This is my favourite part of any ASMR medical videos. I’d love to see the interior of the eye one day. I’ve seen digital photos of my eye at Specsavers but not quite the same…
I absolutely love this! My eye doctor that I had my entire life retired and I’m badly in need of a new prescription as a result so it’s neat seeing things from the doctors perspective like this. You remind me so much of my optometrist though ironically because he had such a soothing voice and would always clearly explain what he was looking for and/or doing and why it mattered and the potential health effects that I was happy for him but sad for me when he retired because I wasn’t sure I’d find another one like him. Thankfully there’s multiple practices in my insurance network right near my work so I’m hoping one of them will work out for me like he did, we’ll see!
Its great to watch you not just talking about this subject but every other topic/guideline for potential Gp's. Its a sad fact that the GP's I see rarely explain or perform the basic tests your teaching when I visit them. I know your bound by medical ethics laws and cannot comment but I am 59 years old and an ex RAF medic and I see basic medical standards slipping in this country. Keep up the good work because your teaching Doctors many things they may have forgotten.
I remember when I first saw pictures of my eyes when I saw a new eye dr. I've had a pretty extensive list of eye surgeries, so when I saw the pictures comparing my good and bad eye, I was blown away how interesting the eyes look.
I'm a homeschooler in the US. My daughter's are 8 and 6. I love using some of your videos with them while working on human anatomy. My 6 year old doesn't fully understand but my 8 year old actually understands a lot more than I thought she would. These are also very relaxing. Thank you for these wonderful videos.
To an extent I go with what is interesting them in the moment. We still have to work through the skeletal system and how tendons and muscles work together to move their bodies. We also have to go through the liver, gallbladder and nervous system. Since they are so young I don't push too hard and sometimes we get off topic and just do more age appropriate chemistry. They do want to know more about specific diseases like MS because their uncle has it. Diabetes (we watched some of your videos on diabetes) because their grandmother has it. They have asked for a real doctors kit for Christmas. Lol I think I'm going to make them one.
That scope looks just a bit like a sonic screwdriver -- to us nerds. I suppose, to a GP, a sonic screwdriver looks like an opthalmascope. Also, I love that it has a history, what a thoughtful gift from your family doctor.
Hello Dr Gill, I'd be interested in a video about branch retinal vein occlusion as I have that in my right eye. I have intravitreal injections and I'm the youngest person they've ever seen with it (36!) at my local hospital. It's since been found I've got hypertension which may explain why, but I'd be interested in knowing more about it.
I’ve heard of this instrument but never realized that it was the same instrument my eye doctor uses when I go in for eye exams. This ASMR clip is lovely. Dr. Jimmy, you TYare an amazing teacher and doctor. Hey, they found out I have moderate sleep apnea, which most likely caused my afib. Cpap machines are backorder, so it will help when I get one. They want to do a cardioversion still, hopefully after I get the cpap, and not before. Wish me luck. Love your videos. A cardioversion video would be interesting to see.
Lovely video. I had an optometrist stick some orange dye in my eye once when I came in for a contact lens check (pretty disorienting sensation), I've always wondered what it was for.
Dr Gill, I don't study medicine, but I am inherently curious and enjoy listening to you speak with so much enthusiasm about your work.
