I feel Smoker definitely should have landed in the S tier. Strait-laced hardass with unfortunate losing streak or not, the man is not only the most narratively present Marine in the story so far, but also a genuinely upstanding and righteous paragon (to a point of outright telling his superiors to shove it, when they offered him promotion and credit for something he didn't do), working as a perfect specimen to illustrate how your average folk in the One Piece world by and large see Marines as an organization.

If Magellan wasn’t assigned to the prison I feel like he would be a Vice Admiral possibly Admiral if he trained hard for it. He’s one of the few people that almost killed Luffy he shouldn’t be so slept on.
Magellan's powers wouldn't work very well outside of an Impel Down like setting. But powerwise he's Admiral level. The dude fodderized Pre-Timeskip Blackbeard and his entire crew. No one in the series that isn't pretty much Admiral level can do something like that. No one. And I don't think even Kaido could survive his poison.
While Magellan is pretty strong, I think his power becomes not so OP once Haki come into play because you should be able to block it or stop it for long enough to dodge it
I like Momonga as well. I always thought it was so badass of him to stab his hand to use pain to prevent himself from being petrified by Hancock's powers. As soon I saw that, I knew he wouldn't be some random VA that gets casted to the side.
I was expecting Garp to have his own tier list lmao. Also love the fact that he sits on one of the 3 admirals' seat on Marine Ford arc as if he was an admiral. But of course his strength and experience in fights are probably much better than the 3 current admiral and Sakazuki too. I love Garp and Sengoku especially the goofy times.
Garp will always be my favorite during the marineford battle he has to struggle between his love for his family and his sense of justice it’s heartbreaking and you can really see his struggle

Im actually baffled at how underrated vice admiral tokikake (Chaton) and Gion (Momousagi) are. I mean they were legit admiral candidates alongside fujitora & ryokygu, even being given code names. They're defo stronger then every vice admiral besides garp and possibly tsuru.
They aren't underrated, they just aren't that interesting compared to the likes of Garp, Tsuru, & Smoker who are the 3 Vice Admirals everyone immediately thinks of. Also wasn't Black Cage Hina a Vice Admiral even though she wasn't listed in the video? One Piece suffers from having too many characters the most of the Big 3.

It's unfortunate that so many of the Vice Admirals are just Extras with a high rank when T-Bone & Hina had so much more character despite being lower ranked. I know its a filler vice admiral for anime, but since first Episode when he appeard it was my favorite and i am really sad that we didnt see him since Marine fort. Edit: If we are talking about it. The moment smoker used his last strength to give law his heart back, I knew I would love smoker forever. That was way too cool and gentle. He might still want peace from pirates but he doesn't take his words or promises back. Thanks to law and Luffy he could stay alive. So did their men. The men trusted Luffy and law so much as to cry after them as they left. Smoker could easily be a asshole and say no you're not leaving. But nah. I love him.

Tsuru is honestly one of my favourite characters in One Piece, she is pretty much to Doflamingo what Smoker is to Luffy. And I want to see prime Tsuru even more in an eventual Godvalley flashbacks than I want to see prime Garp.
I think it’s pretty telling of the power gap between the admirals and vice admirals because when there were two vacant spots the world government drafted two guys to be admirals rather than pick from the vice admirals
I totally forgot about Vice Admirals. Everyone was very excited about them since they are just one rank below Admirals and we thought there would be some very powerful individuals among them. But they are pretty much relegated to being a hype tool for other characters. I don't think Oda has planned to give them any relevance anymore, especially considering that the show is heading towards it's end
Momousagi and Chaton should be bumped up to S tier in my opinion. The two were candidates for being the next admiral, only beaten out by Fujitora and Green Bull.

I personally think Smoker is defined by the fact that he is the first truly honorable Marine we meet on the series, with the others like Morgan and Nezumi being corrupt and power hungry. Smoker was one of the first examples of a good Marine, exemplified by his first interaction with civilians. A little girl spills ice cream on his pants, and instead of getting angry, he apologized to the kid for ruining her ice cream and gave her some money, telling her to make it a double scoop this time. That is one thing Smoker will always have in my book. He is one of the best examples of why people see the Marines as good guys. His honor is later shown in Alabasta,when first he lets Luffy go in exchange for saving his life, and later refuses to take the credit for defeating Crocodile, because he didn't, despite the Marines wanting him too for propaganda purposes.
Tsuru and Smoker should be S tier. Tsuru was part of the greatest Marine trio, that alone is a reason for her to be on S tier. Smoker’s character and sense of justice precedes everyone in the Marines and his intertwined relationship with the Strawhats permits him to be on S tier.
I'm actually not surprised to see Garp in his own tier, in fact, I'd be disappointed to see Garp beside Virgo......or to put it accurately, Virgo beside Garp

