Well i do not like those gray shorts, they seem oddly cut and sort of give you a bit more tummy than you have without them? That top looks great, but that coat.. that is definitely stylish and perfect for you 🤍🧡🤎🖤
I’m a personal stylist based in Milan and the first thing that surprised me that none of them asked for a portrait & full size picture from you! Your seasonal tones and body type really matters… dressing someone in all black is quite basic to me, there are so many nice neutrals out there that would have been amazing on your spring characteristics 💕
@@AnnaHeey that's true, however I usually ask for a high quality close up picture to see the exact tones of the eyes, skin and hair. Videocameras can be tricky especially on a Zoon quality call. I definitely think the more expensive stylist was pretty much on point with the preparation with all the extra questions, everyone has different ways to consult, but I believe it would have been very useful to her to have the mentioned pictures.
@@unicornL that's actually a great level to start from! 😊 I know it feels like being in a dark room looking for an exit, but once you learn the basics, you can actually start enjoying the rest of the game! I talk about styling on my channel, I'd love to have you there! And if you want to make another step towards your signature style, I also have an Etsy shop with lots of printables, guides and workbooks. 😊💕
I thought about the same, how would you know how to match the colour temperature and tint. without knowing the sikin/eyes/hair colour compared to a true white background. And not even mention the bodytype and proportion of legs/torso and arms. I almost miss being a personal shopper/stylist/designer. Have a great weekend Edited spelling, thanks for the help :)
As a stylist, I feel like both of them are based more on trend and on their personal tastes. The part where they missed was knowing you deeper, especially the lifestyle you're living. Laso, if there was another consultation where they show you the direction they are going, they most probably land perfectly on the brief.
well as luck would have it, I am currently taking outfit submission for a "Subscribers Dress Me for a Week" video !!! Click the google forms link for more information + submit your look !! forms.gle/z7d8AFRJ9CW4e41j9
I worked as a stylist and sales associate in a fashion store and im suprised that they didnt look at your body type and color complections that well. its the basic of styling someone individually and what makes the outfit work
After watching this and seeing actual stylist recommendations, I think my style definition is “I want to be able to go to the market without scaring anyone or being laughed at.”
I love how both stylists gave you one "late 90's goth chick who watched The Matrix a week ago and now tells everyone at the club about the unreliability of reality" outfit, like it's the most common aesthetic
The number 2 outfit, from the $200 stylist is fantastic on you! The one with the olive green sweetheart neckline, the chocolate coloured pants and wonderful cream coat! I’m a bit sad that I waited so long to watch it, because now you have sent it all back. It looks so elegant and classic on you!
Yes, that might be the outfit that suits her colouring the best. Although I could be letting my own bias get the better of me, because I love to wear greens and browns. I don't own any white and beige is the lightest I go, both because whites and creams often make me look ill, and because I'm a klutz who will spill tea on myself at least twice a week! 😅
@@Ellbat May I ask where you got the 3 things from? they look so beautiful and suit you so well❤️ I can't let go of the green top and try to look for it but I just can't find it🥺
When you watch this, you can even see how fast your demeanour changes with which ones you feel confident in and the ones you don't! Your back straightens, your shoulders go back. Your entire posture just expands and it's absolutely bangin' to see that shift back and forth. The outfits you hate, you can see you hunch or lean forward and draw your shoulders in, etc. Trust your gut! I'll be honest, I love fashion too, and you diss your fashion choices way too much. You clearly have a REALLY good sense of what's fashionable and not, based on just the comments you made trying on the outfits. They were the same thoughts I had. Again, trust yourself more! Fashion is about confidence, there's no rules. If you THINK you look fantastic, you do. People notice confidence and posture, not patterns and colours! You got this!
As a fashion designer, I was appalled by most of these outfits. Also, for 5000, I am quite certain as an online shopper myself that I could put together 10 outfits or more for that money and get a much more stylish result that is actually minimal and suits your general aesthetic. And these two people actually are professionals... Damn. I might consider a carrier change! If you ever feel like doing a new video, free of charge, about ten looks picked by a fashion designer and subscriber, let me know! lol
Sorry, I thought most of the outfits from the stylists didn't quite work. One outfit with the olive top and brown slacks with jacket and purse was okay, but the combos were not so great. Mix and match were strange.
@@TheWandererDreams I usually try not to critique negatively. However, I commend Elbat for tackling fashion. Hopefully she will find outfits she loves!
@@Spicypoptart1 Tbf I think that may be the reason why it's on sale 😅 typically luxury items on sale are either end of season or previously bought and returned
@@Jeshiae well thats really shit then if it got returned and they just put it back on sale!! Dont they check their stock before they send it, what is this rubbish :D
So the $200 stylist managed two wearable outfits, my grandma's couch, a victorian schoolboy in the matrix, and a poorly dressed hunger games extra. And the $20 stylist had one wearable outfit, some usable pieces, and a hot mess. I think I should just give myself $20 for my own lackluster styling services and call it a day 💀🤣
I have all these pieces except Grandmas curtains and the brown pants I have a burnt orange brown pant & vest. I had this stuff for years. They keep saying new fashions & old stuff revamped . I won’t be cutting the toes out of my boots this year.
While I fully agree than your favorite outfit is STUNNING on you, the second outfit from the 200 $ Stylist can not be ignored, that green looks INCREDIBLE on you.
I just had a stylist transform my wardrobe recently and after that experience, I am not surprised this experiment went the way it did. I was thoroughly assessed regarding body type, colour palette, hue shades and personality. In addition she was very keen on knowing, which "message" I want to give in my outfits. Of course that cost more than 200 pounds - however I have spend less on my new outfits, because she paid attention to capsule wardrobing. She also was precise regarding how my clothes should fit- I love every piece she picked. My feeling watching this video: many styles would have looked much better with a proper fit - but in general the stylists did not have enough information to understand, what the client wants. However, with a budget of 20 and 200, that also is too much to ask.
Tbh, the denim jumpsuit you had on in the beginning looked the most harmonious with your features and coloring. Warmer colors look fantastic on you, plus anything with relaxed and longer lines. Not sure if you've checked into Kitchener's style essences or Kibbe body types, but I'm leaning towards either a natural or dramatic Kibbe ID for you as well as natural, dramatic, and ethereal essences. You need styles that emphasize the vertical, not cut-off pants or shorter skirts. Long and loose pants like the outfit you liked looked fantastic on you, plus the relaxed fit trenchcoat. Loved the olive color top on you, the autumnal colors look fantastic on you, whereas the black seemed a bit draining. That's why the bright pink doesn't work on you, you look better in earthy tones. :)
The expensive stylist was the clear winner for me. She had the right balance between solids, prints, cuts, and texture…she also gave timeless pieces that you can wear years down the line and it would look great (the crème trench 10/10). And the grandma dress…I actually liked lol. I think if you had a high ponytail and swapped the boots out, it would have worked.
I did not like the first "expensive" outfit at all. She looks like she is trying too hard. Those trousers with that shirt? Why? Basic white long sleeve or a white turtleneck with those trousers - yes. Basic black trousers with that top - ok. BUT. Not like this. At least one item should look as if you don't care. This screams "I am trying too hard and I don't know what I am doing". The Valentino coat... Ok. Is it really worth the money? It looks basic for such an expensive item. Better buy some expensive jewellery or an expensive bag... And. This coat would look better on a plus sized woman. The second outfit is fire in theory but the white coat is the only thing that truly makes this outfit look complete. She is not going to wear this coat every time, it's white it's not practical on any level. Once she would try this outfit with a black coat - it won't look as good anymore. The third outfit is GOTH. It looks good on her but only a true rebel would wear this. Number 4 and 5... Also not ideal. I am sorry but I would never wear this west. The dress - also not for everybody (I would rather wear the dress from 5 than the west from 4). Something tells me that a person would either never wear the west or never wear the dress, depending on their character. Can't imagine anyone liking both... I don't know guys... A 200 dollar stylist... Should be better than this.
@@lizvtaz6 idk, i didnt think they were bad, but its definitely not an outfit for the average person or someone who prefers to be comfortable. Seems like outfits for a business woman or something. The cheap stylist just look like they picked random items from shein/fashion nova and put them together
@@basicange Maybe, but I did go to a professional cheap stylist at the age of 19 and she has chosen plenty of the really good outfits for me, also a hairstyle and all of that was wearable. These so called stylists that chose the outfits for this video charged a lot of money for nothing. 5 outfits all hardly wearable? I feel like there is no need to defend those people.
To be fair for 20 dollars they should not have spend more than 1.5 hours on it for 7 looks. Granted it should still also be worth it for the buyer but you can’t expect too much for a low wage
@@megggg a brown tweed or twill gamp would have been STUNNING!!! Women's trousers should be just as elegant and classic as men's trousers. (Trousers are what go with suits.)
That Valentino coat is EVERYTHING! I think the outfits by $200 stylist are more editorial whereas the cheaper stylist is more “normal” everyday outfits.
@@Czadzikable that’s not how fashion works. Each clothing piece means something. I know you’re thinking mostly practically. But a leather jacket being an option for a jacket doesn’t make it a good replacement.
Dude, I was SHOCKED at how bad almost all of these were. 😂 These are professional stylists with careers???? The only outfits that truly fit the brief and looked good we’re outfits 2 and 4 from the $200 stylist. I couldn’t believe how off-brief the rest were. Also, I don’t think any personal stylist would be worth their salt if they didn’t take into account your color season and Kibbe body type. Hands down.
I think that the stylists ‘failed’ with some of the outfits because they didn’t take into account a) your body type and b) the colors that look best on you. It would be really cool if you asked an image consultant to do a body type analysis and a color analysis! You could then revisit these outfits
Correct me if I am seeing it wrong but she definitely does NOT have an hourglass shape - much more like a pear-shaped body cause she is more petite on the top and much more full on the bottom. Maybe that´s one of the reasons as well.
You’re 100% right, an image consultant who knows about kibbe or style essence could work wonders for her. Kibbe is more expansive then the fruit body types too. Majority of the clothes she wore looked they were wearing her. She’s not that angular, and is quite soft/fleshy.
I think it's a complete joke that both of them dare to call themselves stylists. The styles did not at all resemble what she asked for, amd like you said is so true the colors and bodytype were completely ignored. That defeats completely the purpose of havig a stylist!
I was just going to say that. I had my colors done a few years ago and it changed my life! Just wearing your colors, even if the clothing isn't that great makes you look much better than wearing good quality clothing in the wrong color.
to be fair, you look the best in the expensive stylist outfits! every single outfit just screams sophisticated. i think maybe that's what the stylist understood than us regular consumers lol. but dress number 4 is no go 😅 if you wear enough such outfits, I think you're good to go. and I don't like any of the cheap stylist outfits... it may look like a day to day outfit, easy to style. but it looks like a mess
$200 stylist definitely won this overall. The green shirt outfit + the vest outfit were great. The $20 one wasn't awful but there would be quite a few tweeks to multiple outfits to make them better/more elevated.
The green top outfit from the expensive stylist and the grey vest with the grey pants, the black dress from the cheaper stylist really suited you. I would return everything else.

