovered that my mother hid all the trash i collected from the room full of cat poop. I was so angry! To be honest its useless talking to this people. I just do whatever i want and throw trash away when they are not around. They cannot even remember their things.

What a STUPID comment. Her weight is not the cause of the hoarding. The hoarding is a response to trauma. If what you said were true, all hoarders were be overweight, which is definitely not the case.

UK flats are depressing...hardly any windows usually and dark and cramped. We have a small house and nowhere to put things,
it's a real drag. Animals shouldn't be in apartments or high rise flats though, especially cats the poor things. They need a backyard with grass to play on and protection from cruel neighbours too. It would be like being in a jail. Animals are so precious though and such
a comfort. I rate them up with humans (in fact nicer).