Im actually baffled at how underrated vice admiral tokikake (Chaton) and Gion (Momousagi) are. I mean they were legit admiral candidates alongside fujitora & ryokygu, even being given code names. They're defo stronger then every vice admiral besides garp and possibly tsuru.
Yeah same thoughts and the character design for Chaton is what makes me think he is strong
They aren't underrated, they just aren't that interesting compared to the likes of Garp, Tsuru, & Smoker who are the 3 Vice Admirals everyone immediately thinks of. Also wasn't Black Cage Hina a Vice Admiral even though she wasn't listed in the video? One Piece suffers from having too many characters the most of the Big 3.

@@Blankskeen Apparently there was a separate Rear Admiral Rank that I had forgotten about. It's unfortunate that so many of the Vice Admirals are just Extras with a high rank when T-Bone & Hina had so much more character despite being lower ranked. The Navy/Marines didn't get to be seen fighting nearly enough & I realize much of that was by design.
Regarding Maynard & Bartolomeo. You can't blame the guy for losing the fight so easily when prime Oden couldn't even scratch that same barrier.
I would ask: Where is Vice Admiral Jonathan?
I know its a filler vice admiral for anime, but since first Episode when he appeard it was my favorite and i am really sad that we didnt see him since Marine fort.
Edit: If we are talking about it. G8 arc should be CANNON, i think it shows that marines are competent bunch without their powerhouses and it made me even like Skypia saga for this sole arc.
In the anime he even appears at Marineford, he's canon in my heart.

The moment smoker used his last strength to give law his heart back, I knew I would love smoker forever. That was way too cool and gentle. He might still want peace from pirates but he doesn't take his words or promises back. Thanks to law and Luffy he could stay alive. So did their men. The men trusted Luffy and law so much as to cry after them as they left. Smoker could easily be a asshole and say no you're not leaving. But nah. I love him.

I think honestly when you have such an extensive universe going like OP it’s just cool they all have names and did some things during Marineford and have had other parts in the story.

I love the way GLR puts a separate tier for Garp. And he was so cautious that he didn't want Garp to come in between other vice admirals so that he may compare their ability with that of Garp which is totally unfair. Tsuru is honestly one of my favourite characters in One Piece, she is pretty much to Doflamingo what Smoker is to Luffy. And I want to see prime Tsuru even more in an eventual Godvalley flashbacks than I want to see prime Garp.

I think it’s pretty telling of the power gap between the admirals and vice admirals because when there were two vacant spots the world government drafted two guys to be admirals rather than pick from the vice admirals

The story on the idea of Momousagi and Chaton made me laugh because it is such an Oda thing to do
I totally forgot about Vice Admirals. Everyone was very excited about them since they are just one rank below Admirals and we thought there would be some very powerful individuals among them. But they are pretty much relegated to being a hype tool for other characters. I don't think Oda has planned to give them any relevance anymore, especially considering that the show is heading towards it's end

Momousagi and Chaton should be bumped up to S tier in my opinion. The two were candidates for being the next admiral, only beaten out by Fujitora and Green Bull.

he definitely has some sort of a spider zoan fruit. when he cuffed Marco, he only touched a wooden part of the seastone cuffs.

Honestly, the bastille hate has to stop, sabo would do the same to almost every other vice-admiral(except Garp, momo, and Chatton).

I’m definitely referring to top tier things as GARP Teir.
I personally think Smoker is defined by the fact that he is the first truly honorable Marine we meet on the series, with the others like Morgan and Nezumi being corrupt and power hungry.
Smoker was one of the first examples of a good Marine, exemplified by his first interaction with civilians.
A little girl spills ice cream on his pants, and instead of getting angry, he apologized to the kid for ruining her ice cream and gave her some money, telling her to make it a double scoop this time.
That is one thing Smoker will always have in my book. He is one of the best examples of why people see the Marines as good guys.
His honor is later shown in Alabasta,when first he lets Luffy go in exchange for saving his life, and later refuses to take the credit for defeating Crocodile, because he didn't, despite the Marines wanting him too for propaganda purposes.
Anyone who can still manage to look cool and intimidating with an entire steak stuck to their face is definitely S class.

Tsuru and Smoker should be S tier. Tsuru was part of the greatest Marine trio, that alone is a reason for her to be on S tier. Smoker’s character and sense of justice precedes everyone in the Marines and his intertwined relationship with the Strawhats permits him to be on S tier.
