Watches are a great investment if your investment philosophy is buy high sell low and leave a lot of money 💰 on the table.

Watches, Cars, and Sneakers are NOT investments lol. Drive your car, Rock your watch, wear your shoes lol.
The collector culture has gotten outta hand, i think a lot of the exuberance we have seen in the last decade has been from interest rates being close to 0. I don’t think we are going back to that anytime soon, so it’s best for people to actually buy what they like and want instead of speculation.
As a society we are very short sided in our thinking. In the early 90s, companies like breitling and tag were not as far down on the totem pole from Rolex as they are right now. BMW made objectively beautiful cars for driving purists, look at the brand now smh. Things can change quite drastically over time….
Who knows what will happen in another 30 years.
This is not financial advice but its prob best to invest in the tried and true things like Real estate, stocks, bonds, commodities, yourself lol, health or other things that have had more of a track record.
I couldn’t imagine telling my G-parents that I “invested” tens of thousands of dollars in a company and instead of buying the stock, i bought the product. 🙃😂

Yeah good point about tag and breitling. My rule of thumb when buy a watch is to buy one that will at least holds it value eg Damasko . The build quality and value is unbeatable.

Watches have never been a good financial investment because one would have to rely on volume for predictable growth and at that point, one is running a business or just a dirtbag flipper. Sure, one can flip a few individual units for quick gains but that is no different than day trading. The real investment in watches are in the sentiment we imbue in them, our support of horology and its industry, and being part of a community.
