I’m literally parked outside an Asian Market waiting for them to open. Because I need some for some Dumplin wrap. It’s been a minute since I made some.
I just came upon your channel. Watching you cook brings back 50 year memories for me when I was once engaged to a young man that liked to cook Chinese. Grandma Sarah in remote northeastern Montana
I made dumplings a while back. I watch a few videos and got a bit from each recipe and changed it around according to my taste and it turned out great. But I didn’t note down the ingredients and measurements that I used.😢 Now I have to go back to many dumpling videos and try it all over again.
I made these for tonight’s dinner. I made with the recipe you worked through, except I used 1/2 ground chicken and half ground pork, because that is what I had. It was delicious and my family loved them. One note: I used one of the new Nonstick Always Pans that you see all over. With those types of pans you only need a few tablespoons of water. I used the mentioned 1/2 cup and I made soup and the potstickers 🥟 fell apart. Oops. Still delicious. By the third batch I had it down. 1T rice oil (it’s what I had available), brown the bottoms 2 minutes, add 3 T of water, lower heat, put lid on and 5 minutes later you have fully cooked, crispy bottom potstickers 🥟👍🏽
Hi Flo and family. I love dumplings so let me get comfy to watch. We are having another snow storm so it is good to watch something that warms the heart. 😘🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟💙💙💙
Flo, I made this recipe, and my husband loved them! When you bite in, the silkiness of the gravy is so good, you really don't need a dipping sauce. Thank you for another yummy recipe and video.
I just made these after making the steamed ones. Both were good but we have always preferred steamed. Dude is correct about the dark vinegar. Delicious. Thank you so much for sharing your recipies. My wife thanks you as she is getting some really nice dishes to eat as I do 90% of the cooking. Luckily we live in a city with many options for ethnic ingredents. Even rice wine is easy to get. Keep up you great channel. AWESOME! Dude is ok too.
The dumplings looked delicious Flo! I usually make a big batches then divided them into the freezer bags, they are great to have on hand when I come home from work and don’t know what to cook days, I like mine boil then add some veggies in , the husband like pot stickers.
I wonder if this same filling would be good for wonton soup and bowls? I don't eat pork or shellfish. Thanks so much for these recipes! I really like to control ingredients so this is so much better than frozen store bought dumplings!
🧧Happy Chinese New Year 2021!🧧THX v much for showing us how simple it can be to make dumplings! REALLY like your videos bc I'm a visual learner. Your new Homestyle Chinese Cookbook ROCKS! My family is going to enjoy a delish bountiful CNY bc your recipes enable me to bravely make the celebratory meals at home during Covid🎉 Wishing tge LUM Family Good health & blessings for this CNY❤🧧
Wow! I just subscribed, and am happy to have found this channel! I grew up in a primarily American-Italian family and find this content very interesting. I am starting to explore Asian flavors, event hough I am scared...lol...and this channel makes it seem simple, especially since all of my cooking style is Italian based. I also like how it's not recipe based, basically cook and add what you like. This is a very refreshing way to learn techniques and flavor profiles. Thank you!
@@FloLum Thank you! I just have to build up some Asian condiments. I have Sesame oil, but I think I need Oyster sauce, Fish sauce ( is that the right word?), and soy sauce...is that a good base of ingredients to start with?
There’s not a lot of fish sauce in Chinese cooking but I use it on occasion. It really does add a layer of umami especially in the garlic noodles recipe. I would also add dark sauce and a rice wine (ShaoHsing/ShaoXing).
Hello Flo. I am making Chicken Dumplings tonight & I just can't wait to take my first bite. It will be my first time also eating Dumplings. I will pan fry them just like you & hope to have similar results. ( fingers will be crossed ) Wish me luck & be well & safe. ♥ From Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
I never thought it would be so easy to make dumplings. I’ve been buying them frozen which I’m fortunate that I’m able to get some good quality frozen ones from my Asian market but man oh man I would love to make these!
Gung Hai Fat Choy Flo and Dean, thank you for sharing your recipe, I always found it somewhat intimidating to make dumplings, but you make it seem so simple. I’m going to give it a try for my new year!
I could do this even in my tiny kitchen! I’ve a question or two. What’s the prep time for a dozen dumplings? Also can you make ahead and refrigerate or freeze before cooking?
