HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE * I purchased my first copy of Bhagavat Gita As It Is in 1972.
Heart and mind - open - to this Supreme revelation - and the Real Being within - stirs the whole manifestation - both inner and outer - by His Special Will - to His Divine Plan. Thank you
Without the commentary by Srila Prabhupada this is not very important to listen to . Every verse has meaning that must be understood through the words and wisdom of the Guru. Without the commentaries this is everything Prabhupada warned against --, western interpretation without God Consciousness.
Regardless of commentary it is still up to the individual to accept or reject the words that are read, listened to or spoken. Thanks for your comment 🙏❤
And what Guru is there that is greater than Krishna himself!? Just listen with dedication and without doubt and you will be lead to that supreme destination.
Respectfully, if you need commentary to tell you what to think of the situation; commentary that isn't simply reminding you to listen with an open and intuitive heart, unattached to the words and encouraging one to listen for the message that comes to them; than you may be caught up being the person trying to listen, rather than simply listening. Commentary can be good and useful for those who need or want it. Food comes in all flavors. But to say it's not important to listen to without someones commentary, I would personally say is misguiding and may turn people away who might find something in the Bhagavad Gita that is of use to them. We don't know the work they're here to do on themselves, so the misguiding kind of undercuts opportunities for others to explore the concepts discussed in the Bhagavad Gita. Because they were turned away. It is said that one can receive new understanding everytime they read the Bhagavad Gita, especially at different stages of life and after various life situations. To do so only ever with a specific person's commentary and reinforcing their momentary perspective on it can stifle one's ability to repeatedly learn new things from the same story.

I don't agree with you. For myself, it's a great way to listen on the go. Something is better than nothing