The vest suit and black dress were divine, everything else was tacky and or too trendy. I actually like your personal style, that denim jumpsuit was killer! Trust yourself. We have similar minimalist styles. I don’t follow trends. I wear what I like, and that makes me feel confident, which is the true hallmark of fashion! Do you, girl!
As a former stylist, I love outfit two, it fits you nicely and the green is great with your eyes! I love the menswear outfit as well, especially without the jacket and with jewelry. The brown/yellow dress is definitely very 'fashiony' as my daughter would say, but not very wearable. I feel like the second stylist went for 'model about town' outfits. I think pieces of it are ok but literally none of it together.
200 stylist. 1. The Valentino coat is stunning. The leather looks butter soft and the drape is exquisite, but I agree that a coat that costs twice one's rent ought to be inspected before shipping. I like the overall look, although I think the top doesn't look very comfortable and is a bit impractical. 6/10. 2. That green sweater is a winner. 100%. The outfit is attractive and has a some sass. It would be better with a belt. 8/10, especially for wearability. (P.S. I think the trousers from the next look might be better with the green sweater.) 3. Initially, I thought the look was well-put together, until you mentioned the brown trousers. Then, all of a sudden, the outfit looked very odd. I'm not such a big fan of the dangling bits. They seem a bit frowsy for most normal situations. The whole look? 5/10. The trousers and the boots? 9/10. 4. Outstanding! The grey looks really well on you, fwiw. I think if you get it tailored, it will be a go to. It looks comfortable, stylish, and fun. I love the way that they top is cut, especially under the arm, because it lies so smoothly! No bra-revealing gaps! 10/10. Initially, I was going to say 9/10, but how much you like it, and how much it expresses your aesthetic bumps it up to 10/10. 5. 100% agree about the color. Also think either the intricate stitching elements OR a patter on the fabric. With both, it does sort of resemble a chair cover chez Granny. Also? With that enormous bow and the way it hangs in the front, it makes it look as though you have a sizable baby bump, which would be fine, if you did have one. 2/10. 20 stylist. 1. The thing I like best about it is the jacket. I think either ripped jeans, or a crop top, but not both. Actually, I don't like the cut of the jeans at all, and I don't like where/how the tears are. The way the top ends on your belly looks a bit like it's an undersized piece that usually connects the front and back in the crotch area. I like the fabric and color, though. 3/10 (because the jacket and top with a better set of trousers could be quite cute. 2. Agree with you 100%. Ditch the jacket. The outfit is banging without it, and looks overdone with it. Without the jacket 10/10. With the jacket 5/10. (And maybe try with the boots from the outfit with the Valentino coat? The boots with this outfit are too shiny. It distracts from the drape of the dress.) And, oh my GOSH that Valentino coat done up may, in fact, be worth two month's rent, if they send you a non-broken version. WIth THAT coat? 20/10. 3. It's an "almost there, but not quite." The fabric and pattern of the skirt are fine. It just drapes strangely. So with you on the boots with no toes. I think the Valentino outfit boots, or the ones from #3 of the other stylist? I give his an E for effort, but a 3/10 for execution. Also? just like that top from #1, the front "tab" is odd-looking and draws my eyes to a pretty random place. Ok. if you insist on including the bag, we are at 1/10. 4. The colors of the top and skirt look very well on you. I like the top quite a lot. The slit on the skirt is an odd length and I think it would be difficult to manage when sitting. So, that needs some tending to. The shoes are stupid. I'm sorry. It's the only word I can find. The bag.... No. So impractical for daytime, anyway, no? Too small. Too fussy. Just the top and skirt? 8/10. And I do think that as a special piece, the top is worth the 250. 5. The neon pink.. Pretty trashy. 0/10.
that matrix trench coat makes this entire rollercoaster worth it tbh, that jacket was truly gorgeous i did like some of the pieces from both stylists, like the knee high boots and the aforementioned godly simulation coat, but the 200 one definitely had an edge imo!
A really cool twist on this idea would be to repeat this BUT have someone help you so you were unaware of which outfits were styled by the more expensive/cheap stylist and guess!! Also the second look from the more expensive stylist was just *chefs kiss* loved loved loved it!!!
I think that ‘being styled’ allowed you to realize that you DO actually have some excellent fashion-sense.. You know what you like, and you have perfectly reasoned it out. Great experiment, and SOMEHOW find a way to keep that Valentino leather coat. Looks like you are in your element when you put it together with the belt. You could wear it for a lifetime! Thanks for doing this very interesting project. Love that econ major irony, hahahaha! You are a hoot!
I loved watching you try on every outfit! I agree with those who are saying “ If you believe you look good, then you will” Fashion is fun, but when someone feels good in an outfit. It definitely shows!! 🙌
Honestly it is exceptionally difficult to figure out your clients style the first time, so you play out a couple of variety choices and you figure it out from there. Sometimes people use classic to describe "traditionally feminine". This is why most celebrities rely on a small team of long-term stylists to really understand and curate around their personal style.
I've done a subscription box once, and I had to give photo examples of what I was looking for, plus choose items from different clothing categories to give an idea of what I like. Plus full body photos from different angles, and measurements of course. Then I got a sort of preview, and I could send feedback about what I liked or disliked and why. And then I got an e-mail with all the items I was going to be sent, and the ability to take out some items and they would swap in something else that I wouldn't be able to approve, so would be a surprise. And it still turned out so bad 😭 I'd told them I like a bit edgy style, I wanted to experiment with more color, and they sent me the most basic stuff, and there was no color in there. I get that it's difficult to get a perfect recommendation without a bit of going back and forth and getting to know your stylist a bit, etc, but I feel like it should be possible to get at least the key points of the brief right 😅
I think the engagement on this vid is working bc I've never heard of you and the only fashion channels I follow are historical recreations, and boy am I glad I watched your vid! Obviously my fave was the cheap stylist outfit #1 bc it was the most wearable, but I think you could rock the two piece suit style everyday!
I am convinced that quite a few of these "stylists" use AI programs to pick outfits for clients because a lot of these I've seen are so left field from what the client said they enjoyed or liked in anyway shape or form. Pinterest does a way better job of helping me find outfits and ideas and giving me suggestions than many of these so called professional stylists.
1. The outfit you picked. Perfect for you. 2. The cream light trench coat looks great on you and would go with a lot. 3. The black trench, esp, when done up is amazing. Yes it looks matrix but also you look bad ass in it. 4. Love the sunglasses on you and they elevated a lot of the looks. 5. All the rest sucked or were just boring or basic or wrong. Everyone else on here saying why didn’t they take your coloring and body shape into consideration is spot on.
outfit #2 from the more expensive stylist was my absolute favourite. 10/10. such a flattering silhouette and the colours looked amazing and classic together 😍 chic and sophisticated but still wearable for everyday things!
First and second outfit you bought from the 200 stylist were so good! That Valentino coat is a BANGER! I even liked the dress of the last outfit, that is indeed what a lot of fashionable +1 guest girls wear to chique parties atm, but the boots and the bag made it look weird without the coat on. Look 3 was all over the place imho. That stylist did a rather good job
Beside from look one in the look book from the cheaper stylist (except the shoe...) , I was honestly so underwhelmed. It felt like very little consideration was actually taken into your requests which sucks since one of those people charged you $200 to style you AND had a consultation with you.
I forgot to rate them all, but I loved that green, sweetheart neckline shirt outfit and the suit one. Absolutely adored them. And the expensive cost was also really nice, but liked it a whole lot more when it was all buttoned and tied up. Overall though, I didn't think most of the outfits were bad. Except for a few, the rest were nice😁
$200 stylist outfit 5 doesn't look at all like my grandma's curtains, it does however look remarkably similar to her sofa. Overall, my favorite was also your favorite, $200 stylist #4. The vest and trouser outfit was spot on perfect, and ordering the trousers a size larger, I think gave them a nice flow, and the colour was perfect. I can't help but think the leather coat would go wonderfully with them.
All time favorite is outfit #2 from the $200 stylist. That green looks so good on you, and it's very flattering on your figure. #4 was also good, but I think how comfortable you felt in it made it even better. I hope you kept those two 🙂. #1 would have been much better without the shorts, you're right. The only one from the $20 stylist that was worth it was #2. But you're definitely right about it needing a longer jacket.
I started doing stitchfix for this exact reason, to get better exposure to other brands. I am so lost when it comes to dressing myself it’s embarrassing. Love that you shared this and tuning in for more of your journey.
Would love to see you do this with hiring an in person stylist who’s studio you visit and get to try things on and rent. How styling traditionally works!
Expensive 2 was my favourite. It gives off the "i'm naturally stylish" vibe and a total "I want to be like her" reaction. I also loved the last top from the cheaper stylist... until you mentioned the price of it! The suit set was great too, it felt powerful.
You should definitely keep: The leather coat (get one that’s not damaged, but please keep it) The full outfit with the vest The 2 shirts with a heart neckline (the green and blueish one) The basic black boots (without the holes in the front) The black purse from the look with the super weird shirt and brown pants
Purchase the one you love and skip all the rest…you chose the best. (Now, regarding that fabulous black coat! OMG!) With that said, the cream coat is quite nice and is great with your vested trousers. And the boots are perfection!
