I have a minor theory. Selene is meant to be a sort of 'moral compass' for Ayano as the game progresses. As Ayano eliminates her rivals, Selene will become obsessed with the topic of finding out who's doing it. It might also be that Selene goes to the same school as Ayano, making another 'roadblock' during the game. Edit: woah, that's a lotta likes. Thanks ig for believing in this theory.
To elaborate, Selene will start to share her/his findings with Ayano. I think Selene would hear about a death/murder (whom would be most likely the 1st rival) and look deeper into it. Through the research Selene may transfer to the school where the murder takes place (Ayano's school). While the game progresses I can think of a couple of outcomes. 1) Selene will find Ayano at school and they'll become "best friends." Ayano will be able to manipulate Selene in different ways, maybe by making him/her distract other students (without needing the Reputation (REP) points. Or perhaps framing one of Ayano's rival to be the so called "Evil Murder" that Selene is after. This would cause Selene to eliminate that rival, instead of Ayano. 2) Opposite of theory 1, Selene will become suspicious of Ayano. I believe Selene would act kind of like the photography club does, but a bit more intense. By intense I mean Selene may go around looking for Ayano if she has does anything weird. This would interrupt Ayano's activities. I think if Selene would become a major part of the game, she/he would be around the ending of the game, as it seems a bit much for the beginning of the game.
Hmm, that depends. Seeing as this is a wide spectrum of social media, it comes from all over. Although there are some odds Selene might go to Ayano's school (slim ones, granted), I honestly doubt it. Selene mentions coming from a high criminal stated country, with a murder rate of 33% in her city. Judging by the state of Akademi High and the overall worldbuilding, I doubt Ayano lives in such a state unless the school, the environment we're provided, is a cloaking mechanism for the outside world. Still, the odds are quite slim, and I honestly doubt Selene would possibly go to her school unless intentionally baiting Ayano; being a person such as Info-Chan who knows Ayano's morals and intentions and is purposely trying to question her morality and humanity.

I actually think the legal system would charge the two murderers differently. I'm by no means an expert on the legal system or anything like that, but I know a bit about it. One of the things I learned in my random US Law studying sessions is that the intent of a crime plays a big factor in how a punishment is given. A person who robbed a store for their starving family vs one who robbed for greedy purposes would receive different degrees of punishment. Any law buffs out there, please correct me. I'd love to learn more about how the legal system works with these kinds of cases.
They will work differently because these stuff won't always go on trial. In US in particular, you have a lawyer that will represent you, and if it's a penal crime the State Attorney might give you a plea just because of different reasons of committing a crime. The DA is worried about public fame too, so if even it was some non-justifiable reason by law but justifiable reason by natural feelings (like revenge) they won't go too harsh because the public will protest. By law, though, stealing in both ways whether due to sustain of a family or for greed is intention, so by law the punishment should be the same. However things work differently practically due to different lawyers, precedence, charges against you, politics, etc.

Even after all these years I find myself coming back to your videos of Yandere Simulator specifically. Despite how high-energy you make your videos I find it relaxing to watch them while I study. Amnesia question: There's no point in punishing a person for a crime they have no concept of. Punishing them at that point does nothing to rehabilitate the perpetrator or improve society and only works to gratify a sense of vengeance, which isn't the same thing as Justice.
I agree, but consider this. They are still the same person, so they may be a danger to society. We already know what they're capable of, so even if they don't remember the crime who says they won't do something like that in the future? Imo it all comes down to the question if people are born a specific way like good or bad or something in between and they can't change their roots, or if people are made. i actually don't know what i think, but probably the second option..

It's all circumstantial, if the amnesiac person remembers what they did/why they did it, they are no longer amnesiac and thus the question no longer applies. That said, I can think of scenarios I would absolutely be driven to taking another life. Luckily those circumstances are as extreme as the action in question, so I never really dwell on it too much. I can also say that the Me that I recognize as Me is the Me that exists in the moment. I as I am now am not who I was a month ago, let alone years ago. There are absolutely things that can happen to change me to the point that the values I hold now could change so drastically as to invert.

The Ship of Theseus: My viewpoint on this paradox question actually has an answer. Because this ship carries a new part to replace each old part, it should have two important pieces that make up the boat. The Stem and the Keel of the hull. If a boat doesn't have a functional keel, it won't keep the rest of the boat together, if there's no stem, water will fill the Hull. So, in conclusion, once those two pieces are replaced then it becomes a whole different boat. But until then, it's the same boat throughout its journey. All I have to say now after saying is, YOU'RE THAT DUDE!

