- The day of Pentecost brought the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to pour out the Holy Spirit upon His church. But this watershed moment also fulfilled an ancient prophecy that God revealed in the Old Testament. Whereas the Holy Spirit formerly anointed prophets, priests, and kings to fulfill their unique roles in history, the day had finally arrived when God would empower all of His people for ministry. In this message, R.C. Sproul examines the significance of Pentecost in the history of redemption and its relevance for Christians today.

“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
The Lord has kept His promise
Glory be to God
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”
John14:16-17
" the day had finally arrived when God would empower all of His people for ministry. " AMEN!❤
Beautiful expository 👍❤️
One of the things I've learned from this lesson is how every event in the Bible is not only written for us as historical record, but is connected to another event often centuries later, to show us that only GOD could be behind it.
A blessed teaching from the Holy scriptures.
Thanks be to the Almighty
“ then Moses said to him ‘ are you zealous for my sake? Oh that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them “
Numbers11:29
Amen
“And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.
And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.”
Numbers11: 16-17

The Promise of the New Covenant realized. This is what makes the New better than the Old. I thought he would include Luke 24:49. This was the promise of the Father.

Today we have people who call themselves Charismatics who refuse to follow what the Bible actually says about those gifts. Certain spirituall gifts were limited and temporary. We don't have Christianns running around raising the dead all over the place in the Bible.. in fact that's so rare when it happens its shocking. Instant, complete healing was not something every Christian could do either. The office of prophet is an Old Testament office and ended with Jesus cousin John.
Pentecost is a Hebrew feast called Shavuot (Exodus 34:22, Deut 16:10, Lev 23:16). During that day, believers gather and do no work. It is a holy convocation. It is a high Sabbath. Christians are taught that Sabbath no longer applies as Jesus had done it all for us according to them and yet had the disciples did not obey this Feast command, they would not have received the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:1.
🔥🐍🔥 1 Corinthians 13:8-10 King James Version
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
1 Corinthians 14:27-28 King James Version
27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
Most of them were not actually believers though same is true today the true believers have always been the remnant, the minority.
