5 years ago a female coworker asked me… “you wear shorts with that size of legs and butt?” (I’m what i think it is a us size 16 with a really latina body) and my response was… “duh… of course, it’s summer and why i wouldn’t show my goodies”. So watching you makes me feel happy that not everybody is searching for the ig body (really toxic trend). My advice is, always take care of yourself so can enjoy your body and life. I have worn different sizes throughout my life. I was overweight when I was a child, and then I have been put on a diet, since then I have never had a relaxed approach with food. Years ago I have left my country and I lost weight without dieting (which was amazing for once), I was about 52 KG 1.64 cm and I have been told I was too skinny. My weight increased and I reached about 58/60 up until 2020 when my weight...reached 68 LOL... I'm now dieting, my nutritionist (biologist and nutritionist) told me that most of the weight was due to bloat, I went through (and I'm still going through) a stressful period, I carry on other signs of somatoform stress like acute dermatitis, fatigue, sensory overload, anxiety. People are now saying that I look bloated, that I have changed... when I was 'too skinny' I guess I was size 8/10 now 12/14... I know for a fact that this body shape I'm in right now it's due to the CPTSD I'm experiencing... if you like yourself, do not listen to others...

This video made me cry? I lost 36kgs and developed anorexia on the way which has been ruling my life for 4 years. I wish I heard this advice years ago. I was so happy when I was chubbier. Honestly, I didn't have a care in the world. Then it took 1 doctor and the tiny girls I followed on Instagram to spark my weight loss 'journey' which has been detrimental to my mental wellbeing. Getting to your goal weight doesn't equal happiness (not for me anyways). You just set a new number new things about yourself to 'fix' when really you're perfect just the way you are. Thank you for this video Susie. You have such an important role on social media, especially for your younger, more impressionable followers who need someone to look up to. honestly it's like when people see celebrities wearing sweats and doing the bare minimum with their outfits they call them "fashionable" or able to pull anything off just because they have a skinny figure, are famous and are rich, but when someone from a different size wears the exact same thing they are called "lazy" and "not even trying". plus sizes are already hard enough to find as it is I don't think oversized people or anyone of any size needs anyone telling them "when your this body shape you can wear this" or need to look at posts saying "outfits for when I'm skinny". just my opinion, and before I get attacked just wanted to say that I'm not blaming anyone or referring to anyone in particular this is just my opinion and what I think is happening around the world. so yeah pls don't come after me.
    P.s all bodies are beautiful

    • @LittleMissMorningstar
      @LittleMissMorningstar 2 года назад +23

I totally agree! I also think normal skinny people get a lot of “is she anorexic” or “she looks like a crack head” especially the second if they are in sweats. We have a false narrative that celebrities are so wonderful and great, so our brains automatically think their beautiful and their clothes are great. We also associate beauty with kindness and stuff even though that’s not really true.
All bodies are beautiful and we shouldn’t care so much what others wear.

I think celebrities get the extremes of judgement on clothes.
Like they wear the basics and it's all "wow what amazing style!!" "so fashionable!" "new trend!"(as if no ones worn a white shirt tucked in jeans before)
But then they wear something that shows a bra strap and it's all "what a sl*t" "is she looking for a new man?" "is she cheating on her bf?" "super inappropriate for a mother" etc etc
or any clothes which don't flatter the stomach they start going
"is X pregnant?" "who is Xs babby daddy?"
and it's like, the hell is this??

I think a big problem also is that many of this outfits are only seen as beautiful because of the body wearing them. I saw a video about this topic called "is it an outfit or is she just skinny?" and it's true - you can wear an outfit because you think the clothes are looking good or you can wear an outfit because you think the clothes make YOU look good. Doesn't necessarily mean you like the clothes, just what they are doing for you and I've also seen this on myself too. Even if I don't really like the colour or the style of a piece, if it makes me look skinny or shows off my body in a flattering way I'll probably wear it even tho I don't actually like it

    • @joylox
      @joylox 2 года назад +14

Yes, clothes should be made for you, not that you should change to fit clothes. I've been learning how to make my own stuff, and it makes a huge difference since I actually can make things for me and my unpopular body shape that won't fit into most mainstream clothes (like physically I don't fit, mostly my shoulders), but when I have stuff that fits right, I don't notice how wide my shoulders are because I can still move my arms and do what I want to, and I can make pants long enough for my legs so I don't feel insecure about stuff being too short. I know people with the opposite problems, and even a simple tweak like taking something in a bit in the right places can make a huge difference!

