The loss of a pet is so hard. Sometimes it feels like people can't understand how deeply hard it is, and they think it should be easier to get over than if you had lost a person but it really is one of the hardest things. It breaks my heart that you lost your soul dog. I have my soul dog still with me and the love and connection I have with her can't even be put into words, and the only people who could understand are other people who have had a soul connection with their dog. I lost my family dog last year however, and it was absolutely devastating. I still have many days of grief over it. I totally understand the pain that comes with this and girl, I would not be putting on a smile and posting youtube videos either!!!!! But youre so strong for working through this and for even coming to youtube with an explanation. I am so sorry for your losses and I hope that you can find peace with what has happened

my grandma passed away recently too and it spiraled me into one of the darkest and scariest moments of my life. she was admitted to the hospital and intubated on my birthday and passed away a short two days later. it marked 5 months on the 17th. these last few months have been the hardest and the pain of losing her has not gotten any easier, but my heart is at peace and full of gratitude because I was blessed to be influenced by her and learn to love and treat others with kindness. my grandma was the pillar of my family and instilled all our morals and values. she sacrificed so much and poured love and faith into any person she met. and even though she is no longer here, I feel her love guiding me. I am so sorry for your loss and I send you and your family the biggest and warmest hug. Grief can be so weird and overwhelming but just hold on to those beautiful memories. much love

I am so sorry for your losses… it is so hard to lose family members and pets… my cat, whom I‘ve had for almost 20 years, had to be put down during lockdown in 2020. I was alone at the vet with him and it was just so hard and I have been crying for days. I still have the clothes I wore to the vet that day because it has his fur on it and I just cannot bring myself to wash them. Please stay strong and I promise you, it will get easier as time passes and you will still love your dog as much as ever. Take the break you need, Suzie!

I completely relate to the pain you are feeling. My mom was very young when she had me and my grandmother was a second mother to me. 2 weeks after I gave birth to my first child and her first great grandchild, she passed away of cancer. I was lucky enough to drive the 4 hours to get to her before she lost consciousness and she was able to meet my daughter. She held her hand over my daughter's head and gasped the word "beautiful". That was her last word. I struggled immensely between the happiness of having my daughter and losing one of the closest people to me in my life. I also lost my stepfather who raised me with my mom starting at age 4. He passed very suddenly and we had to make the decision to remove him from life support. I'm still struggling 5 years later. And 6 months after losing my dad, my 6 year old German shepherd died of cancer. She passed away after a major seizure in the back of our van, in my lap, on the way to the emergency vet. I will be keeping you in my heart and praying you feel some relief sooner rather than later. Sending huge hugs 😊

the pain of losing someone close to you is really hard. Even after 2 years of my grandpa's passing I still grieve and cry, he was the father I never had. I learned to accept that he is no longer around physically but I believe he is here spiritually (in my culture we believe that dreams are a way of communication for passed loved ones). You'll never stop grieving but you will learn to accept it and laugh at the moments you had with them instead of feeling sad

I had a similar time when my family’s dog passed away. She had been sick; I took her for a walk the day before and she got down the street and wouldn’t walk any further, so I had to carry her home (beagle). She’d been in my bed most nights, and we were really close. She was put down the next day and seeing her like that was traumatising. I now have a cat who was a stray who came to our door as a kitten one night; she’s more like an emotional support animal to me than anything else, and reminds me so much of my dog from years ago. Losing anyone you love, whether a pet or a grandparent, isn’t easy.

I am so so sorry for your loss Susie. I completely understand how devastating the loss of a pet can be. They are a part of our family just as much as a human is. I just lost my bunny 2 weeks ago. I truly saw her as my first baby. It was a once in a life time kind of bond I cannot even put into words how much I loved her and how much she changed my life in so many magical ways. Lots of people try to invalidate the loss of a pet, but the way I look at it, it just means we were one of the people fortunate enough to have such a beautiful bond that not everyone has a chance to experience in their life. Crying right there with you Susie.

im so sorry for your loss, losing someone as influential and special as your grandma is a gut-wrenching, but to lose your dog Jazzy so soon after would have been beyond devastating. I've been thru both, my sweet grandma's bday was 2 days after mine and we were cut from the same cloth, losing her was losing part of myself. And losing my dog Evie left me suicidal, pets provide us with a sacred connection without a single word. I can't imagine experiencing so much pain at once. I hope you are managing, but it's okay if you're not. the multiple layers of feelings that grief contains is like running a marathon with no energy, take all the time of you need angel. sending you so much love.