Hi flo I am a big fan of these allways buy them as a side from our Chinese chippy I got them last night and they have doubled in price which is frustrating cause it's just 5 dumplings per portion at £6.50 u/k pounds i didn't know they where that easy to make I can get all the ingredients apart from the cabbage but can get a normal cabbage is that ok to use I hope so carnt wait to try them its allways a sunday treat for me but to be able to make my own would be awsome just one more thing if I made a big batch can you freeze them for a snack like at supper time thanks again for your help and advice I have just retired I have already tryed a couple of your recipes with great success the spaghetti and meat balls is a family favourite saturday tea now am getting some amazing results using my pressure king pro watching your channel thank you
Love Dudes shirt (Detroit Pixelworkers). We live in Southfield outside of Detroit! When we go to our local Chinese restaurant Lily recognizes our son as Pan Fried Dumplings!! Lol
I boil mine first to make sure the center of the dumplings 🥟 are heated through. Then I pour the water out of the pan then add a little oil and fry them till they get that brown color on the bottom of them
I will definitely eat a whole batch by myself 😊. Finally now I can easily make these bad boys without spending a fortune at the restaurant. Thank you 🤗😘
Could I use cooked chicken instead? 🤔🤔🤔Do you have a recipe for the dough? We live in South Dakota and I can't find dumpling dough or wonton wrappers anywhere since pandemic started.😢😢😢My son loves dumplings...I would really like to make them for his birthday on the 18th. 🥰🥰
Cooked chicken will then make them over cooked, IMO. There are lots of other recipes out there that show how to make dumpling wrappers. I’ve tried... I can’t make them thin enough. Unless I can find a way to make them simply... I probably won’t.
@@FloLum I have always struggled with making dough. I just don't have the patience.....and nothing goes as planned. Do you purchase the already made ones from a specialty store or local Walmart store might have? It's crazy we live 1 and 1/2 hours from a major grocery store but with my heart failure....my son does the shopping. So I thought maybe freezer section but no luck there either. 😢😢
I find them at the Asian market but I have also seen them at the regular supermarket. Usually there is an Asian section in a refrigerated area where you would find tofu, noodles and wrappers. In our supermarkets, they are close to the produce section, some near packaged salads and salad dressing. Hope that helps.
I ordered your new cookbook on smile.amazon.com for myself, and my granddaughter who is turning 12 on 16 February. She loves to cook the family meals for her mom, dad, and her. Can't wait to try the recipes! Happy Year of the Metal Ox! I made your garlic noodles, and loved them!
Oh snap!!! These look awesome! Easy peasy! Lol. 👍 Thanks for making the alternate dipping sauce. I'm not a vinegary kind of girl.!!! 😂 Love your recipes, Flo! ❤❤❤ Happy Superbowl Sunday, everyone!!! 🍻❤
There are a lot of different varieties but if you don’t have, a dry sherry works as a good sub. We have also been known to use bourbon which also works well.
They way you explained how the way you want your textures make a difference actually got me interested in cooking again, I say I don’t like a lot of dishes but only because the way it made sometimes 😩
Enjoy these yummy dumplings for Chinese New Year... or anytime really! Happy Sunday! 💕
@Flo Lum • You make this look so easy, I may finally try making them myself because store-bought so often disappoint. Stay well and healthy.
I love Dumplings! Flo those look amazing. Thank you.

Important question I can't really have rice wine I'm a kid is there anything else I can put in

Homemade dumplings are the best! There are no preservatives in the filling and they are less salty than store bought ones.
I remember doing this with my mother when we lived in Japan. I love these things! (the world has som many nice things in it)
I love dumplings, but never made them. However thank you for explaining step by step how to make them.

Thank you Flo! It is time that my daughter and I make some for the freezer. 🙋♀️❤

Happy Chinese New Year to you and your family! 💜💜

Favorites! I like a little chili oil or sambal oleke in my dipping sauce. 🤎
I enjoyed the simplicity of the recipe. Question: why not use a food processor to chop the cabbage?
One of my favorite dishes! 😋

I ate some of the chicken dumplings while living in Southern California and they was nice, but have not eaten any since then though.
Does the Napa cabbage need to be washed first? Did you use chicken breast or thighs?
Where can I buy the Chef's knife that you are using here? Brand and length of blade and thickness of the blade please? TQ
Love you guys
oh I am all about the midway double dip on the sauce
Hello from Washington State!!😁👍👋💐💐💐
Like the follow along format, but I recommend you present a list of ingredients at the start.
Yummy!
I made these for a buffet at work yesterday ( night shift ED nurse) and they’re where none left.
Yummmmm