I have a minor theory.
Selene is meant to be a sort of 'moral compass' for Ayano as the game progresses. As Ayano eliminates her rivals, Selene will become obsessed with the topic of finding out who's doing it. It might also be that Selene goes to the same school as Ayano, making another 'roadblock' during the game.

That's a great theory! And the more we eliminate the rivals the "hard" way, the more Selene will become a problem to us... That would be so cool
To elaborate, Selene will start to share her/his findings with Ayano. I think Selene would hear about a death/murder (whom would be most likely the 1st rival) and look deeper into it. Through the research Selene may transfer to the school where the murder takes place (Ayano's school). While the game progresses I can think of a couple of outcomes.
1) Selene will find Ayano at school and they'll become "best friends." Ayano will be able to manipulate Selene in different ways, maybe by making him/her distract other students (without needing the Reputation (REP) points. Or perhaps framing one of Ayano's rival to be the so called "Evil Murder" that Selene is after. This would cause Selene to eliminate that rival, instead of Ayano.
2) Opposite of theory 1, Selene will become suspicious of Ayano. I believe Selene would act kind of like the photography club does, but a bit more intense. By intense I mean Selene may go around looking for Ayano if she has does anything weird. This would interrupt Ayano's activities.
I think if Selene would become a major part of the game, she/he would be around the ending of the game, as it seems a bit much for the beginning of the game.

Hmm, that depends. Seeing as this is a wide spectrum of social media, it comes from all over. Although there are some odds Selene might go to Ayano's school (slim ones, granted), I honestly doubt it. Selene mentions coming from a high criminal stated country, with a murder rate of 33% in her city. Judging by the state of Akademi High and the overall worldbuilding, I doubt Ayano lives in such a state unless the school, the environment we're provided, is a cloaking mechanism for the outside world. Still, the odds are quite slim, and I honestly doubt Selene would possibly go to her school unless intentionally baiting Ayano; being a person such as Info-Chan who knows Ayano's morals and intentions and is purposely trying to question her morality and humanity.

I actually think the legal system would charge the two murderers differently. I'm by no means an expert on the legal system or anything like that, but I know a bit about it. One of the things I learned in my random US Law studying sessions is that the intent of a crime plays a big factor in how a punishment is given. A person who robbed a store for their starving family vs one who robbed for greedy purposes would receive different degrees of punishment.
Any law buffs out there, please correct me. I'd love to learn more about how the legal system works with these kinds of cases.
They will work differently because these stuff won't always go on trial. In US in particular, you have a lawyer that will represent you, and if it's a penal crime the State Attorney might give you a plea just because of different reasons of committing a crime. The DA is worried about public fame too, so if even it was some non-justifiable reason by law but justifiable reason by natural feelings (like revenge) they won't go too harsh because the public will protest.
By law, though, stealing in both ways whether due to sustain of a family or for greed is intention, so by law the punishment should be the same. However things work differently practically due to different lawyers, precedence, charges against you, politics, etc.

Amnesia question: There's no point in punishing a person for a crime they have no concept of. Punishing them at that point does nothing to rehabilitate the perpetrator or improve society and only works to gratify a sense of vengeance, which isn't the same thing as Justice.
I agree, but consider this. They are still the same person, so they may be a danger to society. We already know what they're capable of, so even if they don't remember the crime who says they won't do something like that in the future?

It's all circumstantial, if the amnesiac person remembers what they did/why they did it, they are no longer amnesiac and thus the question no longer applies. That said, I can think of scenarios I would absolutely be driven to taking another life. Luckily those circumstances are as extreme as the action in question, so I never really dwell on it too much. I can also say that the Me that I recognize as Me is the Me that exists in the moment. I as I am now am not who I was a month ago, let alone years ago. There are absolutely things that can happen to change me to the point that the values I hold now could change so drastically as to invert.

Hey Jay, it's been a while from when I started watching you Yandere playthrough, and I just got to this video and I have something to say about the Ship of Theseus @ 8:57 .
The Ship of Theseus: My viewpoint on this paradox question actually has an answer. Because this ship carries a new part to replace each old part, it should have two important pieces that make up the boat. The Stem and the Keel of the hull. If a boat doesn't have a functional keel, it won't keep the rest of the boat together, if there's no stem, water will fill the Hull. So, in conclusion, once those two pieces are replaced then it becomes a whole different boat. But until then, it's the same boat throughout its journey.
