I was a quiet atheist until I sat on the side of the bed and watched my mother die. All doubt has been removed. There is something so great, powerful and compassionate that loves us unconditionally. Faith was the last and greatest gift my mother left me.

Faith is a Gift of God. Eph 2:8-9. It’s precious , you can lose many things but not faith in Jesus. The whole world, your flesh , the devil are all fighting tirelessly to steal it, suppress it, and ultimately destroy it.

My journey to the Catholic faith started some years ago when I watched Jordan Peterson's Biblical Series.... he didn't convert me, but he definitely without a doubt opened the door for me to be able to overcome my prejudiced view of religion and explore Christianity with an open mind.... I recently completed RCIA and am now a baptized practicing Catholic. Praise be to God.

A deity born parthenogenetically in a human female arranges to have himself as his own son tortured to death, come back to life and ascend to the heavens unaided by technology to return to himself about 2000 years ago to absolve you of your "sins" today.
Not absurd enough as a myth you've now decided to arrange your life around it.

@@twntwrs Ok, so what about. There was absolutely nothing, but by some rules of quantum mechanics which just arrive out of nowhere, an ideally sorted system appeared out of nowhere, with 0 entropy, which started falling into chaos, giving birth to all life, which is totally pointless, as it's going to fall into cold emptiness, like it never existed, with no traces remaining of even slightest form of information. Yeah, that sounds plausible 😁.

If humans lump all their "unknowns" into a single deity, that is what "God" is. We the humans have created God to fill the knowledge gap, as the gap gets filled with real understanding, our need for God is diminishing. Organized religion is a real thing, but God is not.

It is appointed for us to die once, but after this the judgment. God is going to judge the world in righteousness and the standard he is going to judge by is the moral law. Jesus said that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. God sees your thought life. He requires truth in your inward parts. “Whoever hates his brother is a murderer” 1 John 3:15. Who of us is guiltless? If you’ve lied you are a liar, and all liars have their part in the lake of fire.
So how are you going to do on judgement day? We are all going to be guilty and the lake of fire is a reality for all who die in their sins. But God is rich in mercy. Born of a woman, God was manifest in the flesh as Jesus of Nazareth who suffered and died on the cross. God loves us so much that while we were still sinners Christ died painfully for us. He took our punishment so we could be forgiven. Then he raised from the dead and was witnessed by hundreds. You and I broke God’s Law, Jesus paid the fine. What you and I must do is repent and trust alone in Him. Do that today and you’ll pass from death to life! If you want to learn more about what Jesus did for you, read the gospels.

I met a man near the Mourne mountains , Northern Ireland
Turned out he was a Catholic priest, teacher, lecturer in Rome, home visiting his brother who was also a ( local parish) priest.
I mentioned my returning path to faith being strongly influenced by a Canadian Psychologist
He smiled the most beautiful knowing boyish ( belaying his age as he was certainly in his 60's) smile and said that would be Jordan Peterson.
My heart leapt instantaneously with the connection, as we discussed his lecture s in the cold air and his loving respectful reflection on JP's lectures was so evident. (His favorite to that date was his interview with Bishop Barron whome he had himself met in person..)
Although it was obscure meeting, only 20 minutes, I felt something akin to a kindred with this wonderful guy, who like JP did not egotistically use his knowledge to brow beat or show off but to share and point. I have thanked God many times since for providing yet another great connection and spiritual reinforcement.
So thankful that Jordan has shared his life and journey with us. Reckoned many times over the last three years that I (60+er, ) was blessed to be alive at this precise time... Thanks, great pod and 💜to you three.

What a tribute! Yes, we should look to imitate those who walk in heart felt love. In the Bible, Paul tells us to be imitators of Christ…and then he goes on to describe Christ so that we know what type of person he was (Phillipians 2:5 -8). He tells us to be like minded, to have the same attitude as Christ. It’s hard to find people like this in the world but they are among us. Christ is our example but we rejoice when we find people among us who resemble Christ. We are not perfect as He was, but we strive to love like He did. I love in I Cor. Where Paul says Love compels him…May love compel us to live right and walk humbly. Oh my, I am such a work in progress! I love to listen to Jordan although he is way over my head, I get his message & tender heart. I have listened to him for a long time & prayed he would acknowledge Christ (as the Bible says we must) & he has. Christ is using him.

and it's for these reasons that he is so authentic, so real and so honest
in today's fragmenting society...there is no one better to emulate than one you deeply respect and look up to and we are all very lucky to have him, especially those who don't know him, or those who have been lied to about him.

The comment on hell at the end is very important.
I find in my own life that one of the main reasons I cling to God is I’m aware of my tendencies to NOT be a good person. I have no problem admitting that I would have definitely been part of the evil if I had lived in Nazi Germany. I’m fully aware that without God I cannot be good.
I hear people say “most people are good” all the time in popular culture, but it’s a lie. We are all capable of things we don’t even want to admit to ourselves. If you truly believe that you are a good person I can see how God can seem unimportant.
Once you become aware of the sin in your own life you also understand why we all need a saviour. I can try to imitate Christ but unless I have the Holy Spirit (which is God living inside of me) I will only fail.