Okay the stylists' results were insane!! 😭 As a stylist, I'm assuming someone who is getting styled for the first time does not want to go so out of their comfort zone, but rather to just amp up what you already wear and to make recommendations on how to accessorize, style things on the body, etc. Maybe add in a few new key pieces and one statement piece. Just wild... making a Fiverr account now haha!
Yea correct me if I’m wrong but as a stylist you take one’s personal style and then try and get them out of their comfort zone. It’s like “oh you like classic stuff let’s get you to try some more colorful stuff”
I agree with you, best outfit that complimented your body was the suit. From just watching this video I feel like 1940s inspired fashion will definitely go with you, it’s a mixture of masculine and feminine and still sophisticated. (I’ve been wanting to be a fashion stylist since I was 15, I never believed in myself but I’m 36 now and it’s time!)
Oh! You're right about the 40's! She should look into Veronica Lake-style dresses. The leather coat was most gorgeous in the back! Why would you want the attention there, unless you're Kardashian? A very fun exploration. Kudos!
Some of those outfits from the $20 stylist made me laugh so hard, especially the one with the animal print bag! I have never seen your videos before but it was very obvious that the stylists missed your essence as a person and just chose outfits they thought you would like. Regardless, great content, and I hope you're able to rid of all the failed pieces for your bank account's sake LOL
The one with the animal print bag is perfect 😆😅🤣 for times when you need to convince your ex's new girlfriend that you aren't a threat to their relationship 😜
Hi! It's the first time i saw such a detailed video on such a topic. Its very helpful for both sides: stylists and clients. And i'm very thankful that you posted it. I cannot say i'm a full stylist but a begginer. And that experiment that you've done will help me to develop better view, skills and approach for clients. Also it gave me new ideas. Thanks and have a great day🤗
The $200 stylist's outfit #2 was my personal favourite. The shape of the top was absolutely beautiful and so flattering and I think it's approachable enough for everyday wear. That coat is gorgeous too 😍
I have to say I think the second outfit from the $200 stylist was my favourite! I understand it might be on the simpler end from the more expensive stylist, but I think it's very classic and easy to fit into a regular wardrobe - nice forest colours complimented with the beige, very aesthetic to me :)
I’m a full-time stylist and actually dig the short look. Love the higher valued stylist’s looks but makes sense that for TWENTY DOLLARS (which is practically like working for free) are less exciting. She did a good job considering.
Outfit #2 - 8/10 that shirt is so flattering on you, you look gorgeous in it. The color, the neckline, the material, all of it is a win. The outfit as a whole was really great and you looked incredible in it. It could be professional but also semi casual and could work for a lot of different events(work, lunch date, getting coffee with friends, standing in line at a bookstore meeting the love of your life, anything really).
Outfit 1: 5/10 (love the coat and the shoes) 2: 10/10 (hands down one of my faves with your coloring. Fits you great and the jacket and purse elevate it just enough) 3: 3/10 (one point for jacket, purse and boots) 4: 10/10 (it is 100% you and I feel the confidence from you when you wear it) 5: 0/10 (I couldn't even look at the shoes and purse, my eyes had melted from the dress) Outfit 1: 9/10 (change the pants and it will be a 10/10 for me) 2: 9/10 (looks better with the Valentino coat and without a coat at all. My jaw would drop if you wore that on a date with me 😘🥰😍) 3: 3/10 (same misunderstanding as you with the calf boot being cut out, the top is nice but the color and pattern of the skirt is a no) 4: 5/10 (would have been higher w/different shoes and purse. Purse is cute but with a different outfit) I say send back everything but the outfit you absolutely loved and the Valentino coat (must keep the coat)
Elena, I think we have similar taste/style. Being very tall, I also love the androgynous look, and the trouser/vest combo was my favourite. I feel it heightens our femininity but is comfortable, classic and flattering. Whilst I love some ultra feminine patterned dresses etc, I find these work against my height and figure. Simple is best😊
I am surprised none of the stylists even tried looking at the stuff you already have and creating a look based on your actual wardrobe. Or I might have missed it.
the $200 outfit two and the $200 outfit four are my favs. I feel like that suit just immediately fit what you were looking for, and that beige coat, green shirt, and brown pants combo looked amazing on you.
The casual green top (from the second outfit that you tried on) looks really great on you.. I think you should definitely keep that item. The rest of the outfit looks good too -- like something for running errands or going to the library. The only thing that I would change, is the colour of the coat -- really pale colours will cost ypu alot more in cleaning bills and any minor damage (even rain spots) is ALOT more visible, and they don't age as well because such a pale colour will start to discolour over time).
This may have already been mentioned, but I think this is where it's important to have a stylist who does an initial assessment of what you already have in your wardrobe, and who performs the role of personal shopper with you. It's less accessible than using a service fully online, but she/they will get an idea of a) what you look like IRL, b) what you already own that can be incorporated, styled or tailored into new looks, and c) check the fit of new clothes and any client objections in person!! As other commenters have already mentioned, needs like fabric/breathability and value for budget/cost-per-wear and lifestyle appropriateness and probably going to be adressed better by a service that works with you offline. (Not a stylist myself - spent a long time working fashion retail and spend a lot of time on Instagram and adding things to cart that I ultimately can't afford 😂 I understand better now when I have friends who say to me, "How are you so good at accessorising?" It's not always a matter of 'buy what you like and affix to your body' 💁🏻♀️) Interesting to see what choices you ended up with based on your brief and budget! And that ochre floral dress has way too much going on. It needs a block (plain) colour and simpler neckline. Absolute dog's breakfast disaster of elements! My fave was the green top with brown trousers but you can clearly see how much you enjoyed the waistcoast co-ord!
I actually really love the grandma's curtain's outfit. But I do have sketchy taste and get most of my ish from thrift stores, so I might be wrong there. Overall I liked the more expensive stylist outfits more. They were very fashion girl but make it sophisticated lol, honestly they both had wins and fails. The matrix coat is absolutely gorgeous
I wonder if it's just me but the grandma's outfit would scream high fashion if the dress cropped instead? Like showing some mid drift? Perhaps that's just me?
As a “fashionable person” I have to say that the expensive stylist did a great job of finding cool fashionable looks but it doesn’t matter how good something looks on you if you let the outfit wear you rather than wearing the outfit with your confidence. The two piece vest suit thing that you love isn’t necessarily better than the other pieces but it looks incredible in you because the way you carry yourself on it is much more confident than the other fits. I hate all the cheap stylist looks, they’re basic.
But most times how confident you are in an outfit depends on how well they fit you. Some of these outfits had a horrible fit on her, like the first pair of pants, and that third top was atrocious. She wasn't feeling the brown pants, but she looked great on them anyways, so it wasn't so much about her liking it.
That Valentino coat is EVERYTHING. I definitely prefer the more expensive style looks, some tops/items were meh. Like the shirt trousers or the curtain floral dress. Other than that I feel like some items were 10/10 like the vest suit.
I know the valentino coat is the star of this video, but that lighter colored coat that came with the vest outfit was such a winner for me!! I love that it's has a mature/professional vibe, but also looks a bit slouchy and cozy. like augghhhh its so cute (and versatile)! Would anyone happen to know where it's from?
Hear me out, I know the dress isn't for everybody but it is absolutely gorgeous in my opinion and looks STUNNING on you!! I loved the entire outfit and the boots were just MWAH *chef's kiss.* The purse and leather jacket is also amazing and I actually really loved all of the outfits by the $200 stylist with the exception of the slanted black corset. I see what they were going for but it was just too thick and didn't look as nice as in the picture and looked a lot more frumpy. It was one of those moments that seem like a good idea in your head but just doesn't work out in reality.
My problem with the dress is that I feel it has too much going on with it, and I absolutely hate the low boots with it. I think it would have been better served with a shoe in a more neutral color. Same with the bag. They seem to be competing with the dress or distracting from it not toning it down any. The dress is kind of overwhelming in style and the print contributes to this, but it’s drawing attention to her face and upper body which I think is good. I think the skirt should have been lengthened and the bottom ruffle shorter so that the hemline was the same or the hemline should have been slightly longer and the bottom ruffle excluded entirely. She is right in that the color is wrong for her. It’s practically the same as her hair.
Coming from someone who has a rotating wardrobe of 7 t-shirts and 3 pair of pants, I loved this video. You made me actually want to attempt looking nice. Thanks!!
The more expencive stylist definitely has way more exquisite fashion sense and taste, they have done a fantastic job and all the outfits look amazing on you, it’s like in a film devil wears Prada, sophisticated and fashionable, classical and a little quirky, the cheaper stylist looks, well they look cheap…
@elvis roose I think you need skills because the whole purpose of fashion (*I think*) it's to know how to dress to each ocasion while expressing yourself
@elvis roose common sense is that not everyone has good taste , if everyone had good sense of fashion we wouldn’t have had all these middle age dudes in sandals all around and girls in horrible polyester crop tops… yes fashion is subjective , so I guess if we didn’t live in a society/in a certain time frame/ with certain aesthetic influences, everyone could put on whatever and look alright because we wouldn’t have had critical thinking, but that’s not the case
@@winter6849 imho good clothes is clothes that made out of quality materials, that will be durable and comfortable and practical, fashionable clothes is clothes that looks appropriate, fresh and makes a certain statement about its wearer in the modern day and age, what fashion stylists do is they find a golden middle between the two , fashionable clothes is useless if it’s not good, and vice versa
