they take the stuff that did not sell and smashing them to throw in the dumpster saw then do it at the salem nh location ... can you imagine the priceless treasures they may have thrown away because they over priced used items they got for free and the item did not sell
I saw that happen in Indianapolis and it broke my heart!!
I have mixed feeling about smashing. GW gets so much stuff, mostly junk, some treasures, but their mission is to provide jobs, not warehouse society’s castoffs. Still mixed feelings here.

I bet that if they priced everything a dollar they would not have that much left to break and throw away . I would think smashing stuff is also a liability specially at that store in salem nh they have down syndrome kids working there , The video I took of the kid smashing stuff he did not have any protection on while he was doing it . I worked at a thrift taht supposedly helped local people in teh community one night the owner says "befor e you leave there are boxes near the back door that you need to throw in the dumpster .. you havbe to break everything just smash it against the back of the dumpster " " you have to break the stuff or else dumpster divers will egt teh stuff for free " My brain was like so why do you care let people willing to dumpster dive get the stuff you got the items for free and want to give up trying to sell them" . I also had to do this in winter in NH , in teh dark with no gloves or eye protection and in the cold icy and snowy. The woman was a tyrant all her employees are miserable.
honestly I never donate to GW or taht local thrift store I worked at because they throw stuff away , If I wanted my stuff thrown away I would throw the stuff away myself and save myself time and gas driving to teh stor eto donate
That male doll you where talking about is a very important one. He is used in therapy for sexually abused kids to help them talk about what part was touched or use on them.
I have sold the plastic houses before. They are part of a vintage Alpine village set. If you find them in the original box they sell for $25 - $40.
Could that have been the Baby Joey doll? Back in the 70’s All In the Family- Gloria had a son. There was a Joey doll with the parts. I think I had one- it was the RAGE!

I’m sure that the boy doll was a bit disconcerting on the shelf, but from a developmental perspective, anatomically accurate dolls are good. You just explain things matter of factly to children and they take things in stride. It’s always good to use proper names. We adults get more weirded out by things that really are just normal.
All these Goodwills are so neat. Mine looks horrible. Stuff is just thrown all on the shelves.

Probably something you wouldn't normally think to pick up, but some new old stock Bath and Body Works sell very well. Dancing Waters and even more sought after, Butterfly Flower were two lotions sitting on one of the shelves you were looking at.🙂

So happy you got to visit your daughter. I imagine it's such a change when they go to college. But the fact that she's at college n doing all that self-sufficient stuff I think means that you've done a great job parenting. And just n case you were wondering, those anatomically correct dolls are used for potty training. We used one with our boy as he'd had surgery very young n then found going back to potty training a real struggle, but this worked a treat with that book by Terri Crane - potty train your child in just one day, n she advises to get an anatomically correct doll. Sounds crazy, but we were amazed that it actually worked! :)

Nice to be close enough to visit your daughter, what a joy. Liked see you go through a Goodwill. Always interested to see what is in other Goodwills across the country. Did notice a piece of what appeared to be Mexican pottery on the end cap before you headed into the glassware aisle. Curious if you didn’t see it or don’t pick that up? Looks like similar pieces go for $30 on up (I love pottery so always notice things like that). Keep on thrifting, enjoy your adventures!

I would never go to Goodwill in the town again for they destroyed those things that didn't sell. Someone could use things to a charity
AS an adult I made a little porcelain boy doll. It is soooo cute. Children don't play with it. Those aren't for kids..
