For the uninitiated: Cabaret Clubs in Japan, are a type of nightclub where female hostesses for a fee will spend time with a client engaging in conversation and drinking. It's in a grey area of Japanese law where it's not prostitution in the traditional sense, but you are paying for a service. These clubs generally provide a relaxing environment with drinking, conversation and entertainment through karaoke or more elaborate stage acts. The Yakuza series generally condenses the practice to it's base elements and status in Japanese night life.