I actually gasped when I saw it! It's beautiful and cool and everything I would want in a leather coat like that. Usually with cheap clothing there are some things that just arent quite right but the coat is just perfect imo. i mean it was broken but still
17:30 I love this look on you. It compliments your hair and complexion and is lovely on your figure unlike the last first fit. It's exactly the sort of thing I pictured when you described your desired style.
The yellow dress is fab on you. You are just not used to it. Hair up, red lipstick for nighttime and a soft pink for daytime, black stockings or even white for a girly look. Attitude is everything. You can totally own this look!
I think this was a very helpful experiment. I am delighted for you, that you found some pieces that resonated with you! $ 200 stylist: Look 1: Valentino Leather trench, 20/10: That coat is a classic. Ask for a deeper discount. The top is very good on you. 9.5/10 Boots, if leather, 9/10; if not, then hard no. There is a brand of bag that is an ergonomic design, that I think would work well for you & fit your esthetic. Look 2: That top was SO GOOD on you! Collect that color. 10/10 Trousers 10/10 Tan raincoat/ mackintosh 10/10. It is a great idea to have 1 cloth coat & 1 leather. Learn to care for your leathers. Or make friends with "a bootblack", and wear your leathers while they are being worked on. Look 3: Leather Trench: worth the investment. Combat boots: you seem to connect with them. Buy leather. It lasts longer & is more kind to the planet. Corset under [did I understand that correctly?] Invest in 1 if you like the look. It is fun to mix "sexy" with "suit". The lace top...I would like & use more, with an even hem. Look 4: best of the best Trousers & waistcoat/ vest: 10/10. Is there a matching jacket/ blazer? Do that, too, if it is available. I like the shape of them. Busy prints hide stains. That hand bag? No. Too bulky.
I don’t know why you would ever think leather is better for the planet. There’s a reason true sustainable brands never use leather. I encourage you to research it further. Raising of cattle, acidifying the oil, the food and water resources, the toxic curing and dying practices, the waste, it died by break down because of the toxic chemicals even though one would think because it’s “natural” it should. And on and on.
@@alynawatersmusic A leather bag lasts for decades. That's why. The real problem is that consumerism is a disease. Hence, yes, buy non leather and everyone can buy as many as they want and don't feel guilty when they buy something new everytime a new trend or another useless model are launched on the market.
@@alynawatersmusic hi i get what you mean ...i get it. I also agree that there are more sustainable solutions out there. However, to be sustainable, it helps to not have to buy things often, espcially things that are made of plastic and well everything done with polymers is basically done with plastic. Thus, I believe that second hand leather IS sustainable and that if you want to buy a staple and soemthing that will last a lifetime and you want it to be durable, leather is a good option. Other than fruit based leather, which will be perhaps more expensive than real leather, fake leather is plastic ...plastic breaks down and welll honestly I think plastic is worst for the environment . I think "vegan" plastic leather has to stop except if its done by recyling plastic ( but then its as expensive as real leather). But I agree that always buying things and that the "exotic" leather industry is horrible and that leather is not the MOST sustainable idea, I love the fruit leather idea and I hope it will get more affordable. :)
Loved the long black dress with the leather trench. See? You're not that bad at styling. You made a decision to deviate and it looked phenomenal. You could get away with the combat boots with that dress too and it could go daytime. Some of those outfits I liked but they seemed like wear once, then never pull again until you do a clothing declutter. Of course this is coming from someone who lives in leggings, hoodies, shorts and tees, bc I refuse to be uncomfortable. I don't think my opinion is worth salt. Sorry for not scoring all of them, but that was absolutely my favorite of all the outfits. Gutting that the trench arrived broken!
As a retired personal jewelry designer, I would never have picked all that black for you. Your coloring is spectacular and rare and should be celebrated with lighter, warmer neutrals and a few "mermaid" colors (coral, aqua, mint green, etc.) You also have a near perfect figure, so dressing you should have been simple. There were only two outfits I felt truly did your beauty justice: the two piece grey vest suit and the # 4 outfit from the $20.00 stylist that had a ruched ivory skirt paired with a deep sea blue top. The black leather coat was a great design, but it doesn't really flatter your coloring or figure. When I was designing for clients I always respected their individuality: many people want simpler styles that they can wear more often, not dramatic pieces that only work occasionally. My best advice to you is to pick a core neutral color other than black, possibly a warm grey, blue grey or conversely a warm brown. Then buy something that you adore that flatters your figure and looks both young and sophisticated and reflects your style. Ideally in a colder climate this would be a 3-season coat or at least a blazer or jacket. Then start adding pieces that go with that item: slacks, a skirt, a nice blouse or sweater. Or you could start with that vest and pant set in grey. You have an hourglass shape, which both stylists did a good job of accenting. However, since you like simpler styles, always be careful to choose those that have a shape, a nipped in waist and fabric that is not to heavy, so it can still drape well. Avoid squared off, boxy, heavy looks at all costs, as well as heavy dark colours. Clothing and jewelry should enhance the person's beauty, not detract.
Yeah, but she seems to like black. Mermaid colors are super girly and she doesn't seem like she's into that. I bet slightly more masculine autumn colors would look great on her and tie in the greys and blacks she seems to prefer.
You would have so much fun if I were your client because I want my accessories as extra as possible. Admittedly matching a wardrobe to my jewelry tastes can be a challenge, however.
that coat with the long dress is just amazing. it looks so good I'm almost jealous of how much it suits you. if I was rich I would buy the long coat in a second
I love both of the coats chosen by the expensive stylist. You would have the Valentino coat for a lifetime if you waterproofed it .. the generous waistline makes it possible. Perhaps she recommended taupe/khaki/brown toned Bermudas and trousers because an all-black outfit would overpower your colouring. Grey is a bit boring and the browns modernized the look. The ideas were good but substitute a longer skirt and hosiery for a classic look. I was impressed that the expensive stylist was able to accomplish so much with your budget. Valentino may offer you a discount for doing your own repair rather than return the coat. Perhaps the stylist has a contact at Valentino to vouch for your channel and sincerity.
It looks like it was ordered from the designer resale site The Outnet, not Valentino directly so they'd have no liability but contacting The Outnet-a reputable site that is supposed to vet the quality of their items-that an item was delivered damaged might offer some results. Would definitely give it a shot since that coat is killer.
As a stylist, I would engage in a consultation that takes time to get to know who you are, what your clothing experiences have been, and identify what your style categories is - that is, the language you use to describe monochrome, trendy, tailored, funky etc etc is actually a very personal concept, this is imperative for a stylist to understand their clients language and concept of fashion and style, to really get to the personal style you are looking for - that's why its called 'personal' style
I agree with your choice: That vest-suit was the best of the lot. You've got good instincts. Trust them. Your feeling of general confusion is probably due to unfamiliarity with you body type and therefore not recognizing a proper fit, as someone back there said already. Over all, I liked that jeans coverall best! It suited you in style, fit AND colour. It's difficult to say exactly via camera and screen, but I'd say you natural colour profile could be clear summer. Although with that hair colour you can definitely borrow some colours/shades from an autumn palette! It's pretty common to be a combination rather than a clear-cut fit into any category. I am, myself, even when I don't have dyed hair. But it makes it a lot more difficult to find out what exactly suits you! When you finally realize you can actually work TWO palettes, life gets easier! You have quite a long waist. In that sense, you do have the body of a model! (I envy you.) But many of the tops, especially the corset tops, were simply not quite long enough. For the look they were aiming for, they'd need to be about half an inch (more than a centimeter, not much more than two) longer on you. Even the black weirdness with the asymmetric hem might work if the hem were 2-4 inches longer. As for the gold-beige sofa covering ruffles... yeah, no. Excuse me while I cover up my titters! :) Right: If I were to sew this garment for you again from scratch, here's what I would change: 1. The waist of the dress is too loose. You have a gorgeous waist. A bit more tailoring would show it off properly, even while keeping it decently covered. Both the diagonal cut (if I'm not mistaken) and the ruching (did I get that word correctly?) at the natural waistline (smallest measure at the under boob area) make you look more pregnant than the high-waisted trousers did! We could do a little bit of one without the other, but not both. My choice would be to keep the diagonal cut, to visually bring your beautiful long torso into proportion. And lose all the ruffle at the waist. Let the soft folds of the fabric give the intended look just from the downward widening cut. 2. Drop the hemline. You look like a little girl with so much knees showing. I think this dress may be intended to end just above the knee. There's no need to go all puritan, though! Just elegant rather than girly. And I'd lengthen the mid-section. Keep the hem ruffle as is, or maybe even shorten it a little. As it is now, the cut-off point between these two segments of fabrics sits over an inch too high on your hips. That combined with the no-definition waist enhances the pregnant -look. We want a graceful, even sensuous curve of lightly flowing fabric caressing the curve of your hips, then departing from then languorously with a gentle sigh before widening into the playful hem ruffle. But it ends too soon! There's no space/time for these impressions to form. The cut, as it now, is showing pointers in the direction it should go, but it's not getting far enough in any of these trajectories. I think this is why you feel like it's got some potential. Again: Good instincts. 