SHARPHAM ROAD PLAYING FIELDS PARKRUN! A stunning parkrun around Sharpham playing fields! This parkrun utilises the old railway line, the Strawberry Line! Join me as I provide an in-depth review of the Sharpham Road Playing Fields parkrun experience. Two out-and-back laps on a mixture of grass, trail and tarmac/cinder tracks. Start on the playing fields, go around the rugby pitch and into a short wooded stretch, turning left onto the Strawberry Line path, then up to the northern turning point around the log benches and then down to the southern turning point by the access ramp. Return to go around the north edge of the playing fields, back into the woods and repeat for lap 2. At the end of lap 2 cut across the playing fields to the finish.
Buggies/prams and dogs are allowed and there is are toilets near the start. As the route is on a mixture of terrains and in the winter the ground can be soft in places, trail shoes are recommended, however, road shoes are fine in the summer months when the grass section is hard. It is a fairly quiet parkrun with usually around 108 attendees, therefore, you have a quick start, however, there is a bottle neck at the start which may slow you down. With it being a flat course it makes it a great run for a PB! A nice scenery for a parkrun with the stunning views around the park and neighbouring reservoirs and hills and a great atmosphere too! I will be doing parkruns all over the UK and rest of the world! Every Saturday I take part in a 5K run trying my hardest to get under 20 mins. Sharpham Road Playing Fields Parkrun is a parkrun towards the South West of England. It is a great run to tick off the "S" on the alphabeteer challenge.
