Artistic Decision Making in Portraiture

This short lecture is intended to give both artists and art aficionados some insight on some of the artistic decisions that factor into portraiture. Though there are countless considerations made in the crafting of a portrait, this lecture focuses on color, mood, composition/space, literal vs. expressive portraiture, and background, providing both art historical as well as modern and contemporary examples from a diverse body of artists.
