Christa Hoyt was found stabbed to death in Gainesville a day after Christina Powell and Sonja Larson. Two of the three women had been posed by the suspect.

Ann garren died in 2014
Her family filed a lawsuit against the owner of her apartment for not double the security and cheap tampered glass sliding door. Plus the back door is the woods which the killer could get in without being notice. Her family recieved 180, 000 but they hadnt done anything to do with the money
The grieving mother says the cash no provides no comfort nothing will ever replace or could bring my daughter back.

Universities need to make more on-campus living accommodation especially for girls and any off campus student accommodation should have really good security. We need to learn from these tragedies
Christa Hoyt was so freaking smart and dedicated. It sounds like she would have made an awesome police officer. It makes me so sad and angry to know that this evil person robbed her of all of that. I have always wondered if one of the reasons he went after her was because she worked for the sheriff's office. It was almost like Rolling was taunting law enforcement. He actually laid in wait for her too. Something else that is really eerie is that the night that Christina and Sonja were killed, they went to Walmart to get some stuff for their apartment. At the same time they were in the register line checking out, Danny Rolling was in the exact same Walmart in a different part of the store purchasing the screwdriver and some other stuff he would later use to commit the crimes. If that doesn't send shivers up your spine, I don't know what else would. There were also literally thousands of pieces of evidence in this case. Tracey was in her last semester of school. That pisses me off too. She had done all that hard work and never got to finish it and get her diploma and walk at graduation. All these students were robbed of being able to fulfill their potential. The frustration of asking and wondering "What if?", is never finding out the answer.
All five were academically gifted, hard-working and good-hearted. Sonja, Christina, Christa and Tracy all were described by everyone that knew them as really gentle and kind. Like Dianna Hoyt, Christa's step-mother said, these were all wonderful kids.
@@mortensenegbert6619 You're right they all were. Tracy was in her last semester for pete's sake. Manny sounds like a great guy. Not just because he put up such a fight but the way they described him.
I came here because I heard that the movie 'Scream' was based off this killer, Danny Rolling.
When I read about Christa and what he had done to her {especially with her head and body}, that stuck with me, very strongly. I still was EXTREMELY disturbed, and sick to my stomach, but I HAD to come and find out more, for myself. The fact that some SICK HUMAN BEING would do this to someone, ESPECIALLY knowing her connection to law enforcement, and how much they respected and loved her, and wanted to see her do good/succeed/have a long, healthy, happy life...
This man doesn't register, to me, as a MAN at all, but a MONSTER!!!

I feel SO BAD for the officers and others that found her - - - I would imagine that they suffered (and STILL probably) suffer PTSD, struggle with their mental and emotional health, and have reaccuring nightmares - - - even to this day.

I was 15 and had JUST moved to Gville...it was terrifying g...they closed literally the whole city d own for 3 days or more until he was caught. Remember it li,e yesterday.

Yes i am from gainesville fl people ask me was i scared which i tell them i was little at the time so i really didin kno much about danny rollin or his vic at the time but i can tell u this doe the area he was hidin out in and dwn the rd from whre the apartment complex whre he ever take one life which i still cant belive they still around to this day so every one who lost they life back in 1990 r.i.p.........

When I was their age, I traveled to a lot of places, even Florida too. Never was bothered. Only for dates. I'm glad I was young during the greatest era. It was so much safer. Glad I lived when this Country was the best. Can't say the same today. I would not want to be a kid today.
