I like the older only because of the brushed finished top flanks. Personally Brushed finished gold just looks more like natural gold especially contrasting with the polished sides. So cool. 👌🏽
I bought my first expensive watch new at the age of 24 , a Rolex Oysterquartz Day Date Egyptian, at the age of 53 I still own this watch. Many say this watch is outdated perhaps it is but so am I😊
So hard to beat the 18038 classic, 36 MM is perfect size for this watch. Just love the classic look better, some new ones look fake because the gold is so yellow vs it was more subtle with the older models.
@T Boogie What "wrong" stop talking out of your ass. Go to the Rolex website right now, configure a watch and you can configure and buy a brand new 36 so it's factually NOT discontinued.
@@jackdaniels2586 that's a good clarification, but I thought he was saying the 36mm was canceled. Also, using such an old 36 vs a newer 36 would have been a better comparison (e.g., Rolex written on the inside, double quick set). This video makes it seem like all the new features are only on the 40 mm, which isn't accurate.
Something I have a question on is, on the 40, when you turn the crown upward or clockwise, does the second hand turn clockwise or counter clockwise. I've seen videos of both, so I'm trying to determine if the 3255 turns clockwise or counter-clockwise? Thanks...
One thing I don’t like about the day date 40 is that the day and date window is always white in all dial colors, were in 36, the windows are a bit yellow, matches with the dial color
DD 40MM is pure CLASS with the Roman Numerals!!!! ❤ I'm glad to see that when a watch is "improved" that it actually looks better. However, the DD 2 (41mm) could be considered a disaster hence the reason it was discontinued....bad proportions was the main fault.
I like the champagne mon-sun and 1-31 on the old ones the white looks cheap...But I understand that the reading is easier with the black text on white background.
But the difference between the 36 and a "normal" watch is also many thousands, so you would buy a normal one if you think this way. Buying a Rolex has nothing to do with thinking like that.
Why on ROMAN NUMERALS, from Rolex, even on the Presidential/Day-Date, are the markers upside down or rights side up at times? Aren't they consistent since time began? I have a recently purchased Day/Date -from an authorized dealer - that has the 6 inversed (in roman numerals - meaning you can read it correctly when on your wrist - which makes sense), the "4" are 4 in-line markers (as in your video) but no connector on the top as some Rolexes do have. Here your 8 is inverse, mine is viewable, again, like the 6, from the front - not upside down. My NINE is IX and not just a single line as in your video. So it is quite strange - what is AUTHENTIC versus not. Either my watch was sold to me, used, as a fake (from an authorized dealer who assured me the dial was not a re-dial nor a fake) or Rolex does things differently, decade to decade. Mine is from 1980.
I initially wanted the 40mm but when I tried it , it sat flatter on my wrist. The 36mm however sat rounder on my wrist. The more I see it the better it gets. My watch collection includes an AP diver, a gmt 2, seiko turtle & cocktail. I realised I don’t have a 36mm watch I need advice. Should I get e 36mm or trade in my gmt 2 for e 40?
DatBwoiXERXESdem unfortunately I bought the 36mm & my wife can wear it too. It comes with the works , diamonds 💎 & all. Enjoying it but it’s a little loud 😄
41 is oversized clown hence the discontinued, i have the 18248 for vintage purpose and the 228238 and the 40mm definetly feels more superior to the 36. Alot of authorize retailers will actually tell you 36 is more female nowadays.
I respectfully disagree. I had a white gold day date presidential which I had purchased approximately 17 years ago. I distinctly remember the day I acquired it and how ‘proud’ I was. I loved this watch and wore it every day without fail. I never even considered that I would one day part with it. However, time moves on and this past weekend I went to my AD who gave me a generous buy back on my ‘old’ presidential, I walked out with my new white gold day date 40. I’m in love. First and foremost, as I’ve aged my eyes have become worse. Being able to see the ‘40 vs the ‘36 is night and day. I in truth never noticed how much my sight had deteriorated over time until I put the 40 on. Simply amazing. Add to that the new movement and I’m sold and 100% satisfied. If you are into and wanting a presidential, get the ‘40. It has something I refer to as major ball tingle. I love it and I suspect so will all else that wear one.
36 mm all day long> greatest watch ever made>ultimate symbolic watch for success

Sounds like a good life! Congrats. I don't see watches outdate at all, to me the 36 is like new.
Great watch the oyster quartz...great look.
I think when im 26, ill buy the 36mm DD. Its about 15-20. But I really want the 40mm. But jesus christ 50k.
Both models are simply stunning. In the right combination too
So hard to beat the 18038 classic, 36 MM is perfect size for this watch. Just love the classic look better, some new ones look fake because the gold is so yellow vs it was more subtle with the older models.
I like the older model .... looks sharper
So much classier
Agree
The 36mm looks more elegant.
The Day-Date 36 has not been discontinued.
@T Boogie What "wrong" stop talking out of your ass. Go to the Rolex website right now, configure a watch and you can configure and buy a brand new 36 so it's factually NOT discontinued.
NIGGA U DON'T KNOW
@T Boogie relax, champ
i have a 16233 as a everyday watch atm, but the 36 dd going to be the end game for me. lovely watch.
I had a 36mm double quickset theyre nlt al single quicksets
Which do you think is better the more rounded endlinks of the modern ? Or the vintage endlinks?
I waited to buy one until the links were solid and ceramic lined. The bracelet alone more than justifies the price difference.
36 was not released in the 80ies, bit the 50ies and is not discontinued...
Do you bloody homework
pretty sure he is referring to the specific reference at hand, not the series as a whole

I hate how they made the day and date wheel white now instead of champagne. Really kills it for me.

