The hell with the keyboard comando's That truck looks damn good just the way it is, I am excited to see the box. Awesome Tank job Josh. Thanks for the video.
Very nice! After 2 sets of straps rusted out, I decided to ditch that side tank for one in the back as well. I used an aluminum tank, but think I over built the mounts with 3/4 square tube cage. I may regret that. You may want to consider putting some old strap material between the mounting straps and the tank to guard against abrasion. Good progress!
@lexrios5452 an aluminum 20 gallon cheapie off ebay. Actually fairly good quality. The downside is that aluminum is fairly delicate for dings and abrasion.
So glad I ran into this. I'm restoring a '78 W150 & was wondering what fuel tank I could use to replace the one that comes in the driver side. Is there a video that shows how you got the filler tube done?
It's not done yet. The original filler is just going to get relocated behind the fender. The truck is a stepside so it has a special filler neck that just goes thru a hole in the bedside.
Another piece that could have been trashed but stashed and worked out great for the Dodge. Fun project--keep on fabbin' and fixin' !! Great Hat!!
I love my Freiburger hat!
Nice.
Thanks 👍

The box is a rough pike of parts, but it's coming out good.

Which tank did you use?

Holley is making a steel replacement saddle tank for these trucks now…
👍
You need a impact driver. They make quick work of pain in the butt screws.
I have one, but the slots were so rusted that the Philips wouldn't even grab them.

@@QuickSpeedShop I didn't notice the date on the video. I'll be using yours as a guide when I get to that point. Love your content!
Thank you! I'm putting the bed together now so it will be in another week or so.
is there a reason you didn't spray with kroll or wd40
The whole truck will get sprayed with Fluid Film when it's done. I put FF on the straps before I put them on.
Did you have to move the top cross brace any? I noticed the bolts instead of rivets.
No. Those bolts were there because I had to patch the frame where that mounted. I did make custom mounts and straps.