JP often gets emotional when discussing whether anyone deserves to claim that they truly believe, and the answer is definitely NO. None of us deserves anything but damnation, but it is God's grace that allows us the gift of eternal life. I believe JP needed to hear that specifically, and he needed to hear it from a peer so as to not sound like blind faith. Your example of the metaphysical in watching your children sleep and wanting to freeze that moment forever hit JP very hard, and your point about finding Christ in everyone allows you to not only make you want to be a better man but to allow for your own forgiveness - that was a powerful point you made which really hit home with him.

I hold a degree in theology (Wesleyan-Arminian variety), and 4 years further in philosopy (existentialists, the rationalists, the empiricists..etc)...after having become a theist from a complete atheist, I intellectually accepted Christianity. I was strongly influenced by the 'literalists', though I don't think I was ever a die hard biblical literalist. The statement of Peterson about how a over-emphasis on the literal facts can diminish the value of the story morally just floored me. I will never forget it. An 'of course' that is true moment hit me like a stone. However, the death, life, and resurrection of Jesus must be viewed as a perfect synthesis of moral story/historical convergence. So, both story and fact meet in the scriptures, but many times the stories are diminished in impact by focusing on whether they 'really happened'....with the neccessary exception of the life, death, resurrection of Jesus, because without both of those combined, the story and the literal truth of it historically, both the historical reality and the 'story' would be rather flimsy.

For me to wake up 6 days later and my children telling me they were called by the dr to come and say their goodbyes as my Malaria was detected too late and my blood levels drop way to fast and that within the day (which was my birthday) would drop to the level where white and red blood cells will split and they can do nothing about it. I can tell you why I got sucked into the biblical series, because that’s what happens. These stories have that effect on people, and have had so for a long time. And when you have great orator as yourself who takes us along for the ride and asks the right questions and struggles with the possible answers. That’s what we all try to do in our mediocre way. So it helps when you do it with us. And you sincerely go to the edge of your understanding. And maybe God is guiding our lives more than we like to give Him credit for. All I know is, I gobbled it up and started to listen to Jonathan Pageau after that. What an absolute gem of a man, he makes my head spin sometimes but he knows about some deep things and sees the patterns, hears the music and so on. And he had a way of conveying it. That Jung society presentation and the Q&A afterward was great, also His talk “Pentecost and the zombie apocalypse” was great. I’m only ten minutes in so I’m gonna stop commenting now. I hope my answer provided some extra insight into why the Biblical series was so populair. We needed it and didn’t even know how much until we saw it.

My first thoughts and feeling upon starting this video: Genesis is true because it is recorded history. It's not made up, it is exactly what happened. It is so relevant to every individual because this is literally where everyone comes from. So nothing that is written is more relevant than Genesis humanly speaking. I can't fathom how something that is not historically accurate could be so deep, relevant, and profound. I think what needs to be questioned is todays science which is not rooted in the "history" it presumes to know so much about - probably the reason why it is not profound, nor deep ( ie. primarily propositional), nor relevant, in light of the shallowness and human error resulting from it - without any doubt - in the last century.
Please Pray for Jordan. I started asking people in a Church group I attended to pray for Jordan two and half years ago. What could be more important than praying for someone who is progressively unfolding the truth of God's word from such a reasoned perspective. I look forward to seeing Jordan extolling the heights of God's grace in a body and mind that is finally glorified and free from the weight of pain and anguish. It's my faith.

Such a wonderful discussion. When the 'Living faith" discussion came up, this verse popped up for me. 1 John 4:19 19 "We love because he first loved us."
To even have faith to do good in the way the Bible teaches us is impossible without first the love of God touches our hearts first. The Bible then tells us because we are called by God first to have love and faith, that we can freely choose to accept Jesus as our Lord truly. Living faith is a new faith in life. The Bible then tells us that the 'old has gone and new has come, that we ourselves are a new creation' when we put our true faith in Christ. So any discussion on doing good for a Christian, starts with Christ. Without Him, we can not be good.

My Christian walk started nearly 70 years ago, biblical clarity and ultimate understanding can be expressed as the "3-P's" of my faith; (1) God has a PLAN, know it; (2) you have a PURPOSE in this plan, live it; and (3) God gives a PROMISE in this plan, take it; for how we live reveals what we believe. It’s incredible what you can discover when you are willing to keep asking questions and hunger for truth. I think one of the problems with our modern society is people are too busy or lazy to ask questions and go deep. It’s easy to brainwash a crowd and get them to accept an ideology when they are too busy to ask questions.
All the different ideologies that are poisoning Western society right now crumble pretty quickly if you take the time to ask questions. The Bible is the complete opposite, people only think it doesn’t make sense because they haven’t questioned it enough. The more questions you ask the more you will find that God’s word in the Bible is true. Keep going!

