This video reports the results of a recent paper published in the journal Science Advances that details the health hazards from the fine particulates contained in the smoke from wildfires.
It also reports results from a paper published in the journal GeoHealth which shows that wearing a well-fitting N95 mask can remove approximately 96% of PM2.5 particulates from wildfire smoke. In addition, wearing a well-fitting N95 mask reduced hospital admissions for respiratory problems associated with wildfire smoke by up to 39%. References to these two papers are given in the video.