3. Lose the collar. That upright chimney look is not right for your face shape. If you DO want to wear a high collar, you can do it in a jersey or some neutral, non-shiny fabric. This slightly too loose cut combined with the shine makes you neck look wider, which in turn makes your chin look narrower. Your chin and neck are just fine! Don't you let a dress lie about them, girl! 4. I'm not sure about the ruching on the upper body AND the sleeves. I think they steal attention from each other. Either one by itself might work better. They are details that bring attention to your shoulder line, creating a visual enhancement and an impression of an hourglass shape, especially with a hem that widens out like this. They're supposed to direct that attention smoothly further up into your face and eyes. But I find my eyes ping-ponging between your upper arms and upper chest instead. "Too much ruffle, don't know where to go from here." 5. The colour. It's a liiiiitle bit too much yellow-orange for your own colouring. I'd go either into more reddish orange, or a cooler antique gold. This is rather close to a match in some aspects. While your hair is this colour, you could well wear this shade of orange too, but I'd not put it right next to the face. Or bare legs. Your legs look pale next to this colour. Especially with the black shoes. And I'd generally wear almost any orange with brown, tan, or maybe red shoes rather than black. The long black jersey dress with the long slits did look good! The green and black shorter jackets both had the same problem: too "big" visually, not tying in with the rest of the outfit. Too wide, too bulky, not tailored enough. And finally, I would never-ever-ever wear jeans with such holes in them! I might wear them neatly patched, if it was clearly workwear and not for show at all. (But that may be a cultural bias.)
the first outfit is like when the clothes wear you and not the other way around . My biggest fashion rule is i always try to avoid looking like the clothes swallow your personality or look like a costume. the clothes should enhance and show your personality that's called personal style and its way cooler than any trend. be iconic, don't follow icons .
The expensive stylist did a great job! I’d gladly hire her if I could afford it. First of all, that leather coat is worth every penny! It would make anything look expensive and it’s timeless. Love love love it. So… the leather coat with the top and boots were great. The shorts, not so much. The length and fit were so awkward. I’d return those. Outfit #2 with the leather coat had potential. I’d keep those trousers and style with a different top. The green top and mouse grey trousers (if that’s their colour), although simple, looked professionally styled (or put together by someone who knows a thing or two about fashion and styling) because of their fit. Simple, yet elegant, and looked wonderful on you. The suit-vest combo with the beige (?) trench was fantastic. The dress, on the other hand… please, return it. It’s an eyesore. The cheap stylist outfits were… not great. The items, individually, looked cheap, the fabrics and fit were so off and the combinations were something you’d see on Shein. That person ought to stay away from styling, they have no idea what works with what and on whom.
Honestly the $20 stylist did a great job for what was paid! I really like all her outfits! think it’s fine she suggested the suggested ones from the website, you don’t want to exploit her by having her spend *that* much time on it for $20.
I think the cheaper stylist has “look books” based on themes, and then would just pick/choose based on client’s preferences and then send to the client. She wouldn’t personalise/create every single outfit each time. That’s why it said “influencer aesthetic” at the top, just picks the most suitable aesthetic from her archives. Would have taken some work initially but after that, probably only takes $20 worth of time.
i don't want to sound snobby but i definitely don't think it's cool to be getting paid to create looks if you just use what websites automatically suggest... i agree with han n that those were probably premade styles and i'm assuming that's why the price is that low too.
@@Korilian13depends where you live honestly, but sure, the first time it's done maybe yeah. but after that it would probably take only a couple of minutes to just choose a few premade templates.20 usd is almost 40 bucks for me so it seems more than a good deal haha even at a normal good job here u get paid like 50 usd a day or less so 20 just for that seems like a steal
You pick incredible colors for your red hair and complexion. Have you had your color analysis done? I’m also a redhead and I’m very inspired by your ability to find flattering colors and shades! Idk if that’s your natural hair color, but it’s perfect! I love the green top with the cool neckline and the dress with oranges and yellows. In someone else, it might look like Grandma’s curtains, but those colors are perfection of you. The denim jumpsuit is very flattering on you, too!
The long dress with slitted sides was awesome. 10/10. Also yes the heart neckline green top and trousers was cute 8/10. The 2 piece pant suit was chefs kiss on you 10/10. Everything else was just "no."
For $200 stylist: I love outfit number 2! 10/10 it's very versatile and I can see all of those pieces working with a lot of different outfits for different events. The green in the top really does look so good on you. Outfit 1: 5/10 it's very confusing and I'm not a fan of long boots with shorts. I think it clashes and the top is confusing. The colors were okay, but the pieces don't work together. Outfit 3: 2/10 is very confused. Individual pieces are neat (except the weird corset hem I don't understand it and it's really impractical) but they are definitely not cohesive and they're fighting each other for attention, which is the opposite of what should be happening when you have a piece like the corset. Outfit 4: 10/10 it looks so good on you and I can ABSOLUTELY see why it's your favorite! The fit is great and the pieces truly work together. Outfit 5: 5/10 as is 8/10 with a different pattern/color. It's great in terms of shape and style, but the color of the dress is horrid. I can see this dress being stunning in a solid color or a less garish pattern. Overall I think it looked nice on you and if it were a different color/pattern it would have been an easy pick to keep. For $20 stylist: Outfit 1 is tied with outfit 2 for my favorite. They are both10/10. They're also easy to dress up or down depending on your shoe choice/event. Outfit 1 is super easy to imagine on a date, at brunch, or in the office (with more professional pants in the same silhouette and a non cropped base layer) Outfit 2 is stunning without the original jacket and with the Valentino one Outfit 3: 0/10 it's just a giant no. Everything is fighting against each other. Nothing is horrid on its own (minus the bag, it's really ugly) but they don't work together at all. Outfit 4: 7/10 with some changes. The skirt is cute and it works well with the color of the top, but it's too light for your complexion. The bag is a big no for me. A simple clutch to match your shoes (not the leopard ones) or the buttons on the skirt would make this much better.
Agree with you except for the $20 stylists 3rd outfit. It's a pretty good outfit overall, just not wntirely right for her. I think with closed toe boots, a different color for the skirt, and maybe a different jacket or none at all, it would have worked better for her.
agreed. Outfit 2 of the expensive was my fav! I also think outfit 4 of the cheap was nice but there's too much going on. Either that top with a skirt more plain, or that skirt with a top that's plain
One of the things I realized about getting into fasion is the style you choose has to come naturally! If layers bother u dont layer, if you like how you look in something but the process of putting it on isn't nice you wont wear it, the reverse is also true. With fashion it was easiest for me to start simple and build. There's lots of aesthetics I love the look of but for me it didn't work
the "if you like how you look in something but the process of putting it on isn't nice, you won't wear it" is crazy to me because it feels so obvious and yet is not something that I've ever really thought about. I mean I hate putting on basically everything lmao but ease of dressing is a factor I've never really paid particular attention to
@@inbuttsmeeting Yes, I had a lot of nice things but had to think about how to wear them. This autumn, I got a lot of co-ordinated trousers and tops/jumpers in neutral shades, that went with things I already had - mostly casual but elegant, and the colours all mixed and matched. I love them as I don't have to think about an entire outfit carefully, but can choose things that go together well very easily. I still wear my other things at times when I have time to think out the whole outfit and want something different, but to be honest, I wore the newer things much more, they will be good for next year too, they go with brighter coloured accessories, and are very comfortable and easy to wear. I've also started shunning things that have difficult fastenings at the back and prefer tops and dresses that can get over my head. The outfits I liked best are the vest and trousers, trench style coat, boots and bag from the expensive stylist. And the wild card dress looked lovely. The rest 'meh'. I would not buy the Valentino coat just because they sent out such an expensive item broken. Shows a lack of respect for the customer. But maybe I just don't do black leather, except for shoes and bags. It looked good on her, but I liked the other coat better. One thing that really helps ease of dressing is to restrict your colour palette so it mixes and matches, with fewer contrasts. I know that's not in fashion at the moment. If you like prints, do the same as if you are clever, you may be able to mix and match them easily.
i love outfit #2 and #4 from the more expensive stylist and #2 from the inexpensive stylist ! the vest suit outfit was amazing ! fit perfectly and honestly choosing outfits are made to make YOU feel good, comfortable and confident and you look like you would actually wear those outfits in a certain setting overall amazing !!! (yes i commented, liked and subscribed to help a girly out even if its a year old video lmfao)
I personally loved the outfit with the green sweet-heart top and brown trouser. I thought it suited her body amazingly well while keeping everything covered. I think simple and flattering pieces are really effective. You don't need a ton to make them shine. Don't want to wear the jacket? Chocolate hankerchief scarf could be cute, a nice earring. Or maybe a belt? A truly tailored and flattering outfit only needs one accessory to add interest, two or three if you want to go hard on it.
I liked that outfit too. The colors were beautiful on her & the top & bottom would both be great for mix & match. The grey vest & trousers that she loved were perfect for her. I would kill for the Valentino coat but I wouldn't want to end up living under a bridge because of how much it costs. 🤣