Susie, thank you so much for sharing! Although what any of us say will not take away the hurt and the grief, there is some solace in knowing that you are not alone. I have experienced something very similar - where you lose people close to you and then your dog is taken from you as well. My dog was my heart, and you're right - it broke me. I too looked into cloning, as crazy as it sounds. But I realized at the end of the day that just because the dog would look exactly like him...it wouldn't be him. I keep his collar by my bed. I will never forget him. We are so so blessed to have received their love and devotion.

Crying and taking the time to grieve is very therapeutic and important. I have found that when you numb your emotions through the grieving process, then you actually extend the grieve and it also intensifies. So, take your time and cry often.
By the way, we put our dog down in 2016 and we still cry over him. Our pets never leave our hearts. Your video brought me to tears thinking about him.

I know how it is to struggle with depression and then loose a grandma. I was in the same place a couple years ago. You are fighting with grief and on top of that there is this wall this mist of depression and it's getting stronger and you're getting more overwhelmed. It gets better, getting professional help and the support of my friend helped a lot. Remember to take time and don't run away form the emotions. They are hard but it will pass.

Aww girl. Grief suuuuuuucks. Thank you for your honesty. We need to tall about it more in our society. It will never fully "pass". There is no getting over it. It is just something that changes you and continues forever. Someone told me (about losing my mom) "it never stops hurting, it just hurts less often." It's pretty true. Even your pup. I fear I had my soul mate dog early/young as well and will forever be comparing future pups to her. I love then too, but it's just not the same 🥺 Love to you and your family and positive healing vibes being sent your way!

I understand, as a 21 yr old who has lost 7 family members and my beautiful cat of 10 years who was literally my baby. Take all the time you need, time heals all wounds, you will be ok. I've gotten terrible advice on how grieving is. Just know it does get better, you still have people you love and people who love you, I believe in you. Right now it feels impossible to do anything, the feeling will fade, it's hard moving on but once you finally realize how to, you will feel better. You'll begin to think of your lost ones in a happy way rather than being sad every time.

I grew up with my dog since I was a baby he died when I was 11 years old. At first it was really painful. But then a miracle happened and one year later we took in a 1 year old dog we’ve been taking care of bc sadly the owner was rly old and passed. Today we make jokes and laugh about our old dog. he will always be in our memories. This shows that it does get better when I think of him now(old dog) it’s only happy memories.
All tough I am too scared that my other dog(she’s 11) will pass in the next years
You got this Susie!! Thank you for opening up❤️ your grandma is so proud of you for sharing, you have no idea how much you’ve helped me with my mental health regarding multiple things!! You’re a sunshine

Sending so so so much love to you. I have been fortunate enough to not lose anyone close to me, but I did lose my first two dogs that I grew up with within a year of each other, and the amount of pain and grief that comes from that is unimaginable. Even though it was 3-4 years ago now, I still get caught off guard from the lingering grief from that, and I still will randomly start crying thinking about them. Take all the time you need to recover and don't ever feel rushed to come back. I do truly believe that you can never replace your soul pet, but I've gotten more pets now that I love so dearly and they truly have helped me immensely with my mental health and sort of getting over the loss of my first two babies. It did take quite a while for me to be able to adopt them, but they really have helped me so much. I love you and I hope you are feeling better. ❤️

I am so sorry to hear of your losses Susie.. Sending you love and strength. My grandma was my second mother and we were very close. she taught me how to cook and fostered my “food is love” mentality. I was at her house every day growing up and we even worked as colleagues in the same hospital when I started as a PA. we were best friends and she confided in me, which made our relationship so special. when she passed away in October my whole life felt upside down. I was starting a new job and she was on home hospice so we had to help her pass. it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. i couldn’t even imagine losing my dog as well as her in the same time, i feel the same way about my Maggie as you do your Jazzy ❤️ it’s good that you are taking care of yourself and your mental health. It seems impossible but every day that passes you will heal a little more, carrying their memories with you forever. I have been sleeping with my grams robe every night since she passed and I have one of her many aprons I wear to cook. Hoping that you and your family keep your beautiful memories of her close to you, and that your grieving is brief. She helped make a fabulous person and we are all here to support you in this hard time ❤️

