- Under the federal Fair Housing Act, it is illegal to discriminate in housing based on race, color, or national origin. Unfortunately, over 50 years after the passage of the FHA, such discrimination still occurs. In this story, John is ready to rent his property to Cristina and her husband Anthony. That is, however, until he meets Anthony. What John doesn't know is that Anthony and Cristina aren't just an ordinary couple looking for a home. His company has been under investigation for some time and John is about to receive the surprise of a lifetime.

It's funny, I'm a regular guy and found it by being homeless and I learned that white people treated me like a piece of shit but blacks and Spanish people treated like one of there own I was so humbled . Sad part about this story I'm white and i hate referring to color of crayons . So sad how whites think there so privileged makes me sick. How can it be shocking when we see it every day. Especially these last four years of American life have been superfluous with overt racism starting with the highest leader of this nation. In fact, Jingoism AKA extreme patriotism or nationalismed has been encourag, applauded and excused. EG the recent congressional storming Racism is institutionalized. It wont go away because you think it is terrible. You and only you, the people of this nation must act on it to stop it. You must first be willing to identify it. Racism is a powerful virus that frequently mutates. It takes on many forms of isms. Colorism, Cacomorphism AKA weightism, Ableism, Mysogyny, misandrony, and pansexualism. religiomisia. The list is endless. It is going to take a lot more than treating others on how you want to be treated. We have already tried that for thousands of years. It is going to take minimally constitutional changes that represents every and all person equally and equitably, policy changes, adminisrative changes, corporate changes, and personal and individual conscious changes that require one to reach outside of ones comfort zone and make a difference every day for the rest of your life. Laissez faire comments do nothing but make the commenter feel better. It is time to Rise up Stand for something and Take Action, make Equality and Equity a standard in your neighborhood, your towns, cities counties and states.

Me too, that’s why we moved from Pennsylvania to Switzerland. The house was listed at $315k and I was prepared to make a $121k cash deposit with a pre-approved mortgage loan of $425k. Once we sat down to complete the paperwork, the realtor said that the price had increased to $550k and that someone else had submitted an offer that was greater than ours. We decided not to enter into a bidding war so we left; 6 weeks later the house was still on the market listed $275k and no pending offers.

-lack of evidence (where the discrimination was subtle rather than obvious)
-realtor subtly reacting to market forces (where evidence dictates a black person moving in leads to depreciating property appraisals and ostensibly 'white flight')

I know this feeling, I was bugged a lot when I was younger because I come from multi-racial parents. My mom is from France so very white, and my dad was from Sri Lanka so he was very dark. I was called plenty of names, my mom was called a "Hindu Lover" right infront of me when I was around 8 yrs. old.

I said this is my husband. He's like really I said yes why? Oh nothing. Then he looked back at me and I said can we finish this transaction he was like i just realize this was not the item that carried the discount and the discounted one we don't carry it no more I just said look cut the bulls.
