    Eggo aged himself up in order to appear like a normal, welcoming dad to mr labrador retriever. Because why would your dad look like he's the same age as you? Or any other age than 'dad' age, even if he was actually an alien. Even during battle, he remained looking old because he believed that it would make his retriever son return back to him.

      or maybe he age because he was busy finding Peter, he said that if he not return to the planet the human Ego would die. And probably Peter has the connection to the light, Peter might as well draining Ego's own power..

    I imagine Ego aged himself up to appeal more to Peter as a father figure. I doubt Peter would be as accommodating of Ego appeared to be the same age as him.

    • @benzaiten933
      @benzaiten933 7 лет назад +67

      yeah, I think Ego also confirmed this. When Peter shoot him after finding out Ego put the brain tumor in his mother's head Ego briefly transformed into David Hasslehof and said he tried hard to find a form which Peter would like (paraphrased). so he simply tried to look fatherly to fool Peter more easily and of course Peter wouldn't be so easy to trust Ego if they looked about the same age.

    • @Flatlower
      @Flatlower 7 лет назад +20

      That's what Ego said he made himself look the like father peter wanted. Op needs to rewatch the movie.

    • @TheRealNormanBates

      Chuck: well maybe mister wormuloid is an alien who is not fluent in all Earth languages, and the version of GOTG v2 did not have sub-tit les* connected to the float screen to translate the language for him.
      * Wormuloid can correct me if I am wrong, but Sub-tits in his time line would be lowly sub-humanoid creatures formerly known as law-yurs who now hold the occupation of describing every tiny thing that happens on a float screen, even if you can see and understand what is happening on your own. Since Wormuloid's race is kind, generous and condescending towards long dead alien races, they have decided to call all sub-tits "les" as a humanizing gesture, like naming your labia "mingy" or your asshole "gary". God, do I hate Gary.

    • @TulilaSalome
      @TulilaSalome 7 лет назад +5

      Frankly I thought of it as giant testicle - but it may be because a lot of the visuals for Ego's planet and the ship is borrowed from those testicle-obsessed European (mostly French) new wave comic artists of the 70's-ish like Jodorowsky and Moebius. And beautifully borrowed!

    • @AnimePlaysMinecraft
      @AnimePlaysMinecraft 7 лет назад +3

      I'm sure the ship is an egg. White overall, yellow, yolk-like door ways. I'd say that if Ego, the male, is the sperm then of course the ship he rides around in is similar to an egg.

    • @DoctorZisIN
      @DoctorZisIN 7 лет назад +1

      Not only it's an EGG but the back view as it approaches the planet is right out of this iconic 1980 movie:

    12:20 area of the video
    As an old Game Theory fan, I'm happy to support you on this platform and realize it will inevitably change over time. I will also say I was part of the group that praised "old Game Theory" over some of the newer ones. As of late, it has gotten better, but I think what the majority of fans mean by saying "old Theory is better" isn't the slow edits, cringey sound etc. which seems to come to your mind whenever the complaint is mentioned. It has more to do with the entertainment vs. educational time proportions. For a while, *too* *much* time was spent being "funny" instead of hey this is what I thought and why and here is my evidence and here are the equations that I used and why they apply/where they come from. The older "diet theories" had to pack a lot of information really fast, while newer theories are longer and have more time to flesh out the specifics of your discovery process but instead feel like they just pile on a lot more jokes and game lore. Which, as I said, I am a big fan of your platform and your videos, but the main draw for me wasn't the puns and jokes, and I appreciate a little less of them. If you read this, let me know if that is *your* reason for missing "old Game Theory"

    I really wanted more of a comment on whether or not Ego was justified in his goals. Just as the life of an ant means nothing to a human, what does the life of sentient beings mean to a being as powerful as Ego? You'll notice in the movie that Quill has no qualm with Ego's plan at first, and it is only when Ego mentions killing Quill's mother that Quill attacks him. When shown the vastness of the universe and the perspective of a more powerful being, Starlord was all for his father's plan; only the apathy towards his mother made him angry at his father. I believe saving the universe was just an excuse for Quill, and his only motivation in killing Ego was avenging his mother.

      +Listen buddy,
      The film is intended as an action/comedy though. Ya'know, like Deadpool-- which the plot also isn't furthered by jokes because that's not how it works....

    • @TheCNotes1
      @TheCNotes1 7 лет назад +16

      +Johnny Blaze But Deadpool excellently used crude humor, pop culture jokes, and fourth wall breaking, which are pillars of the Deadpool comics, while staying true to the characters at their core. GotG Vol 2 is going for every cheap laugh they can, while also ruining the characters they've already established. A great example of this would be Drax.

      +Listen buddy, I'm sensing a failed attempt at criticism.

    • @cmiller1515
      @cmiller1515 7 лет назад +6

      Johnny Blaze I agree with +TheCnotes1, what made deadpool wasn't just the jokes, it was the characters, it was the genius comedy, and even the basic plot. With guardians 2, I don't feel the same thing. When I watch it, i feel like I'm watching a CGI mess held together by a simple plot (and yea, dead pool did have a simple plot, but it felt natural, whereas guardians felt more forced to get the characters from point A to point B) and characters that aren't true to the original movie. And not just that, but as mentioned before, it's topped off my forced jokes that are basically the minimum effort of comedy to make the audience laugh. The reason they tried so hard to make it funny is because they knew the original did so well because of its comedy, and when they tried to replicate that, it sorta fell apart. So in a way, it's basically a mediocre version of guardians 1
      Side note: I must admit though, saying "jokes furthering the plot" doesn't make too much sense. What I meant was like jokes that are built into the plot and don't go out of their way to say the punch line.

    Holy crap; if Ego activated his seeds on HALF the planets in the known Galaxy, then by doing that, he WOULD have enough power to complete the other half.
    Why didn't I ever think of that?
    In essence, he only needs Peter so that the plot can happen.

    Peter is half celestial. He nearly froze in space in the first movie. There was no need for Yondu to sacrifice himself for Peter. Peter could have survived the same scenario a second time.
