Rabid Rabbit Rabbi I don't get it. Why didn't they just car crash him more and laugh less? Yeah, it would've created tension but after a while he would learn to adapt. But instead they enabled it for so long and fed his ego.
Morbicies I like to use Opie's own "captain of the ship" analogy.
Opie thinks he's the captain of the ship. If he realizes that he's not, he's the type of person that will crash the ship into the rocks and kill everyone with himself. (We've seen this happen during the past few years.) The officers (Ant and Jim) and sailors' livelihoods and wealth depends on that ship going forward and strong. So if that means that the captain needs to think he's in charge and a valuable part of the crew, then everyone is going to feed that delusion for their own sake.
you ever listen to Opie's show these days on satellite? He's got Sherrod on regularly whose probably more painful than opie on his worst day...
The balls on Opie to criticize any other radio show, he brings nothing and could very easily be jocktobered...absolutely horrible...
This is the same show that Bob Kelly gave credit to before O&A on his CD.

Whenever Opie would go off on these silly ratings wars tangents, it was unbearable. I'm shocked the show was able to survive such hackery.
Opie always brought down the mood of Jocktober. Everyone would be laughing and making good jokes and he would rant about "WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN RADIO SOONER", or "I USED TO LOVE THIS BUSINESS MAN" and other shit. True or not, he just had to crowbar his way in to kill the funny and make the same point again

Every other billboard in Chicago was an Eric and Kathy sign. Me and my brother were the only people who listened to O & A, most had never even heard of them. They didn't advertise well enough, and with Mancow in town it's a tough fight, but I blame O&A for not being successful in Chicago.
I still listen to them. I think they were edgy long before O&A.

There are some random beeps that just make the audio confusing and they come back and Opie is in fucking stitches screaming with laughter. He's erupting like he's listening to Carlin and Pryor performing a two-man epic set. Meanwhile Jim and Anthony are silent.

The purse snatching video (with Patrice I think). "Women are just built to be robbed" then describes everything that makes them easy targets: putting all valuables in a big external bag they carry around + high heels.
It was a Patrice level funny observation, and thus I suspect that he got it from instant feedback.
I honestly can't name five. But I remember when they were talking about 9/11 conspiracies and a caller said there was a suspicious truck heading to the twin towers (hinting it had explosives) and Opie immediately responded with, "What did it say on the side, ACME?". It was a decent line. If only he could always be like that. But the fact that a line like that is one of his highlights is just sad.
yeah ok thats not bad, but man like one line out of a 3 hour show is terrible, let alone THOUSANDS of three hour shows lol

In 2017 - Kathy left the show due to contact negotiations that fell apart . Eric and Kathy hated each other so much money wasn’t enough for them to work together.
In 2021 Eric was fired for years of sexual misconduct “allegations” was an asshole to work,with, and sounded like a terrible human being. more accusers are having legal filings against him. Eric is DONE in the radio world!

Now look, Eric and Kathy are still on the air according to 101.9's page while O and A crashed and burned. Not only that, when you weigh the options, people would rather go with free local commercialized radio than pay a subscription and a device to listen to O and A uncensored and with no commercial. Or hell, as Opie once brought up, they rather listen to mp3 players that takes every filler out and use the internet for news and weather. Radio isn't the problem. It's the consumers.

Wow, really big names in the business! Opie and Ant made more in a year than Eric and Kathy made in their entire careers. In my experience there are genuinely funny women out there, and I have witnessed a bias in certain men who simply refuse to laugh if the joke is coming from a woman. At the same time, the women that are funny are a tiny minority, the vast majority of female comics are indeed painfully unfunny to mediocre.
What's funny is that I've noticed the women who are genuinely funny are shat upon by the majority of women and women comics who aren't, almost like they're jealous. Most female comics have this mentality that there's 'male humor' and 'female humor', when the reality is what they're calling 'male humor' is simply 'humor', and what they're calling 'female humor' is simply 'shit'. They hate women who are genuinely funny because they see them as 'selling out' to 'male humor'. All this is, ironically, pretty funny.
I can remember many times where I genuinely laughed till my abs ached! Not one of those times was from a woman.So....

No one is pretending to hate Opie because it's 'cool', people genuinely hate him because he's a genuinely hateable person.
When I first started listening to O&A I thought the Opie hate was a bandwagon, too. Then over a year I noticed all the things people said about him were true, and slowly realized it wasn't a bandwagon at all. He's a cunt. And the only people who defend him are cunts who see themselves in Opie.