This was awesome, Dr. Peterson! Thank you very much for this and future videos you do on this topic. You hit the nail on the head when you made this statement: "You tell people that you love how to avoid the road to Hell. You don't do that because you're shaking your finger at them or because you're a moral authority, you do it because you don't want them to burn."
Being a son of a pastor, I despised and avoided God for 18 years because I was rebellious. I was supposed to live and be "a good person" which would get me to Heaven. My "reality" during that time period of my life was that God was evil as I could never be "good enough". So therefore no matter what I did, no matter what my dad told me to do, I was Hell bound and would never make it into Heaven.
Like many pastors, my dad didn't pay enough attention to God's love, mercy and grace but mainly exposed me to God's judgement, wrath and what some would perceive as pure evil. Ultimately God's punishment which lies within wrath is not evil, it is God's righteousness tangibly acted out in a fearfully, uncanny way. Uncanny in the sense that sometimes we can't fathom it as reality, so I think it may in some cases bring out the worst in humanity.
Our response to Hell should be more like yours, yet we scoff at Hell because it shouldn't exist if God was all loving. Hell had to exist though because evil exists, and yet God is indeed all loving because both evil (which resides in Hell) is separate from God. God proved that He indeed was all loving as He provided a way to avoid Hell if we choose to accept it. If God was evil, He would not have provided that way out. However, choosing to accept His way means a bit of self-sacrifice, so some will never accept it. This way out was through the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of God's own flesh, Jesus Christ of Nazareth which allowed us to have grace to be in God's presence. It's our faith in His grace, not in our works which get us to heaven. Our works are a testament to that faith.
I am glad I'm not God, but am glad I can try to help tell others know the truth in how to avoid "burning". Thanks again Dr. Peterson, may God bless you and keep you; making his face shine on you and be gracious to you; may the Lord God turn his face toward you and give you and your family peace.

I truly find God in the way you speak about Him, in the ideas you bring forth and explore, in the tenderness with which you speak about beauty and meaning and this awe-terror a human feels when they peek through the veil at true beauty. I was deeply touched about the story of your patient, and how destructive nihilistic depression can be; I went through a period of very severe nihilistic anxiety and it was the darkest experience I have had in my life, it *was* hell on earth. Thank you for all the work that you do, and God bless you in this new year and always.

Great scott, Jordan, whether you realise it or not, after all these years you're still shedding a lot of light on understanding God's Word on a rational sense. Beautiful. See you in person in 2022, God willing.

This was such a thoughtful conversation that inspires the virtues of faith, hope and charity. Faith: “fly on the wings of faith and reason,” hope: when you “pull back the curtain and see the paradisal state that could be if things were done properly,” and charity to warn others of hell that “you’ve been unbelievably sheltered to not believe in.”

I want you to know that you are loved more than your imagine Dr. Peterson. You speak truth and sometimes it’s hard to hear but I’ve spoken with many people about you since I first found you on RUclips about 6 years ago or so. Everyone I’ve spoken with loves that you pull no punches. What you have been doing is exactly what the world needs and is very much appreciated. I watch every video of you I can as do many of my friends. I pray good health and many blessings for you. You have helped me and many others beyond measure and I just want to say thank you!

Jordan Peterson reminds me of 2 Timothy 1:7
Jordan Peterson, may you continue to be blessed and remember that more of us love you than those who don't...for greater is HE that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Regarding the future Exodus series, I would love to hear you interview some of the Christians in the One For Israel movement. It would be a beautiful conversation between Jewish Christians and yourself, bringing life to the truths of the Exodus story. Hearing both the Jewish and Christian perspective along with your personal studies would be fascinating! Thank you for all your amazing interviews! I also am praying for you and your family. ♥️

As interesting as that sounds (I too follow the guys from One for Israel), I'm not sure about the chemistry between Jordan and those guys. They can give a bit of insight about Jewish tradition, translations, history and what I really like about them is the part when they explain how to read the scriptures. But when it comes to the old testament and prophecies and all that, Jewish scholars tend to have that (take it in a good way) more mythical understanding of things but in a literal way somehow. They give that vibe that somehow they would understand it better than everyone else (from an outsiders perspective at least this is how it's perceived). And I don't know what would Dr. Peterson do with that vibe, because he actively tries to understand things better, but somehow, same with Christians by the way but a bit less, he doesn't even get the chance, because it's always edged out for the ultimate understanding needs that leap of faith to Christ. I think Dr. Peterson needs people and conversations that try to narrow that gap, rather than widen it.
But all in all it would still be an interesting conversation. Might lead him to understand how much he doesn't know yet, and that he is scratching the surface only.
Thank you for mentioning One for Israel.

Right on John Peterson. When you love to and extent that you tell people to do good so that they don’t end up in hell. May the Lord blesses you with good health and to know him in a deeper way.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
