    75% of suicides in the UK are male, but fewer men than women seek therapy. The typical reaction to this remarkable fact is to urge men to stop being silly and simply ask for help, but is this 'victim blaming' approach helping?
    In his public lecture at the University of Strathclyde (11th March 2020), Dr John Barry, Chair of the Male Psychology Section of the British Psychological Society, asks some questions that will challenge mental health professionals, and gives guidance on how mental health provision for men might be improved.

    Work like this is so important in these times. I really hate how men not willing to take up therapy is seen as their problem, not the problem of the therapy being offered.
    This is not the approach to reach people. Imagine if we took that approach in education involving disadvanted people. We'd still be making children sit on their left hand while writting and putting dunce hats on them.