Love your personality! It’s interesting to hear your opinion on things like this :p
How do we get you to style us? When I say I'm challenged....you have no clue
The expensive one did have a video call, so was able to see her. The 20 dollar one is probably just from a collection of themes.

I thought about the same, how would you know how to match the colour temperature and tint. without knowing the sikin/eyes/hair colour compared to a true white background. And not even mention the bodytype and proportion of legs/torso and arms. I almost miss being a personal shopper/stylist/designer.
Have a great weekend
Edited spelling, thanks for the help :)
As a stylist, I feel like both of them are based more on trend and on their personal tastes. The part where they missed was knowing you deeper, especially the lifestyle you're living. Laso, if there was another consultation where they show you the direction they are going, they most probably land perfectly on the brief.
the brief was quite concise and clear. They are just not listening to the customer.
I feel they threw stuff at a dartboard and went with it lol

just dress simple with neutral colored clothes
@@Piyeom Also, classic styles. Trends come and go, but classic styles never go out of fashion.

I love how both stylists gave you one "late 90's goth chick who watched The Matrix a week ago and now tells everyone at the club about the unreliability of reality" outfit, like it's the most common aesthetic
I feel like everyone wants to feel that badass occasionally haha
Oh my God, you didn't have to call me out like that! 🤣
I'm guessing that's their textbook definition of timeless monochrome, they somehow didn't consider white as the dominant color .
I actually kept all 3 of these things 😭 good eye !!