I’m in my thirties now and still coming to terms with accepting my body and loving it for all the amazing things it does to keep me healthy. Love your vids ❤️❤️

I've given up on shorts (I have to wear compression socks which aren't always the nicest), but discovered that baggy pants in a thin fabric are amazing for warmer weather! Most are too short, but I plan to buy a bolt of thin cotton fabric and make a bunch, then dye them. So for those who may not feel comfortable in shorts, those baggier pants styles are great, and often have elastic so they fit better.

    I love your message!
When I was midsize I thought I was fat and I hated how I looked so I dieted myself into being overweight by ruining my metabolism with calorie reduction diets and exercising and then I got really depressed and gorged myself into obesity. It’s taken me genuinely accepting my body to be able to get healthier. I’m still overweight but I’m so much happier with myself than I was when I was midsize. I wish I could’ve learned this earlier but it took me actually living it. I hope it won’t take that for anyone who reads this. If you hate your weight when you’re midsize… honey, you don’t know what fat is but if you continue self hating you’ll find out! Good luck!
P.S. Deodorant doesn’t work as anti chaffe balm but you can buy them in Walgreens or cvs. It is cheaper to do it at home though by using coconut oil and starch. Just mix those two until when it’s rubbed in it feels like velvet on the skin, usually 2 parts starch and 1 part oil. I love it because it smells great and makes my skin so soft!

Thank you Suzie. I'm an aussie 12, 40 years old, had birth 5 children naturally and breastfed all of them.
I was upset with my weight as I'm usually an 8 or 10. But recently I have been having a change in attitude. I don't like looking in the mirror because I feel smaller in my head than I am in the mirror.
Because I am learning to love and thank my body for being so amazing I have started wearing things like cropped tops and tights and it's helping me feel even better.
Punishing myself by refusing to buy a few new bras that fit me just made me feel worse; since buying nice new bras I am happier with how I look.
I realized I can't get healthy if my mind harbours the sickness of disappointment or rejection of my bodies appearance.

I absolutely love this video and you look amazing in everything!! I remember at the beginning of the very first lockdown I bought loads of new clothes that I loved but were around 2 sizes too small - I used them as a goal by telling myself that I could finally wear them when I was 'skinny'. Fast forward to around 6 months later, I had lost 10kg and could finally fit into all these beautiful clothes. After putting them on, I realised that I still didn't like the way I looked in them and I began to pick out even more flaws in myself and reasons that I couldn't wear them. This is when I realised that it's not my weight that I need to 'fix', but that I need to work on my mindset instead. Ever since then I've just been wearing what I want and trying to ignore these negative thoughts I have about myself and my body, because at the end of the day, self-love is one of the most important things!

The thing is: people wish they would look like these girls on Pinterest, but even IF they’d loose weight, they probably wouldn’t look like these women, because they have very particular body proportions, which are very rare. When I was younger I always wanted to look like these girls, too, but this is never gonna happen, cause I am a completely body different type…so girls: try to learn how to like the way u look and maybe also search for people who already look a bit like you!

I feel like one thing that often isn't acknowledged in this conversation or something these people might not even be aware of is that a lot of the stuff on these inspo boards could be stuff that genuinely doesn't look good on these people, but not because of their weight, but because of their body type. Certain cuts flatter some body shapes more than others and the tricky thing is finding stuff that actually accentuates your body in a way you like, no matter your weight. There's a lot of aesthetics I absolutely adore that just never looked good on me, not now and not when I was skinnier.