So sorry to hear. My Grandma was one of my best friends. We cooked together, did puzzles, crosswords, games, occasional shopping (when she was more mobile), and she was my safe place. I lost her September 2022(not to Covid, thankfully). I still miss her. I have a box of things I still can't go through because I want to keep her smell around as long as I can. Grief is a weird thing. Some of it manifests in things that society recognizes, but so much of it is random. Sometimes you think you're getting over the worst of it, then a weird thing like almost buying their favorite thing (out of habit), will catch you off guard. I empathize with a lot of what you're talking about. I had a mental break a month after I lost her-there was a lot going on, and I just couldn't keep up with it mentally or emotionally. I'm so grateful for having a therapist that was so supportive and wonderful-helped me through it. Please be kind to yourself. Give yourself self-care, love, understanding, and patience. It's okay to not be okay. Even when people think you "should" be. Please don't let people dictate your healing. Like Bethan said, it does get easier, but it doesn't leave. I'm also so so sorry you lost your dog as well-they are such beautiful safe places of pure love. They are a part of your heart and soul, and losing them is devastating. I am so sorry you were in a place of extreme depression and grief. Wishing you love, healing, and the time and help you need to get through this dark time. Love you!

the first loss ive ever experienced that completely changed my world was also losing my grandmother 3 years ago this september. i was one week away from traveling to see her bc we all thought she was getting better but instead i woke up one morning and we had lost her. i wasn’t able to see or speak to her for months prior to her passing due to her being in and out of comas and i lived across the US. i believe i was closer to her and my grandpa more than my own parents. my grandparents are my best friends and when i lost my grandma i lost a part of myself. i dream and think about her every day and night and even get signs from her that she’s still with me. i talk to her in my dreams and i’m so relieved i can still remember her voice perfectly. each time i visit home i make sure to visit her stone and talk to her everytime i visit and leave home. you never stop grieving but day by day it will just be a little easier to remind yourself they’re no longer in pain and they’re never really gone. 💗

I’m so so sorry Susie. Within 5 months I lost the man who raised me, a dear friend, and one of the women who raised me. Grief is the hardest thing ever. My favorite way to explain grief to people who’ve never experienced it is; imagine you have a shoe box. Inside the box is a button. The button is the grief and when you first have the box, the button is so big it takes up the whole box. There is a ball inside the box that never stops rolling around. Every time the button gets hit is when the grief hits. Over time the ball will get smaller, but it will never stop moving or hitting the button. It just happens less over time. People don’t “move on”. We move forward with our lost loved ones in hour hearts! Let the feelings out. It may feel like the pain will never go away and over time the pain just gets smaller. It’s been 2 years and every once in awhile I have an “auntie day”. And I just do what my body needs. Cry, sleep, yell, talk nonstop, relax in a bath, etc… have your day when it comes. Sorry for how long this is. You will get through it, one day at a time. Some days an hour at a time. Remember you are so beyond loved! 💜

I'm so sorry you've been through and still is going through a tornado of loss and grief. My heart goes out to you. I lost my grandma pretty suddenly and like yourself, I didn't get to see her before she was gone and she was my everything as well. As for your little doggie, she's your little defender. I believe pets, when you truly love and connect with them, they become the guardians of our hearts and souls. That's why they are so precious. No verbal language needed. They know you and you know them too. I remember when the first cat I ever had passed, it was such a shock. Unlike you, Pepper being my first pet ever, I was ignorant about how to take care of cats. So when she fell ill, I didn't recognise the signs. Even when I brought her to the vet, it did not register that she was that seriously ill. A few days later, I lost her. I remember after leaving the clinic, I threw up right at the carpark.it was traumatic af. Now, years later, I have learnt to accept losses much better (2 grandparents and 6 cats over the past 5 years does years does teach you quite a bit about love and loss), I am always going to be sp so grateful for the cats that have passed with me being there with them, holding them and assuring them that they are so loved, and its ok to let go, as they took their last breath. I'm not saying I'm OK. I'm probably never going to be ok. But I hope you'll find peace in all your loss soon. Because the way I see it now is that we should be so grateful for them being in our lives. So privileged that we have met and so lucky to have had them in our lives however brief it might have been. Everyday, I looks at the people and animals I love, and I'm thankful for one more day with them. I truly hope you'll feel so much better soon Susie. And I'm so honoured that you are sharing such a vulnerable side of you with us. Take care.