If you ever feel like doing a new video, free of charge, about ten looks picked by a fashion designer and subscriber, let me know! lol
This would be a cool video!
This would be so awesome!
Sorry, I thought most of the outfits from the stylists didn't quite work. One outfit with the olive top and brown slacks with jacket and purse was okay, but the combos were not so great. Mix and match were strange.
@@KatarinaGirl Right?? I felt precisely the same. The clothes felt bland too, no character at all!

“Poorly dressed hunger games extra” 😭 😭

It was the victorian schoolboy in the matrix for me omg LOOOL hahhahahah
I have all these pieces except Grandmas curtains and the brown pants I have a burnt orange brown pant & vest. I had this stuff for years. They keep saying new fashions & old stuff revamped . I won’t be cutting the toes out of my boots this year.
While I fully agree than your favorite outfit is STUNNING on you, the second outfit from the 200 $ Stylist can not be ignored, that green looks INCREDIBLE on you.
Yesss! Incredible indeed
Yessss omg! It was stunning
I LOVE #2 outfit. Where are the trousers from?
My favorite outfit too!
Same, that was my favourite outfit on her, too
I just had a stylist transform my wardrobe recently and after that experience, I am not surprised this experiment went the way it did.
Who did you hire?
How much did you pay? I would love to do this.
Am also interested
please don't gatekeep, go ahead and share
Did you hire body and style (i think her name is ellie jean?)
Thank you for in depth response. I learned from you.
The expensive stylist was the clear winner for me. She had the right balance between solids, prints, cuts, and texture…she also gave timeless pieces that you can wear years down the line and it would look great (the crème trench 10/10). And the grandma dress…I actually liked lol. I think if you had a high ponytail and swapped the boots out, it would have worked.
neither accomplished the job stated in the brief.
@@viewpointinout6601 right, which was the main thing :/
This made me feel better about my own fashion choices, if that $20 lady can charge people for her "ideas" then I am good with what I put together. 😅
To be fair for 20 dollars they should not have spend more than 1.5 hours on it for 7 looks. Granted it should still also be worth it for the buyer but you can’t expect too much for a low wage

I LOVED Outfit #2 from the expensive stylist. The green, brown, and cream coat looked incredible on you!
I wish the pants had a subtle pattern like a houndstooth maybe, but the color combination looked amazing.
@@megggg a brown tweed or twill gamp would have been STUNNING!!! Women's trousers should be just as elegant and classic as men's trousers. (Trousers are what go with suits.)
I loved that one too.
I liked it too but the coat was too big and swallowed it up.
Yes, that one was awesome
That Valentino coat is EVERYTHING! I think the outfits by $200 stylist are more editorial whereas the cheaper stylist is more “normal” everyday outfits.
meh, you could just buy a cheaper but just as nice leather jacket. It will never be reasonable or worth it to overpay that much just for a brand.
@@Czadzikable the 'just as nice' is the catch. also a leather jacket compared to the longline coat is a completely different vibe.
Definitely keep the Valentino coat! 😁
@@Czadzikable that’s not how fashion works. Each clothing piece means something. I know you’re thinking mostly practically. But a leather jacket being an option for a jacket doesn’t make it a good replacement.
@Kotoru but fake leather harm the earth.......
Agree
Would have been better with taking in account the body ratio
Whenever I think my outfits are bad I just look at what the stylists came up with and have a good laugh lol
LOL for real. Fashion is hilarious.
#2 ($200 stylist) was so perfect. I don’t normally like that style, but it worked so well on you with the coloring and silhouette.
Yesss I agreeee
Get real; She would look stunning in ANYTHING. She's gorgeous (like her cat), with an amazing figure.
Yess !! That was perfect
to be fair, you look the best in the expensive stylist outfits! every single outfit just screams sophisticated. i think maybe that's what the stylist understood than us regular consumers lol. but dress number 4 is no go 😅 if you wear enough such outfits, I think you're good to go. and I don't like any of the cheap stylist outfits... it may look like a day to day outfit, easy to style. but it looks like a mess
$200 stylist definitely won this overall. The green shirt outfit + the vest outfit were great.
The $20 one wasn't awful but there would be quite a few tweeks to multiple outfits to make them better/more elevated.
no! The 20$ was indeed pathetic but so was the 200$ it was just a huge amount of money and i feel i could dress her better
@@saloniroy4358 same! One of us off the street could do better!
Girl! Do NOT doubt your sense of style! Some of those suggestions were shudder-worthy!
I thought that the denim jumpsuit was the first Look; aside from the matching set, it is the best thing you put on.
(P.S. I think the trousers from the next look might be better with the green sweater.)
I just HAVE to say that I DEEPLY LOVED the effort you put into this rating. like, for me this is a 100/10 rating report. thank you for sharing
Yes! Green sweater looks beautiful
Yes! Grey vest and trousers beautiful without the coat

Most excellent post, thanks!
that matrix trench coat makes this entire rollercoaster worth it tbh, that jacket was truly gorgeous
i did like some of the pieces from both stylists, like the knee high boots and the aforementioned godly simulation coat, but the 200 one definitely had an edge imo!
A really cool twist on this idea would be to repeat this BUT have someone help you so you were unaware of which outfits were styled by the more expensive/cheap stylist and guess!! Also the second look from the more expensive stylist was just *chefs kiss* loved loved loved it!!!
I am HERE FOR THIS IDEA.

