He's an insecure liar and not a very good one.

Once Ant and Jim took over the show really grew into its own
Opie repeats that they compete with themselves about 25 times. Greggshells abound. Just listen for dead silence in the studio every time Opie makes the record skip with some overly loud fake laugher or inserts some nonsense instant feedback. The way he takes this as if it's some personal schoolyard fight directed at only him is embarrassing. The false bravado pretending like he can't remember who Maxwell is while playing the "punt" sound clip is hatable. And stop hitting the damn mic! It's unpleasant.

So many great moments and memories from this, but the best part is that out of this nearly 6 hour epic, the first minute has Opie saying "If you're expecting a lot of attention, think again." (But yes, I understand that 6 hours is about a day and a half of their show, stretched over 2 years)
In fairness, it was really Benny B that kept it going because he couldn't shut his fat mouth. He kept trying to fight back until finally he was told to shut up by management I believe. O&A would have never let it go on so long if this guy hadn't been shit talking them and other comics on the show.
