- This is the PEN Story in stop motion. We shot 60.000 pictures, developed 9.600 prints and shot over 1.800 pictures again. No post production! Thanks to all the stop motion artists who inspired us. We hope you enjoy :-)
Some of the comments we have read here suggest that we should mention the creator of "A wolf loves pork", Mr Taijin Takeuchi.
While we were looking for a way to realise a story describing "a journey through time" based on printed images, we were inspired by Mr Takeuchi's brilliant work. For this reason we intentionally quoted his work in our little movie while showing full respect to his original idea. We didnt mention his name because we did not want to do so without his prior agreement.
However after considering some of the comments posted here we have decided to add credits to him and his work, which we obviously absolutely love.
After all these years I still keep going back to this video. It's absolutely brilliant. Is there an hd version of it?
The world is not a bed of roses; it's a dirty place, a cruel place, that doesn't care how tough you are. It will bring you to your knees and you will be on your knees forever if you let it. You, me, no one is going to hit as hard as life, but it's not about hitting hard. It's about how much you can take it and keep going, how much can you take and keep trying. That's how you can win.
Now if you know your worth, then go after what you deserve, but you have to be prepared to catch. And no pointing fingers, saying you can't do it because of him or her, or anyone else. Only cowards do that and you're not a coward, you're better than that.
Same!

Unforunately not. In those early days we did not even think about HD.... 😄
Same here.
Doing a stop motion project for school and my teacher showed us this today. Amazing!
Just because it's an ad doesn't make it any less amazing. It was beautifully done. Can't imagine the time and effort that was put into this project. Well done!
i dont know how many times I watched this video. Time to time something reminds me this video and I am finding myself to watch this video. Great work. Big respect
Same here!
Who said a commercial cannot be a true work of art?
It's absolutely the BEST commercial I've ever seen.
This is always one of my favorite video on youtube, I might come back to watch again 10 years later
This is one of the most creative ideas I've seen for a very long time, and beautifully executed, well worth the work ,superb.
Wow, the most greatest video i have ever seen in my entire life.
This is one of the most amazing things i've ever seen! I'm not sure people realize how much work and dedication this takes. Wow.

Oh MY God! This is UTTER GENIUS! This is easily award-worthy, so I hope you submitted it in some competition!!
Where did the family go? Are they dead? Or did he turn gay (balloon scene). I think from the moment on he walks away from his family it's just sad...
this is the greatest thing i've seen *___* wow, respect to you guys for making this up and then actually doing it!
Where did the kid and wife go?
Tadashi Sensei dead probably
wow that was so amazing. thought the bit going up with the ballon and down with the parachute picture was really cool.
Really great, but Guess you couldn't get an older model/actress to play his older wife? What happened to his family? LOL
as an amateur photographer myself, I found this video simply amazing.
Had a smile on my face from the start till the end.
Perfect :)
Go figure, leaving your family to find yourself is still lame even when it happens in the coolest stop motion you've seen in years.
Kudos to Olympus for creative storytelling in an ad. Next time, find a more redeeming story. People aren't just chapters in your life to experience and then discard when the next chapter roles around.
Oh my gosh! And the dive into the aquarium when the EQ sweep cut off all the high frequencies in the instruments … ! What genius!
means allot more if you saw this video in 2009 and watch it again today, really makes you reflect.
Absolutely creative and extremely well thought out! This is the greatest stop animation video I've ever seen.
That is amazing!! Talk about commitment to shoot all those photos! I bet the lab where you got them developed was happy :-)

That was great! Totally fascinating. But I'm lost what happened to his family? Does their disappearance mean a divorce? That just bugged me a bit that they disappeared. Great video though!
Incredible concept. It takes stop motion to a whole new level. Extremely impressive.

wow...wow...wow....GREAT!!!
So amazing, great done! Liked this
It's things like this that remind me how much life is worth living.
Everybody's talking 'bout the video - mention this awesome song there
If you think about it, people are more like those chapters starting and ending than permanent parts of your life. You change, they change and the whole narrative is only alive in memories. But if you look at each "chapter" in your life, you see that it only retains representations of elements in the past. You are the one that links those representations into a logical string.
Fireworks posted on the window as if you were watching it, college years when he rides behind the books...everything is just perfect! Deserves a prize RUclips/Cannes... whatever!
I don't even want to know how long that took, simply brilliant.
