I’m not sure where to put this so I’ll just leave it here. I want to thank Sue and 1aauto for these fantastic videos on the first gen Mazda 6. They’ve helped me tremendously over the last couple years and the quality is top notch. Y’all are awesome.
This video was extremely helpful the only tip i would say from now doing it myself after watching this is when putting the strut mount and shock back in compress the shock it give you much more room to maneuver the mount thru the very tight gap. Also taking the x2 12mm bolts off that little brake bracket and moving it a bit gives you more room for wrenching and maneuvering.
You make it look so easy and your explanation of charging the damper is spot on Nothing like a UK maz6 i have weights on bottom damper bolt? and the dam damper would not come out 2hrs of chuffing about so dropped sub frame Doing this gave me access to the 14mm bolt heads so no pigging with spanners at all
excellent video. It's even the same color as my 04. Now I have to price all the sockets, ratchets, torque wrenches, extensions, swivels and shocks and compare to having a shop do the job. Then again I love any excuse to buy new tools.
I can't belive how rusty these models are! Matter of fact, the mazda 6 I 2002-2007 is notorious for the rusty chassis, the manufacturer spent no money undercoating it
Make sure you tighten the top bolt that holds the strut onto the car. I believe I failed to do that sufficiently and now have a nice Rattle sound. Or maybe I didn't compress the shock appropriately. Help me, please lol
Do you mean the bolts that bolster the upper strut frame onto the vehicle? You should ALWAYS torque spec your equipment! its most definitely worth the $100 for a good torque wrench.
I replaced my assembly and now I have play on the right side when I hit dips. I know I just replaced them today but please tell me it will go away and settle. The 3 bolts on top are tight .
That is your "bump stop" per say. After your shocks are moderately depressed, the lower control arm pushes on the spring to further support the car and prevent it from bottoming out onto any vital components. I was confused too when I first got my 6 since its not attached, but it serves a purpose!
The lower part of the cover on my mazda is completely gone, rusted off... Otherwise the shock seems fine, but can't be good for the inside to be exposed like that.
I'm from california and I've had some rusted bolts that were a b*tch to get out. I cant even begin to imagine what it must be like working on cars where you're from..

Won't have the rust problem at least. Great video
When you have the right tools everything looks easy.
Thank you soooo much! I have to perform this on our family car! May just order the shocks from you guys 👍👍

Yeah my Speed6 has undercoating on half of the frame rails, half assed. Good thing I’m in Florida.

Does replacing the shocks fix the rear end sag or does that mean worn out springs?
Is it the same way to remove the shock absorber in this Mazda 6 gy with 4x4 drive or do I have to disconnect the drive?
Wow. What a great video.
i think working on cars is one of the coolest things but
there seems to be alot involved

Will mazda 3 struts fit in a mazda 6 sedan?
Can someone tell me what the other large spring near the shock absorber is?

I broke one of the first bolt you took off for each side, what should I do ?
I'm guessing you bought another bolt by now right?
How did it go?
Cut it off and go buy a new one
Bonjour comment faire pour vous contacter merci
Is of same work for a 06/09 ford fusion
+Tony Cervantes That is a different vehicle. We may have videos for your vehicle, but you can use this video to get a general idea.
Yea I think its the same. The 3.0L engine in these is exactly the same as the fusions at least, except the oil pan I believe.
NICE JOB LADY ..
