Hey guys, in this video we are going to show you how to remove and replace the battery on VW Touareg first generation. It is not very complicated procedure once you know how to get to it. The battery on VW Touareg First Generation is located under the driver seat. You do not have to remove the seat there are 2 bolts that will need to be removed and after that you can recline the seat towards the back.

Neglected to mention, the seat track trim on the back of the seat needs to be removed first. If you don't, it will break when tilting the seat up.

I have a 2006 Torureg, I found that I had to remove the back bolts for it to flip back. Also I found a bit set that worked at O'Reilly's for 6 bucks. They call it a triple square 12point. Interstate battery didn't even have the tool and the dealership told me they wanted over 160 just for labor. Hope this saves someone some money.
Ya as a mobile mechanic I can tell you anything euro or German stock up when you can on triple square and torx .... Horrible trying to find a dealer specific one on a Sunday lol
Great Video but they missed a very important step..a backup battery backup connected to the terminals.. You can see it towards the end of the video they have one but if you are going by this video and just remove it, I think it clears your programing..not sure how fatal it is since i've seen it done at the shop...I think it should be explained the importance of the battery backup BEFORE you start taking out the battery for replacement! Otherwise, this would be 100%

Did you connect 12v batterie at engine compartment to keep el. circuit powered? I see a red/black box with wires there....
We need to use a saver memory tool to protect pcm or not necessary when remove battery. Question what kind of interface to scanner Volkswagen vehicle l never work on those cars. Thanks l appreciate your help.
This is a very very basic over view of the battery replacement on a Touareg. It misses many of the trim removal steps that will cause bits to be broken when you tilt the seat back. I think I even heard some trim bits breaking when it is first tilted back. Be warned there are more steps than this.

Hey guys I have a VW touareg 2004 my battery died and I tried just starting it sparked when I was trying to jumpstart and ever since then the car is not giving any ignition when u put the key in u here 3 beeps and then steering defective workshop comes up any one came a cross something like that? What if the power seat motor happens to be broken? Stupid f*cks. This design pisses me off so much due to the pure stupidity involved. I mean who signed off on this? The engineers are dumb as f and so are the people who accepted the final design for mass production. Idiots, the whole lot of them.

Yeah u need a vag com to program it . The alternator reads the age of battery and charges accordingly. The new battery will get over charged . I had to take it to audi they match vin on battery in the car ecu and when new it charges slower . As it ages it the alternator charges the battery longer .

not bad but after you push the seat up push the seat forward youll have more room to take the battery out\
Use a extra battery and connect it at the terminals in the engine compartment, left side near the front window.
I have a Volkswagen Toureg also and there is no electricity and it doesn't turn on, it does not unlock and the lights won't turn on either, what can I do? I have checked all cables and the electricity should run through but it does not
And your battery is good? Maybe check the fuse connections that are next to your battery under the black cover. Make sure none of those are blown.
That did not work on my 2004 V8 Touareg. There are no plastic covers in the floor. It was necessary for me to remove the L-shaped cover that blocks going under the front seat after I loosened the seat from the bracket. I might have ended up doing extra steps since I removed seat from bracket, then bracket from floor. Then I could remove the battery cover and pull battery. My battery did not have a vent tube either. I guess they made different versions. It’s not easy to pop out but once you get it then you can access the seat mounting bracket bolts in front.
What a hassle doing a battery on these cars! Worst I’ve ever seen.

Ovo je vrlo loše rešenje gde je postavljen akumulator! Ako je napon nula /V=0/ kako će pomeriti sedište? Vrlo je komplikovano da se kablovima pozajmi struja sa drugog vozila! Znači u slučaju gubitka napona akumulatora jedino šlep-služba!

And if you have a no power situation or a broken seat motor and cant move the seat back you cant change the battery to get power. What a dumb as F design. Wow wow wow. This is one of the many reasons why I tell people to never buy a VW.