Yeah, I've can find at least three different understandings of what classic means, Ellbats, the stylists and my own.
Obviously my fave was the cheap stylist outfit #1 bc it was the most wearable, but I think you could rock the two piece suit style everyday!
same here damn
Same
Same. It just showed up on my feed today.
10/10. such a flattering silhouette and the colours looked amazing and classic together 😍 chic and sophisticated but still wearable for everyday things!

yeah it's classic but all of them fit really well. and does have the simple sophisticated vibe she wanted.
Absolutely agree

It’s like “oh you like classic stuff let’s get you to try some more colorful stuff”

you should definetly find a dupe for the valentino coat because it's too expensive but it looks nice on you
For a leather coat, that is not expensive. For one from a designer like Valentino..... Get real!
the $200 outfit two and the $200 outfit four are my favs.
(Not a stylist myself - spent a long time working fashion retail and spend a lot of time on Instagram and adding things to cart that I ultimately can't afford 😂
I understand better now when I have friends who say to me, "How are you so good at accessorising?" It's not always a matter of 'buy what you like and affix to your body' 💁🏻♀️)
Interesting to see what choices you ended up with based on your brief and budget!
It kinda was better though it suits her and the fit was immaculate
I want to know too! It might be on her discord.
I also want to knooow - my favorite piece 🥰
I also love to know this
Me too
did ayone find out ? really really amazing piece
Grey vest and pants with trousers look great!
I completely agree, I would give it a 10/10
I love the dress too!
I loved the dress as well but it's a statement and if you don't have the confidence to own it, it won't work on you.
@@yulovemc1024 so true!
@elvis roose i think nice clothes are not the same as fashionable clothes
@@winter6849 the point of this wasn't to find nice clothes, it was to be fashionable lol
The Valentino leather coat is just one of the best things ever. The pleating on the back makes it so different and interesting!
Loved the video!
Yes, but it arrived broken... that is really bad 😅
I actually gasped when I saw it! It's beautiful and cool and everything I would want in a leather coat like that. Usually with cheap clothing there are some things that just arent quite right but the coat is just perfect imo. i mean it was broken but still
Please list the clothes from the $200 stylist!!!!
The boots, coats, and grey suit are amazing 😻
17:30 I love this look on you. It compliments your hair and complexion and is lovely on your figure unlike the last first fit. It's exactly the sort of thing I pictured when you described your desired style.
I wonder where did she get that looks trenchcoat? If you know pls tell me
That was my favourite too
also my favourite for her
The yellow dress is fab on you. You are just not used to it. Hair up, red lipstick for nighttime and a soft pink for daytime, black stockings or even white for a girly look. Attitude is everything. You can totally own this look!
I think this was a very helpful experiment. I am delighted for you, that you found some pieces that resonated with you!

Valentino Leather trench, 20/10:
That coat is a classic. Take care of it, and you will likely have it until you die.
Be sure your bulkiest sweater will fit under it.
(It is not broken. 1 button is loose. Easy, quick to fix.)
Contact them, with photos. Ask for a deeper discount.
The top is very good on you. 9.5/10
Boots, if leather, 9/10;
if not, then hard no.
There is a brand of bag that is an ergonomic design, that I think would work well for you & fit your esthetic.
Look 2:
That top was SO GOOD on you! Collect that color.
10/10
Trousers 10/10
Tan raincoat/ mackintosh 10/10.
It is a great idea to have 1 cloth coat & 1 leather. Learn to care for your leathers.
Or make friends with "a bootblack", and wear your leathers while they are being worked on.
Look 3:
Leather Trench: worth the investment.
Look 4: best of the best
Trousers & waistcoat/ vest: 10/10.
Is there a matching jacket/ blazer?
Do that, too, if it is available.
Gray shoulder bag
Either coat would work with this.
Also, the hip length moto jacket (other stylist) would look great with this, too.
Change the shoe to a ballet flat or court shoes with a slender heel to change the vibe completely.
Outfit 5:
Dress:
I loved those colors on you!
I would want the dress to be marginally shorter( less than 1") or just an inch longer.
...Wish the dress were in a coral, or nearly any green.
Earrings: I liked these. They would also work with other outfits.

my brain went almost immediately to creative ways to patch the holes in the jeans. 7/10

Trainers shoes, great basic, 10/10

Moto leather jacket: great basic 10/10
(I prefer the long trench with this dress.)

Open toe boots: hard No.
I do not comprehend, except if someone has a toe or toenail polish fetish.
Jacket: is this reused from look 2?
Skirt : hard NO. that plaid was printed, and the other / inside of the fabric was light.
Lesson: look for WOVEN plaid, the back & face of the fabric are very similar. And they wear more evenly.
Zebra beaded bag: animal is considered "neutral".
I think this is fun, quirky, a conversation starter. I would be tempted to use my fingerprint as inspiration.
A way to make a very basic look pop. Companion to a "little black dress"..

☆ top 10/10, one of my favourite pieces on you.
☆ skirt 10/10. Drop dead sexy on you.
Leopard print shoes...are currently considered "neutral". I like the shape of them.
Busy prints hide stains.
That hand bag? No. Too bulky.
I also had issues with the holes in those jeans. They were not interesting, just looked like mistakes.
Hence, yes, buy non leather and everyone can buy as many as they want and don't feel guilty when they buy something new everytime a new trend or another useless model are launched on the market.
would you know where she got the mushroom/tan rain coat and the brown bag in look 2 thxs
Your coloring is spectacular and rare and should be celebrated with lighter, warmer neutrals and a few "mermaid" colors (coral, aqua, mint green, etc.)
You also have a near perfect figure, so dressing you should have been simple.
Do you know where the second coat is from, per chance?
I wish she could keep the Valentino coat.
Right: If I were to sew this garment for you again from scratch, here's what I would change:
"Too much ruffle, don't know where to go from here."
I love the Outfit 2 from an expensive stylist. That green top looks awesome on you, the coat and the bag also look great.
the first outfit is like when the clothes wear you and not the other way around .
@@edelleaa honestly, even doing just that seems more labour intensive that $20 warrants.
Outfit 1 is super easy to imagine on a date, at brunch, or in the office (with more professional pants in the same silhouette and a non cropped base layer) Outfit 2 is stunning without the original jacket and with the Valentino one
Outfit 3: 0/10 it's just a giant no.
Spot on 🤌🤌🤌
I agree and yes, with a belt.
I liked that outfit too. The colors were beautiful on her & the top & bottom would both be great for mix & match. The grey vest & trousers that she loved were perfect for her. I would kill for the Valentino coat but I wouldn't want to end up living under a bridge because of how much it costs. 🤣
