Daniel Thank you so very much. I've been trying to figure this out after checking ball joints, half shaft U joints, this was my exact same problem the same thing would happen. I was about to send my truck into the shop which I do not do often. But this was the fix. And I can not thank you enough!!
THANK YOU!!!! I can't tell you how many videos or post I have seen or read describing most of the symptoms, but you are the only one that has described it exactly like I have described it to my wife. so anxious to tear into my F250, I can't wait till the part stores open now!
Just bought a Ex, 2002 4X4 7.3 That had the rumble strip noise on the test drive . The man drove it for a year like that ,,, The guy had NO clue of how to take care of a Excursion or the 7.3 in it,, I Bought it QUICK ! New parts go in each night while it's cool . Thanks for posting the video on this !
Thanks for this video. Change my hubs to china hubs in december 2018. But replace this small bearings to orginal SKF bearings. Run like a dream. This video helps me å lot.
excellent video... oriellys said they only sell complete hubs lol so i looked through this video to find the bearing part number b-2110 10.99 each thwy just wanna sell u hubs
Had the same issue. Started off as a growl thought it was a hub. Literally the exact same thing. The bearing even fell out identically. Took me 1 hour and 45 minutes for driver side. Don’t know how you got it done in 15. Before removing the hub assembly there was also a retention clip that you have to expand to remove.
Nope...it is a caster issue that can be overcome by replacing ALL the worn parts in your front end and going back to the stock wheels and tire size. Also...if your Ford has no track bar...get one. Sad but true...
My 2003 Excursion had that rumble noise so I changed out the complete wheel bearing hubs and the noise is still there. What ever could be wrong? The tires show feathered, could the tires made that rumble noise?
Just had to replace the rear differential bearings in my Durango, the inner pinion bearing went bad, came out and it was all pitted, not as bad as this bearing was though.
Tear down and re grease the bearings and put back together. The same way you replaced them. It sucks but you can inspect the axle and breaks as you tear down. (A safety inspection of all other parts while apart)
The last few weeks I have been watching videos on everything from locking hub swaps to ball joint replacements and on almost everyone one of them the mechanic puts the new parts and the old ones going back on the vehicle on the bare ground. I don't know about most people but I try to set my parts on something clean like cardboard or clean rags. Contaminating your parts with dirt and Gravel doesn't seem like a good idea.
Serious question... How would these bearings cause a vibration in 2WD? I didn't think the axle would be turning if the hubs are unlocked & 4WD disengaged. ??
MY DRIVEWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!How mad am i about it. oh wait aint mine
Do NOT do this repair based solely upon just this video. Optimism is a great thing but be prepared to invest far more time and money than is shown here.
This could happen to any vehicle if the component is exposed to mud and water. Like he said, the truck had high mileage when these went out (my guess is the bearings were original), so they lasted pretty long.

I just started hearing this sound. This may be my weekend project. Thanks for the tips, great video.
Did you ever check it out???

TheEric1356 just go to onriely and ask for this
Yeah there are jack stands @ 0:11, but they didn't extend high enough for this truck.

Thanks for the insight. I have the exact same truck with the same noise. Only over bumps. You are the man.
me too. freaked me out. lol
I have a 2001 Ford excursion 4wd 7.3 and the driver side is leaning I just wanted to know if you have had that problem before and how to fix it?
I have a f350 2wd and it get that rumble.but when I speed up or slow down it stops. Any advise on what it could be
The infamous ford "death wobble" it sounds like.
Matt Dias the death wobble is a bushing issue
Nope...it is a caster issue that can be overcome by replacing ALL the worn parts in your front end and going back to the stock wheels and tire size. Also...if your Ford has no track bar...get one. Sad but true...
What were the part numbers of the part you used?
Oh jeez hope i didnt fuck mine up bad 💀 i couldnt figure out what this was forever and just put it off, im gonna be checking this out asap 💀💀
Man thought I had same problem changed bearings. Problem still there I'm stumped
My 2003 Excursion had that rumble noise so I changed out the complete wheel bearing hubs and the noise is still there. What ever could be wrong? The tires show feathered, could the tires made that rumble noise?
I've got the same Gerber, damn fine tool! Unless you stupidly short yourself out when changing a battery on a Corolla...
your stub axle wasnt damaged?
Used to have an 01 excursion 7.3 with 195000 miles wish I knew about this procedure I would have done it myself
how many people think it really took 15 mins per side? i would estimate 45-60 mins
You are correct. On a lazy sunny day it took me 90 minutes a side listening to car talk. My bad...
your a wizard
It doesn't take long, but I would've replaced the hub assembly you can get two for 200 on ebay
what's that snap on torq you got there?
Just had to replace the rear differential bearings in my Durango, the inner pinion bearing went bad, came out and it was all pitted, not as bad as this bearing was though.
is that a redi sleeve?
Buy my bearing for this on Ebay. Got Napa/Skf bearing. Ship it to Norway😊👍🇧🇻 thanks for the video.
i have seen shocks cause that before, atleast on dodges... you'd think ford would be somewhat the same, no? could also cause tire cupping
Its rumblestrip and can you do a video about the generator
not a 1 ton chassis. Its a F250 chassis.
Some people replace leaf springs from a f350. Now you got 1 ton chassis?
Can the same be done with the rear axle?
Once on the truck, how do you grease them?
Tear down and re grease the bearings and put back together. The same way you replaced them. It sucks but you can inspect the axle and breaks as you tear down. (A safety inspection of all other parts while apart)
Riffraff Diesel makes the hubs serviceable with its in house grease zerk fitting for ABS equipped hub assemblies.
My needle bearing is damaged so bad, there is no lid to drive, I have grind cut the bearing journey to take bearing shell out.
Very helpful, thanks bro
Nice job😊👍
is there a part #?

dose it apply to all fords???
Does
Do you have the part number?
LOL, my f250's front end shakes when you go over 80 mph... i think it is because the toe in/out is WAYYYY off
What brand of impact gun is that?
it said snap-on right on the gun....
@ :11 there are jack stands. He says he don't have any jack stands!
To keep an eye on them jest lift the axle up an down /little play normal over 1/4"not so good
Serious question... How would these bearings cause a vibration in 2WD? I didn't think the axle would be turning if the hubs are unlocked & 4WD disengaged. ??
Agreed
i had this happen to me. but sadly it was not caught fast enough and the tire locked up going down the interstate.
RIP
good job on video !
Awesomeness
Truck looks weird with the late model grill and the factory head lights.
Did you check the other side as well, great information my man....
yea that's it. replace and pack grease often.
i also miss a lot off grease!
i have alot of friends who drive fords n they dont have the problem id its just somethin you adapt to
7:25 shout out to me for trolling
really? i dont see how that would make the tires go all caddywhopas look up 05f250 death wobble THAT is what my truck does
Complete hub assembly under 200$.. worth changing the whole thing once youve got it apart
took like 3 hours not 15 minutes
MY DRIVEWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!How mad am i about it. oh wait aint mine
bad shocks could cause it too
Probably not rust. Just pulverised rollers 😂😭
bad shocks could cause this too
so was hole Truck vibrating
Is at Good videos
$500 wtf who the hell buys parts from factory Ebay $100.00
Do NOT do this repair based solely upon just this video. Optimism is a great thing but be prepared to invest far more time and money than is shown here.
Thats true..... I have to buy new hubs.
bad design with those bearings.
your problem is circled
Sounds like shit Ford engineering . . .

He said it was due to lack of maintenance on that specific chassis part ya goof. Lol people find any little thing to bitch at these days.