Zhigng T an good point 👍🏻
Whats the weight difference?
Hi, I’m looking for a day date 40mm. Thanks
would have been better to compare with the 36 118238 reference
im sorry but the day date is supposd to be 36mm... 40mm just looks ridiculous
Éliphas Lévi thought it was just me!!! 36 is just better!! 40 & 41 just looks like the rest of the over sized clown watches lol
Agreed
BlueMoney Benz clown sized
This is my Holy Grail watch.
Gorgeous watch!
I got my Day-Date 36 in August, 1989 and it has the double quick set.
xrayangiodoc شما
My too...
1988 started the 3155 double quick set
Same here and I also have the Roman numerals for the hours, do you?
So do I and also mine from 1990 I think has the Roman numerals for the hours, does yours?
The 18238 is a double quick set in 36mm case
36mm...
Truly class and elegance

Sure do miss these Rolex prices.
I have Rolex day date.( 18 k gold quartz) beautiful Watch.
I like 40mm better, but I don’t think it’s twice the price better. So I went with the 36mm 🙇♂️
Well said ❤️
I thought he was gonna open the bscls Andrés show the movements
I went to the rolex site and the 36 is not discontinued and was valued at 40,000 not 10,000
Price of wrist watch golden colour
The dimensions and portions look off on the 40
I like 36mm✨⌚️✨but full gold can’t causal wear😅
36 I think of LBJ
40 I think of snoop dog
Lmao, I think the same thing
How to i get it watch please
36 Classic
Whats the weight difference between 36mm and 40mm? Also are the links hollow or solid on the older Rolex?
solid
Sold
j
The difference between the 2 watches is about 24 thousand dollars so it’s a pretty easy decision in my book lol
But the difference between the 36 and a "normal" watch is also many thousands, so you would buy a normal one if you think this way. Buying a Rolex has nothing to do with thinking like that.
Can you option that champagne on a new one if you dont want the English default language
Older 36 goes for 15,000 to 19,000 in todays market
The new one 40 mm is much beautiful than the old one more big in our days look more young amazing watch
The 40mm was available for 26k four yrs ago and now I can’t find it below 42k!? Is that for real!?
Inflation. Go look at the Oysterquartz model if you want a deal
The struggle it's real...lol
Do they not have the 2015 model in 36 mm ???
Update. Yes, yes they do
THE 36mm IS A WAY BEAUTIFUL PRESIDENTIAL THAN THAT 40!
I hope the current model ages better (as far as stretch goes).
Love the new Day Date 40mm, but also want try on 36 mm 😎👍
You csnt overwind a rokex btw. Reccomended wind was 40 times and now they say 20-30
look at a used Day Date 40 today and they were asking 41k.
Went to your site no inventory 🤦♂️
36mm for me
36 mm the best 👍🥰

Some do have single line for the nine and the IX for 9
I will go with the 36. I prefer to stick with the original.
I'm glad I owned the same rock as old this.
I own this 18238.I'm satisfied.
36mm all day
*2015 model is the best one believe me champagne*

Rajindar Singh 40mm is the way to go
DatBwoiXERXESdem unfortunately I bought the 36mm & my wife can wear it too. It comes with the works , diamonds 💎 & all. Enjoying it but it’s a little loud 😄
Rajindar Singh congrats! Rolex is rolex no matter the shape and size :)
Get 36
@@ACDandMe - got it 3 years ago, still no regrets 🙏🏼
$26k I’ll goto Newport Beach and buy it tmr lmao
Don't forget the new design bracelet has better design where it attaches to the case!
Lots of things that aren’t actually factual.
Is the width of the bracelet the same for each model.
No the 40mm is wider
16k for slightly more gold and size. Not worth.
Although not perfect in design the new 40mm looks kore fresh and not like an old mans watch
36 is just better!! 40 & 41 just looks like the rest of the over sized clown watches lol

Hear, hear
@@DatBwoiXERXESdem Rubbish 36 is the good size for a man. And less bulked than a micky mouse 40. Looks beautiful the 36.
make the 40 go away. the 36 wears like a 40 and has for 70 years. Don't Breitling my Rolex
I think the overall balance and proportion on the 40 just look... off
Vincent Mauron I think it’s excellent. Just too big. The Romans on the 40 are magnificent
They need to ditch the 40mm it now looks clunky and disproportioned. 36mm all the way!
พูดพาษาต่างประเทศเราก็ฟังไม่ออก แล้วเราจะสั่งซื้อยังครับ
I think the 40 is too big for what the day date represents. The 36 is classy and humble enough without being big and boisterous.

I wish that they used the presidential bracelet on the submariner
RebeenAmin1980 are you out of your mind?
No such thing as a Presidential...just President son
Bigger is better. Black dial would be awesome.

False. We've been in business for 8 years and haven't bought or sold a single fake watch.
Wacharin Magmi you sound stupid

I like the older Rolex