My "out of the box" fashion moment was wearing a crop top. I took the risk and wore one with sweats and a flannel, and it changed my life cause I looked *chefs kiss* and now I wear sweatpants and crop tops out of the house on a regular basis. I'm no longer "scared" of having the shape of my belly show (size US 14). Like we all have em, they exist. I feel cute as heck and I'm comfy. I still got other things I'm working on, but that was my main thing this year.

I’ve also seen a trend called “Is it a ‘fit or is she just skinny?” But I just think that people should just wear what they want and what they think looks good on them. We all have different styles so the ‘fit might be for some people and not others. No hate for anyone or what they wear, no matter their body shape.

First of all: Love this video! Second: not sure what shipping from Hollister is like for you in Australia but in the UK they do a range called Hollister curve, for people with wider hips compared to waist ratio, and with thicker thighs. I get all my jeans, denim shorts and skirts from there now as they actually fit without me having to get the size up so they fit my thighs and having a big gap on my waist! So if anyone is looking for shorts, jeans or skirts recommendation for thicker thighs, would highly recommend :) love you Susie you’re just fab x

Omg, Free People’s CRVY Vintage style Shorts are a dream! The CRVY line is perfect for babes with a bigger hip to waist ratio (no gaping waistline) and have a little stretch to them so they more comfortable. My sister is a personal trainer (tinier waist and bigger hips/bum) and she LOVES them, and they are slightly longer in the back so it’s a little more modest. FP’s whole CRVY line is honesty super comfy and there’s more styles there too.

I can't explain to you how badly I needed this video. I used you as an inspiration when I was heavier (a US size 16 due to excessive drinking and depression) to remind myself that you don't have to be rail thin to be beautiful. I admire your confidence and you are helping me now battle my eating disorder. I know that isn't what you signed up for, but it is so nice to see my body type represented in a positive way because we are HOT and I'm sick of being told otherwise. 😅 Not only that, but the normalization of body types that aren't dangerously underweight is incredibly important. Seeing you wear these styles that I desperately want to emulate and look flawless doing it makes me feel way better about myself and inspires me to wear exactly what I want to wear and make it work for myself. Thank you. 💜

Yep, want to loose weight but I'm not like "I'll do this or I'll wear this when I loose weight". Too old to be mad and hating myself all the time. So it's really awesome at 21 that you're a that point, never leave that and never forget it. You are beautiful and enough the way you are if you are in a larger body or smaller body.

Thank you so much for this, i really needed it.
I’ve had muscly calves since I was young and they’ve been my biggest insecurity. Up until my early 20s i never wore anything short, following rude comments and resulting self confidence issues. This past year I slowly started coming out of my shell wearing whatever made me feel good and finally started wearing skirts (which i LOVE) but the other day a new coworker pointed out my “huge calves” and I immediately felt so embarrassed, searched “calf reduction surgery” and stopped wearing skirts. Watching this and your mindset on this has helped me realise that all of that doesn’t matter and you’ve given me confidence just to say screw you all and wear whatever i want, muscly calves and all. Thanks again, really made a difference in my life.

I know this is late but that would be such a cute outfit! I’m sorry you get shamed for your body and hope everything is going well

I miss being skinny. I am working on myself to get down to a healthy size I had let go of myself.

clickbait title considering most viewers will think you mean american size 14 which is a size XL when in reality you're a 10 in american sizing which is a medium. you can still wear practically any outfit you want at your size whereas people who are actually plus size truly can't fit these outfits appropriately

anything over 8 is considered plus size. You don't have to be so bitter about it, gosh. Stop invalidating 12/14/16 size because they are not your view of "plus size".

@@witchingbrew3 12-16 IS plus size in u.s. sizing but not australia. she is an australia 14, u.s. 10 which is a medium. she's not even plus size and she's doing this video as if she is one of those overweight people who wouldn't be able to fit these "outfits i'll wear when im skinny" when that's clearly not true
